The NAAC Peer Team Visit

A three-member peer team from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) comprising of Dr. G.S. N. Raju, Former Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University, Dr. Vidhyadhar Reddy Aileni, Former Dean Professor, Department of Management, Osmania University and Dr. Appasaheb A Keste, Principal, M.E.S College of Engineering, Pune inspected Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country established in 1994 with its headquarters at Bengaluru.

The NAAC Peer Team assessed the existence of holistic processes related to Engineering Education System. Their focus was student-centric and the overall satisfaction of the stakeholders. They inspected the entire premises of the institute minutely - various Engineering Departments of the institute, E-Cell, products like SMART Helmet, Dream Kit, EDGE, Smart Plug, Research Centre, Hands-on-Experience Lab, Aero-Club, Library and various Departments of Engineering & MBA. They interacted with the stakeholders - alumni, parents and industry personnel. They also had a look at the operations of Support services like Placement, Food Court, Auditorium, Indoor Gym, Sports Arena, Hostel, Transportation, Bio Gas Plant, CENT. The NAAC Peer team also interacted with the Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff.

They were delighted with the meticulously planned campus, encouragement given towards skill development, Hands on Training and also beyond curriculum activities.

Accredited with “A” grade by NAAC committee with CGPA
score of 3.09

Two VTU Ranks for Sahyadri Followed by the NAAC Peer Team inspection, a joyous moment for all the Sahyadrians as the institution has been accredited with “A” grade by NAAC committee with CGPA score of 3.09. The NAAC “A” grade has opened new avenues to our institute since we can now go in for foreign collaborations, research funding and better placements. The institute sincerely thanks and owes its success to all the Stakeholders and Well wishers in this endeavor.

KCTU has approved Rs.1.15 Crores Research Project to Sahyadri

Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation (KCTU) has approved a research project proposal on ‘Development of prototype ethanol sensor product based on PLD Grown BiFeO3 thin films’ during the sixth meeting of State Level Committee for the sanction of financial assistance to R & D centres held at Bengaluru on 17th January 2017. Prof. Richard Pinto, Prof. Manjappa, Dr. Jayarama and Industry Partner Mr. Bhagavath, iWave Systems Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru were present during the meeting. The total fund approved by KCTU is Rs. 1.15 Crores (Order No. KCTU/R&D/SCEM-Ma/2016-17 dated:03-02-2017) out of which Sahyadri contribution is Rs. 65 Lakhs and KCTU contribution is Rs. 50 Lakhs. In connection with this project, it is worth mentioning that Prof. Richard Pinto has an Indian patent on growth of BiFeO3 films and its ethanol sensing properties obtained in 2002-03 during his days at TIFR-IITB. The Preliminary work has been done at IIT Bombay, Nano-Fabrication facility (IITB-NF) under the Indian Nano Users Program (INUP). This project was submitted by Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, as Chief Promoter, Dr. Jayarama A, Dr. Richard Pinto, Director-CENT, Dr. Niraj Joshi, Dr. Rathish R Gatti, Dr. Navin Bappalige and Prof. S. Manjappa, Director Research & Consultancy as Promoters from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management along with DTLabz, Sahyadri-edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd, Mangaluru and iWave Systems Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru as beneficiary Industries.

First year students of DTLABZ won “Best Freshers Award” at IIT, Kharagpur

Prof.-M-Radhakrishna,-Emeritus-visited-Sahyadri A team of sixteen, first year students trained by the Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. participated in KSHITIJ 2017 Asia's Largest Techno-Management fest held at IIT, Khargpur and have won the “Best Freshers Award”. They participated in three events, Conquest – To build a robot with Computer Vision Technology, Droid blitz – To build an amphibious boat which can travel both on land and water, Bricks – To build a robot which can segregate hollow and solid blocks.

Sahyadrians participate in 200th cleanliness drive rally of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan Sahyadrians participate in 200th cleanliness drive rally of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in Mangaluru spearheaded by Ramakrishna Mission got a big boost on Sunday, February 12th 2017 with veteran Bollywood actor, the renowned, Nana Patekar flagging off the 200th cleanliness drive rally and painting the wall of Mangalore University College at Hampankatta. A rally was taken out from Hampankatta to Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi, in which, along with Nana Patekar around six hundred 1st year students of Sahyadri had participated.

NIPM & Sahyadri jointly organise a National Conference in Sahyadri Campus National Institute of People Management (NIPM) in association with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organised a One-Day National Conference on “Leveraging Business Skills in line with current HR Trends and Employee Laws” in Sahyadri Campus. Delegates from industry, academicians and students from various PG Colleges were a part of the event.

CODEQUEST-and-HACKATHON Code Quest 2017 is Mangaluru's biggest coding festival organized in Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management by the institutes start –up companies, Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. and Host Zyro, CodeQuest 2k17 was inaugurated by Mr. Prashanth Shenoy, Co-Founder, CTO, Mangaluru Infotech (UniCourt). Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Prof. Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Dr. J V Gorbal, Dean Academics, Mr. Jacob Tellis, Director-DTlabz, Mr. Naresh, Co-Founder, Host Zyro were present during the occasion. 150 students from all over Karnataka participated in the event. UniCourt being the title sponsor, Radio Mirchi, the Radio partner, Olpa, the Website & App partner, StartUp Mitra as Outreach partner, Reliance Jio as Internet partner, Esports Arena as Gaming partner have made this venture of inspiring the hacker culture in Mangaluru a successful one.

Corporate to Campus (C2C) team of Infosys interacts with students

CREAM for First Year MBA Students Corporate to Campus (C2C) team of Infosys Mangalore visited Sahyadri and had an interactive session with the final and pre-final year students. They shared their expertise with the young minds, focusing on the topics relating to - Role in the IT Industry for non-IT professionals, growth trajectory and preparations, Real feel of the IT Industry and the evolution in it. Students were also briefed on structuring their resumes.

1,500 Sahyadrians participate in NITTE Mangaluru Marathon

1,500-Sahyadrians-participate-in-NITTE-Mangaluru-Marathon-1 A wave of enthusiastic runners filled the streets of Mangaluru in the 10 km half marathon organised by NITTE University and Dakshina Kannada Athletics Association. Athletes Mr. Anil Shetty and Mr. Shridhar Alva served as the brand ambassadors for the mega event. Participation by over 15,000 enthusiasts is said to be new record for the city out of which 1,500 were Sahyadrians.

Faculty invited as a plenary speaker at the International Conference

Dr. S A Mariadoss, Professor, Department of Mathematics was invited as the plenary speaker at the International Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science 2017 in Bengaluru.
