Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014 held at Sahyadri Campus

The Vishwa Tuluvere Parba-2014 was held with pomp and grandeur in the Sahyadri campus. The event was organized by the Akhila Bharata Tulu Okutta to mark its 25th year in collaboration with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade and chief priest of Tirupati Venkataramana Temple, Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu inaugurated the Vishwa Tuluvere Parba. In his address, Ramana Deekshitulu said, "Tulu language will survive, grow and develop till the sun and the moon last. The rich culture and language handed down to us by our ancestors should be protected and further developed. Vishwa Tuluvere Parba is an occasion to celebrate and to protect the language and culture of this land for the future generation."

Padmashri Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade who presided over the programme said, "Several hands have worked for the success of Vishwa Tulu Samelana which was held at Ujire in 2009. The present day Tuluvas have started to use the Tulu script in their wedding invitation cards. In contemporary scenario, speaking Tulu has become a matter of pride and duty of Tuluvas. Tulunadu is a blessed land. There are several temples throughout Tulunadu. Several great personalities have been born in this sacred land. Tulunadu has witnessed several feats of achievements by various personalities. There are several educational institutions and people are into hotel and bank business in several parts of the world. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Educational Institutions, Mayor Mahabala Maarla and MLA Moideen Bhava also spoke on the occasion.

Health Minister U. T. Khader, Mrs. Hemavathi V. Heggade, ZP president Asha Thimappa Gowda, Dharmapal U. Devadiga, Damodar Nisarga, and Janaki Brahmavar, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and others were also present on the occasion.

‘Sahyadri Tuluvere Isiri’, an inter-collegiate cultural competition was also organised in the Campus and was sponsored by Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Mrs. Shreelatha, AAO , Mr. Naveen Pilar, Head, Department of Art & Culture and Mrs. Nithisha Rodrigues, Director, Department of Physical Education coordinated the programme. Sri Shasthavu Bhothanatheshwara Trust also organised ‘Kreedotsava 2014’. The photography exhibition organized by Mr. Vasanath Kedige, Media Consultant, featured prize winning photographs of the Photography Competition held on account of the Vishwa Tuluvere Parba. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary was honored on the occasion along with other dignitaries.

The three-day event saw around one and half lakh people visiting the event which was held on the banks of the river Nethravathi. Various entertainment programmes were organised during the day as well as late into the night. Exhibition of Tulu traditional attires, ‘Atil Aragane,’ sports events and photo exhibitions, book expo and art expo attracted the visitors. The Trustees, Management, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management voluntarily contributed their time and effort towards the success of the three-day programme.

The Heggade and Smt. Hemavathi Heggade visited Sahyadri campus in connection with the inauguration of the recently concluded Vishwa Tuluvere Parbha 2014 held at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Mr Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation and Mrs. Prasanna Bhandary, Trustee, welcomed the guests. On their walk around the Campus, the dignitaries appreciated the infrastructure and facilities provided by the Management. Dr. Heggade said that the college has provided everything; a good learning environment and quality education that are truly exceptional.

Mr. B. Ramanath Rai - Karnataka's Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment

Karnataka's Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment and Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister, Mr. B. Ramanath Rai visited the Campus and took part in the recently held three-day Vishwa Tuluvere Parba under the aegis of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. He is also the president of the Vishwa Tuluvere Parba Committee. He appreciated the hospitality shown by the management, trustees, faculty and staff. Mr. Rai said, "Thanks to Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and the entire Sahyadri family” for getting involved and also for being part of the Tulu Fest. Dharmadhikari Rajarshi Dr. Veerendra Heggade and all other committee members were present on the occasion.

Bishop of Mangalore, Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza

Bishop of Mangalore, Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, visited Sahyadri campus. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, welcomed and honoured the Bishop. Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza inaugurated 'Tuluvere Aisiri Pantha' on the second day of the 'Vishwa Tuluvere Parba' held on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the formation of Akhil Bharat Tulu Okkoota in association with Tulu Sahitya Academy. The Bishop gave a call for strengthening the concept of universal brotherhood and tolerance towards other human beings in the region. He was happy to see the aesthetically built infrastructure and facilities of the College. Chairman of Sahyadri Educational Institutions, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Tulu Okkoota president, Dharmapal U. Devadiga, honorary president, Damodar Nisarga, Kadri Navneeth Shetty, and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Session Industry Interact

Confederation of Industry Interact with the support of CII was held in the Campus. Principals and professors of fifteen engineering colleges in the Mangalore region participated in the session. The session was chaired by Mr. Praveen Kalbavi, MD and CEO of Novigo Solutions, Mr. R. Sathyanarayan Ramachandran, Head of the South Zone and Mr. Moinudeen, Head of Karnataka CII. Mr. Praveen has expressed his support to engineering colleges from the industry side in all aspects such as internship and projects handling. Mr. R. Sathyanarayan Ramachandran gave the complete overview of the benefits of CII membership to students, faculty and industry. Mr. Moinudeen has also expressed that he will support any of the requests generated from engineering colleges. There was an open house discussion where many queries were discussed.

CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in India's development process. Founded in 1895 CII’s theme of ‘Accelerating Growth, Creating Employment’ for 2014-15 aims to strengthen a growth process that meets the aspirations of today’s India. During the year, CII will specially focus on economic growth, education, skill development, manufacturing, investments, ease of doing business, export competitiveness, legal and regulatory architecture, labour law reforms and entrepreneurship as growth enablers.

Sahyadri in the Limelight at VGST Funding Grants Award 2014-15

Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Bangalore, has sanctioned grant amounting to Rs 58,00,000/- to Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management toward proposed projects under three different schemes. Ms. Saranyaraj D., Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering with Prof. Dayananda Shetty, Director-STEP as the co-investigator will coordinate the grant under ‘Centres of Innovative Science and Engineering Education (CISEE)’ scheme. CISEE programme is to improve the quality of research and education in the state of Karnataka by providing facilities needed for the promotion of research activities, Skill Development, Teaching Methodology and Development of Teaching aids, etc. particularly in science & engineering Colleges.

Mr. Sarvesh Vishwakarma, Assistant Professor – SG, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, will coordinate grant awarded for ‘ Karnataka Fund for Infrastructure Strengthening in Science and Technology in Higher Educational Institutions (K-Fist) – (Level – I)’ scheme. K-FIST scheme is to provide financial support to higher educational institutions affiliated to universities in the state towards strengthening infrastructure facilities for imparting quality education and to encourage research in post-graduate institutions with establishment of basic infrastructure facilities.

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Dr. Savitha M.B., Professor & HOD, Department of Chemistry are awarded under ‘Seed Money for Young Scientist (SMYSR)’ scheme.

Congratulating all budding researchers of Sahyadri for getting recognition for the proposed research projects for the first time from the government agencies Dr. S. Manjappa, Director Research & Consultancy said, “I wish all of you (researchers) a good progress in your research career”.

Prof. C. Ranganathaiah, Director of Research said that it is a great boost to Govt. Research Center at Sahyadri Campus to strengthen its research activities. The facilities developed through these projects will enhance the research based education for all the students. He appealed faculties to associate PG students to take these project works forward to achieve the goals set in. He emphasized the need to work hard to achieve the deliverables in the sanctioned projects so that VGST appreciates Sahyadri as the best Research Center.

MBA Students Celebrate Graduation Day-2014

The Graduation Day of the fifth batch of students of Master of Business Administration was held in the Campus. Dr. Deependra Moitra, President and CEO, Praxight Partners, Chairman & Co-Founder, Teritree Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest for the programme. He conveyed life messages through inspirational stories. His messages were focused on progress through substance, need for continuous unlearning and learning, struggle for growth, tradeoffs in situations, having unique individual ambitions, positive communication skills, managing relationships and adaptive behavior. He also emphasized that individual identity is character and asked the graduates to imbibe individual ethical behavior.

Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation gave the opening remarks. Dr. D. L. Prabhakara, Director, Sahyadri Educational Institutions welcomed the gathering. Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management proposed the Vote of Thanks. The function was graced by Director, Department of Business Administration, HoDs of various departments, faculty members and parents of graduates. 176 post-graduate students took an oath and received their graduation certificates.


                

Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu Chief Priest of Tirupathi Tirumala Temple Visits Sahyadri

Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu, Pradhana Archaka, Tirupathi Tirumala Temple, an eminent personality visited the Campus and blessed and guided the management and faculty fraternity. Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu is a scientist with a doctorate in molecular biology and has had various opportunities to interact with eminent scientists world-wide.

Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, gave an introductory note with a briefing about his long term association with Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu, Pradhana Archaka, Tirupathi Tirumala Temple and the ability of Deekshitulu to converse with God heart to heart.

Dr. A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu addressed the Sahyadri family and shared his vast knowledge and experience. He explained that the purpose of education is to give back to the society and appreciated the development of technology. He stressed on the importance of ozone layer and its protection from global warming. He requested to protect the mother earth. He explained the existence of God in a scientific way and briefed the importance of Veda, Upanishad, Yajna and chanting of manthras.

He enriched the audience with message of lord Krishna to perform duties without any expectations so that one remains calm in any situation of life and stated that one’s destiny is predetermined so one has to live without worrying about the past and the future.

Dr. Narasimha Adiga, Pradhana Archaka, Sri Mookambika Temple Visits Sahyadri

Dr. Narasimha Adiga, Pradhana Archaka, Sri Mookambika Temple, Kollur, an eminent personality visited the Campus, blessed and guided the management and faculty fraternity. He also appreciated the infrastructure and facilities provided by the Management. This family of priests has been worshiping goddess Mookambika for more than twenty five generations in the form of Shreechakra.

iWave Systems Technologies Signs MoU with Sahyadri

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore, with a vision to reach excellence in education, signed an MoU with iWave Systems Technologies for Joint Collaborative Program for Establishment of an Incubation Centre at Sahyadri for Product Development in Embedded Systems and Advanced ARM Based Embedded Systems Lab for the benefit of students and faculty members.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Abdullah Khan, President, and Mr. Kumar Bhagavath, Associate Director, iWave Systems Technologies, Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Prinicpal, Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director, Research & Consultancy, Prof. B. N. Karkera, Consultant, Prof. Dayanand Shetty, Department of Electronics & Communication & Engineering, and Asst. Prof. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering.

FKCCI & Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Sign MoU

Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FKCCI), Bangalore and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to foster Industry-Institution relationship and to effectively complement each other’s effort in serving the cause of industries and students and to facilitate growth and development of Industries. This MoU will facilitate jointly organizing seminars / conferences, Management Development Programme (MDP), Executive Development Programme (EDP) – long term / short term programmes for enhancing skills /competency of employees, jointly work for channelizing funds of Government / Non Government Agencies for the project on skill building, talent development, etc., jointly work to provide suitable placement for the graduates upon successful completion of the programme to the extent possible and FKCCI will extend the resources by providing practical training for the students for industrial visits, conducting various programmes, workshops as required under the curriculum to the students. The MoU was executed by Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, President, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Mr. Sampathraman, President, FKCCI, Bangalore.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification Awarded by TUV Nord Germany for the next Three Years

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management is awarded with an extension of ISO 9001:2008 certification up to the year 2017. This certification was conducted in accordance with the TUV NORD CERT auditing and certification procedures and is subject to regular surveillance audits.
