Sahyadri has been upgrading itself from time to time and has now taken a step forward towards enhancing Quality Education and Skill Development by signing MoU with America's foremost Florida International University. This MoU would enable the institution’s access to advanced deep-dive technology content in Machine Learning, Big Data and Analytics, Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. The large scope of the MoU will help both students and faculty to collaborate with experts at FIU in learning, project, industry and further education. This MoU was possible only through the guidance and motivation of the World Renowned Ryder Professor Dr. S S Iyenger which has put us in the Elite Group of Institutions.
Sahyadri Empowers the Blind & Visually Impaired - VL GLASS: A Ray of Hope for the blind
A path breaking, innovative eye glasses was conceptualized, researched and designed by RDL Visible Light Communication and Research Centre at Sahyadri Innovation Hub.
To enable the visually impaired / blind person to move around freely within indoor environments like home or office or any unfamiliar spaces, with freedom and without facing any obstacles, RDL has invented a product by using visible light communication.
RDL VLC Lab was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra, CEO & MD BrahMos Aerospace, DRDO on 26th March 2018. Immensely inspired by Dr. Mishra’s inspirational presence and encouragement, the whole team of Research Engineers, Faculty members and students, headed by Mr. Raghavendra Shetty, set forth to develop the product and within 3 months of inauguration of the lab, the product was delivered.

MBA Project wins the Best Project of the Year Award 2017-18 in the 41st Series of Seminar & Exhibition of Student Project Programme held at BIET, Davangere
MBA Students – Prajwala K, Anupama P S and Jeevitha under the guidance of Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA won The Best Project Award of the Year 2017-18 at the Annual Seminar and Exhibition of Student Project Programme organized by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) in Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Davanagere. The title of the project is – “Capital Budgeting Decision on Installation of Bio-Fuel Plant with special reference to Bio-Diesel from Rubber seeds”.
Sahyadrians contribute relief materials for the flood victims of Kodagu and Kerala
To help rehabilitate the people of Kodagu and Kerala reeling from the devastations caused by the incessant rain, floods and landslides, students of Engineering and Management along with the faculty contributed the much needed relief materials to the relief camps at Kerala and Kodagu. The students and staff donated food items, sanitary materials, medicines, bed sheets, clothing, water bottles, toiletries and cleaning materials.
The collected relief materials were sent to the relief camps through Indian Coast Guards and Blood Donation Kerala.
Further, an amount of Rs. 1,66,750/- was sent to the Chief Minister Relief Fund Natural Calamity.
BOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship Fair
Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai & Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru in collaboration with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organized an Apprenticeship Fair for Engineering Graduates/Diploma/General Graduates in Sahyadri Campus which saw participation from Eight Hundred students of Karnataka. Mr. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Director, BOAT; Mr. Mohamed Ansar, Joint Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru were the guests for the Inaugural Ceremony along with Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation.
Elevate 100 for Mangaluru & Udupi region held at Sahyadri
Elevate 100 organized by K-Tech, Government of Karnataka was held in Sahyadri Campus for the Mangaluru and Udupi region. A total of 12 Teams including 2 teams from Sahyadri participated in the selection process from both the regions. The jury panel consisted of Mr. Sathya Narayana B V, Senior Manager-Karnataka Startup Cell; Mr. Uday Birje, Co-Founder and Director, Thinkstreet Technologies; Mr. Suryanarayanan A, Governing Body Member, TIE, Bengaluru and Ms. Susheela Mahesh, Director, Secured Outsourcing Solutions Private Limited. Mr. Anil Uppin, Managing Director of Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation (KCTU) was also present during the event.
MBA Dept signs an MOU to Mentor the Student’s Overall Development of GFGC, Punjalkatte
Department of Business Administration-MBA signed an MOU with Government First Grade College, Punjalkatte to Mentor their institution in terms of Student’s Development.
As a part of this MOU, around eighty students of Government First Grade College (GFGC), Punjalkatte visited Sahyadri for a One-Day Hands-On Training on Typing Master Tool and MS Excel. Initially, Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA interacted with the students and introduced them to the in-house industries of Sahyadri through presentation. Post this, Chirag Bangera & Gina D’Mello – 2nd year MBA students facilitated the Hands-On Training on Typing Master Tool in the Sahyadri Aptitude Lab. Students were given opportunity to practice on the tool. Typing Test was conducted and electronically generated Typing Test Certificate was issued which featured their Typing Accuracy and Typing Speed.
This was followed by the visit to the various In-house start-ups of Sahyadri wherein the students met the Heads of the companies, interacted with them and also viewed the workflow. Post Lunch, students had another Hands-On session on MS Excel.
Sahyadri proved to be a one-stop shop for learning to the undergraduate students who not only utilized the Hands-On Computer labs but also met the industry experts under one roof of Sahyadri. MBA Student Council facilitated the day-long event as resource persons and also as volunteers.

Mr. S L Boje Gowda, MLC of South-West Teacher’s Constituency visited Sahyadri
Mr. S L Boje Gowda along with Mr. Akshith Suvarna - JDS Youth President Dakshina Kannada District, visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Management and Staff. Mr. Boje Gowda expressed his delight to represent the Teaching community and thanked Sahyadri for casting their votes in the MLC Election. He encouraged the teaching fraternity to join hands with him to bridge any gap in the education system. He appreciated the infrastructure and Human Resource at Sahyadri and stimulated the team to submit a Proposal for organizing Faculty Development Programmes for teachers from rural areas.

Mr. Ashwin L Shetty, Chief Administrator of Vidya Rashmi Group of Institutions in Savanoor visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and other representatives from the in-house industries of the campus.
Mr. Shetty was thrilled with the various initiatives executed in the campus and expressed his appreciation for the learning environment developed at the campus through blend of theoretical and practical aspects.

• Currently, the Administrator of a non-profit rural school called VidyaRashmi Group of Institutions in Savanoor with the aim to transform rural kids into believers and problem solvers
• Apart from his social work at Vidya Rashmi, Mr. Ashwin is a director at Adarsha co-operative society and is also fully engaged with Agriculture and Farming activities at his home town.
Additional General Manager – HAL visits Sahyadri
Mr. A. Srinivasa, Additional General Manager, Defence R&D, Helicopter Division, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru visited Sahyadri. He was taken around the campus by Prof. Balakrishna, Vice-Principal. He appreciated the infrastructural facilities and the learning environment in the institution. Mr. Srinivasa interacted with ‘Team Challengers’. He was impressed by the passion and accomplishments of students in Aero design and modelling. He shared few tips for improving the performance of planes. Mr. Srinivas has additional charge of Aerospace Department of Bharath Earth Movers Limited (BEML) involved in design and manufacturing of advanced composite materials for aerospace applications.
Head of Finance & Investment Division from KBITS at Sahyadri
Ms. Prathiba Gangoji Rao, Head of Finance & Investment Division, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS) visited Sahyadri. She interacted with the companies and had great admiration for the products developed by them. Ms. Prathiba also gave suggestions on the process of funding for the established business and how the companies can take part in them. She appreciated the effort of entire team for the distinct initiatives of the institution.

Management Committee Member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) visited Sahyadri
Mr. Anoop B.S. from SAE Bengaluru section visited Sahyadri along with Mr. Rakesh D R, Senior Officer, SAE, Bengaluru. He is the Management committee member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). During his visit to the MECH-TECH garage, Mr. Anoop interacted with various SAE Collegiate clubs of the institution such as SAE Baja, SAE SUPRA and Go-kart. Mr. Anoop facilitated a session for the collegiate club members wherein he discussed the different strategies to be considered and the methods to be followed while designing the vehicle. He also gave an overview about the importance of suspension, engine, braking, transmission and ergonomics. He appreciated the management and institution for the infrastructure and facilities that have been provided to the students which would provide students the right exposure.

Mangalore Police in collaboration with Vijaya Karnataka conducted a series of events on the theme "Say No to Drugs" covering most of the schools and colleges of Dakshina Kannada District.
The Valedictory ceremony was organized at Dr. TMA Pai Auditorium, Mangaluru which started off with a Walk from the Bunts Hostel Circle. Student representatives from Sahyadri headed the contingent which saw participation from 5,000 students of Dakshina Kannada District.
The Valedictory ceremony had witnessed the presence of Shri. Verendra Hegde, Dharmadarshi, Sri. Manjunatha Swamy Temple, Dharmasthala; The Police Commissioner Mr. Suresh IPS; The District Commissioner Mr. Sasikanth Senthil S and also had the star attraction Ms. Rashmika Mandanna.
Aerospace Standard NDT Lab opened at Sahyadri
Sahyadri’s efforts to up skill students, continues by setting up “Aerospace Standard Non Destructive Testing Lab” in Caliper. This lab is equipped with the state of art latest equipments to do NDT using UV Light inspection at par with aerospace testing standards. The Centre is managed by certified industrial experts to impart skills to students as well as for testing customer products. Students will get benefitted by hands-on experience on live Industrial products, giving them an opportunity to be get certified in NDT through “The American Society for Non Destructive Testing (ASNT)” and become globally employable.
Swami Dayatmanandaji, a senior monk of Ramakrishna Order graces Sahyadri with his presence at the institute
Swami Dayatmanandaji visited Sahyadri and glanced around the academic and industrial infrastructure established at the campus. He expressed his happiness over the growth factor of Sahyadri which was achieved in less than a decade.
Swamiji interacted with the representatives of all the in-house industries and start-ups and also blessed each of them in taking this set up to a greater height.
Brief Profile of Swami Dayatmanandaji
He is a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1964, was initiated in 1964 by Revered Yatiswaranandaji Maharaj, and had his Sannyasa in 1973 from Revered Swami Vireswaranandaji Maharaj.
He worked in various Centres of the Ramakrishna Order until 1991 when he was posted to Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre, U.K., as Assistant Minister.
In 1993 he was appointed as President of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre, and continued to look after the Vedanta Centre until March 2018.
Currently, he is leading a retired life at Ramakrishna Math, Halasuru.
Sahyadri was also graced by the presence of Swami Divyanandaji in the Campus
Swami Divyananda, Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur, Kolkata along with Swami Jitakamanandaji, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Management and Staff of the institution. Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary escorted Swamiji to the various departments and introduced them to the innovative practices at Sahyadri. Swamiji had words of praise for the authentic learning approach adopted at the institute and blessed Sahyadri to reach greater heights by empowering young minds.

QS India would be inviting New York University Tandon School of Engineering, University of South Florida, George Washington University, Keck Graduate Institute, Kennesaw State University and St. Johns University, New York City to Sahyadri campus during September 2018. The event would lead to student interactions in understanding the opportunities for higher studies at US and also interactions with faculty and the representatives from in-campus industries to explore academic and industry connects respectively.
