A Grand Inauguration of Sahyadri Conclave – Science, Technology & Management

Sahyadri Conclave Swami Jitakamanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru inaugurated Sahyadri Conclave – Science, Technology and Management by Lighting the Lamp in the august presence of Nobel Laureate Ada E Yonath, Nobel Laureate Serge Haroche, Shri. Basavaraj Rayareddy, Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka, Shri. M. R. Seetharam, Hon'ble Minister for Planning, Statistics, Science and Technology, Govt of Karnataka, Dr. Murli Dhar Tiwari, Former Director of IIIT, Allahabad & Dr. Shashikiran Shetty, Founder & Chairman, Allcargo Logistics, Mumbai. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation while addressing the gathering recollected the moment when he was invited to IIITA as guest for the Science Conclave. He said it was a great opportunity to meet the Nobel Laureates at IIITA which made the moment a memorable one for him. Since then, he wanted to create such happy and worthy moments for the students of his place and hence decided to organize Sahyadri Conclave as a social initiative to assist the students of rural areas for their growth and development.

Day Two of Sahyadri Conclave – Science, Technology & Management

TextDay Two started with the plenary session of Prof. Serge Haroche, Nobel Laureate who delivered a technical talk on “Controlling and manipulating single photon in a box- The scientific adventure of lifetime”. The second plenary session was facilitated by Prof. Satish K. Tripathi, President, University at Buffalo, USA. He spoke on “Change, Risk and Success – A Personal Story”. Plenary Session Three was facilitated by Vice Admiral N N Kumar, the Executive Director (Production) at BrahMos Aerospace Private Ltd. He delivered a talk on “BRAHMOS – A Journey of Excellence”. Panel Discussion was held on the theme “Water”. The panellists were Prof. T G Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, South West Regional Office, Prof. M N Vidyashankar, IAS, Former Additional Chief Secretary & Dr. K Chidananda Gowda, Former Vice-Chancellor, Kuvempu University, Shimoga.

Simultaneously, there were technical sessions held in various venues of Sahyadri to address the domain specific participants like Computer Science & Information Science, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical and also Management. While addressing the Computer Science & Information Science participants, Prof. Joseph Sifakis, Turing Awardi discussed about “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) revolution and impact of Internet of Things (IoT)” in daily life. Prof. Sathish K Tripathi, President, University at Buffalo, USA spoke on “The New World of Thinking Machines”. Mr. Amar Kumar Pandey facilitated a session on “Smart Cities”. Prof. Robert Richardson, Scientific Researcher in Robotics, Leeds University, UK spoke about “Exploration of Robotics”. While addressing the Electronics & Communication participants, Dr. Anish Arora, Professor, Ohio University, USA spoke on “Social Sensing Services for Smart Communities”. Dr. Kavi Mahesh, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad spoke on “Understanding Rainfall in India through Data Analytics”. While addressing the Management participants, Mr. Sandeep S P, HR Lead for Engineering, Technology and SCM Centre Rolls Royce India, Bengaluru, in his first session on “Fortifying HR for future” mainly focused on the insights into trends in Business and its implications on HR.

Text During the afternoon session of Day Two, Prof. Ada E Yonath, Nobel Laureate who was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize for Chemistry spoke on the topic - “From Eco-problems to Eco- Friendly antibiotics”. Dr. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, South West Regional Office spoke on “Sustainable Strategies for Water Resource Development using Rain Water”. Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University delivered a talk on “Disruptive Technologies”. Mr. M V Subramanian, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd. (FFI) and Mr. Sundaram Moorthy, the CEO of Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Ltd, Sahyadri Campus spoke on “Industry 4.0 with respect to Mechanical Engineering”. Mr. Hisashi Yamasaki San I, the Director of OTC Daihen India Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon, Mr. Kapil Dev Sharma, the Manager, technical support department of OTC Daihen India Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon and Mr. Kiran Thamankar (Deputy GM Sales Department), presently working with Japanese Welding & Robotic Multinational M/S OTC Daihen India Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon delivered a talk on “Trends on Welding Automation and Future for Welding automation in India”. Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police at Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru spoke on “Managing enterprise complexities” with specific reference to “Refugees right to return and reintegration –Mr. H V Dinesh Prasad, Founder Chairman & Principal, Noble School of Business, Bengaluru spoke on “Business Analytics”. Prof. M N Vidyashankar IAS, Former Additional Chief Secretary spoke about “Water Revolution 2”. Mr. Ramakrishna Y B, the Chairman - Working Group on Bio Fuels Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India spoke on “Climate change challenges – Importance of western Ghats”. Prof. Robert C Richardson, the Director of the Institute of Design, Robotics and Optimization and Director of the Leeds EPSRC National Facility for Innovative Robotic Systems spoke on “Robotic Inspection maintenance and repair of urban water systems”.

The third plenary session was by Mr. Ramakrishna Y B, the Chairman - Working Group on Bio Fuels Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India who spoke on “Bio energy initiatives in India-Cutting edge technologies and policy frame work”. Panel Discussion was held on the theme “Energy”. The panellists were Mr. Rajashekar Hiremath, President, Flexitron, Bengaluru, Mr. Sanjay Sahay, the Additional Director General of Police, Government of Karnataka and Ms. Yugratna Srivastava, Programme coordinator, Plant for Planet initiative. Mr. Deva P Seetharam, one of the co-founders and the CEO of DataGlen spoke on “Lifelong kindergarten: a fun approach to engineering a career”. Mr. V Krishna Venkataram, Professor & Head, Mechanical Engineering, PES Institute of Technology, Bengaluru spoke on “Mathematics in South Indian Classical Music with Special Emphasis on Percussion Instruments”. Mr. Chethan Shenoy, Associate Director & Head of Investment Products Anand Rathi Securities, Mumbai delivered a talk on “Application of Financial Planning & Wealth Management”.

Dr. Anish Arora, Professor, Ohio State University, USA, delivered a session on “Cyber security issues of IoT”. Prof. Satish K Tripathi, President, University at Buffalo, USA delivered a session on “Research challenges of 21st Century - a University at Buffalo perspective”. Prof. Serge Haroche, Noble Laureate in Physics delivered a talk on “A story about the interaction of light with matter in which water plays an important role”. Prof. Anuradha Agarwal, Principal Research Scientists, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA introduced the topic by speaking about smart food which is a journey from the Farm to the table. It includes food growth, transport, distribution and consumption. Mr. Bharath Shivappa, Director, Clients & Markets, Deloitte facilitated a session on “Marketing, a consulting services firm”. Mr. Dileep Chandra, India Country Manager - HRGS, HP Inc India addressed the gathering on “HR Shared service model”. Prof. Robert Richardson, Scientific Researcher in Robotics, Leeds University, UK spoke on “Robots are tools to design to achieve human goals”. Mr. Rajendran Dandapani, Business Solutions Evangelist, Zoho Corporation spoke about startup thinking, startup rules, and ideas of startup. Dr. Suresh Nagesh, Managing Director, Voith Engineering Services spoke about needs, opportunities and challenges in the field of alternative energy resources, how increase in the demand of global energy affects the economic growth, lifestyle of people and vice versa.

The second plenary session was by Dr. D P Agrawal, Former Chairman, UPSC of India on the topic - “Waste Disposal”. The third plenary session was by Mr. C D Balaji, a distinguished Scientist and Chairman, Centre of Excellence in Aerospace and Defence (CEAD) and Former Director, Aeronautical Development Agency who delivered a session on “Aerospace environment and ecosystem”. Panel Discussion was held on the theme “Environment”. The panellists were Prof. Jagadeesh Gopalan, Professor, Aerospace Engineering, IISC, Bangalore, Prof. S S Murthy, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka, Dr. B K Ravindra, Vice Chancellor, Alliance University, Bengaluru and PadmaShri Prahalad RamaRao, Advisor; S-VYASA University was the Moderator.

Valedictory Ceremony of Sahyadri Conclave – Science, Technology & Management

Sahyadri Conclave - Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru During the Valedictory Ceremony, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation shared the journey of the last five days of Sahyadri Conclave. He proclaimed that at the closure of Sahyadri Conclave, the end goal has been achieved which was to inspire students in the field of Science, Technology and Management. He expressed his willingness to hold Sahyadri Conclave next year as well to reach greater number of students with the support of the Government and other stakeholders.

Sahyadri  2018 Chief Guest - Mr. Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka in his valedictory remarks expressed how happy he was to be seated amongst the brightest of the world. He conveyed the various initiatives of the Government of Karnataka to drive innovation, generate interest among female students in science, incubation network centres and also about the support in terms of funded projects and grants to interested students. Guest of Honour - Prof. Uma Maheshwar Rao Karanam, Director, NITK, Surathkal appreciated the Conclave by referring to the Resource persons & the theme. Guest of Honour - Prof. K. Byrappa, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University appreciated the concept of bringing variety of specialists, technocrats of various disciplines together for a Conclave.

Two-Day Workshop on “System Design in the Era of IoTs” by Prof. Joseph Sifakis, Turing Awardee

Text Two-day workshop on “System Design in the Era of Internet of Things” by Prof. Joseph Sifakis, Turing Awardee was organized during 11th to 12th January 2018. On the Day One of the workshop, Prof. Sifakis discussed about technological convergence, vision, scientific and technical challenges involved in Internet of Things (IoT). He also emphasized risk factors affecting IoT systems. He also mentioned about the present day application that uses IoT to communicate between electronic devices.

Prof. Joseph Sifakis is Emeritus Senior CNRS Researcher at Verimag. His current research interests cover fundamental and applied aspects of embedded systems design. The main focus of his work is on the formalization of system design as a process leading from given requirements to trustworthy, optimized and correct-by-construction implementations. He has been a full time professor at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) for the period 2011-2016. He is the founder of the Verimag laboratory in Grenoble, which he directed for 13 years. Verimag is a leading research laboratory in the area of embedded systems, internationally known for the development of the Lustre synchronous language used by the SCADE tool for the design of safety-critical avionics and space applications. In 2007, Professor Joseph Sifakis has received the Turing Award for his contribution to the theory and application of model checking, the most widely used system verification technique today.

Noble Laureate inaugurates Sahyadri Mech-Tech Garage

Sahyadri Conclave Nobel Laureate Prof. Serge Haroche and his wife Ms. Claudine Haroche have inaugurated the Mech-Tech Garage in Sahyadri Campus. Mech-Tech Garage is a facility made available by Bhandary Foundation. Students design, build and test vehicles such as Student version of Formula car, All Terrain vehicle and Go-cart to participate in National & International competitions organized by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Addressing the students, Prof. Serge appreciated the efforts of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation and wished that the facility boost the learning & understanding of technology and also assist students in acquiring the necessary skill sets. Inauguration of Augmented & Virtual Reality Lab Augmented & Virtual Reality Lab, a Centre for building interactive & immersive experiences was inaugurated at Sahyadri in the presence of Padmashri Ananth Agarwal, CEO of edX, MIT,USA, Dr. Anuradha Agarwal, Principal Research Scientist at MIT, USA, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Mr. Johnson Tellis, Founder, DREAMERS. Mr. Sachin Ganesh, Founder, DreamSoft Innovations, shared the vision & goal of the lab. AR & VR lab will be utilized by students & faculty to create interactive games, educational videos & experiences.

Sahyadri has secured 4 ranks in the VTU Batch 2015-2017. 2 students from Computer Aided Design of Structures (M.Tech – Civil) Roopini S K (84.79%) and Rohith Kumar A S (83.91%) have secured 2nd and 3rd rank respectively. Vindhya Nayak (88.08%) from Structural Engineering (M.Tech – Civil) has obtained 3rd rank and Sayona Joseph (78.96%) from MBA has secured 6th rank. It is a proud moment for Sahyadrians to appear in the Top list of students among rank holders.

69th Anniversary of the Republic Day Celebrated in Sahyadri

Summit Technodyne Private The 69th anniversary of the Republic Day was celebrated in the Campus with hoisting the national flag by the Chief Guest - Colonel M A Rajmannar, Director, Army Recruitment Office, Kulur, Mangaluru. Captain M J Augustine, Group Captain, Indian Airforce and Retired Colonel Mahendra Babu were also present to grace the occasion.

Colonel M A Rajmannar is serving in the Indian Army since 1995. He has been trained at the Military Academy, Dehradun. He is B.Sc (Chemistry), M.Sc (Weapon Technology), MBA Certification in Fire Safety & Airport Security. He has served with the United Nations in West Africa and was part of the operations against the rebels in Africa. He was part of the Kargil War and was awarded Sena Medal for the gallant actions. He is keen in sports and represented the Indian Military Academy in Cricket in England.

Colonel M A Rajmannar was humbly delighted to be a part of the auspicious day. In his speech, he referred back to the history of the year 1930 on Jan 26th when Indian Congress decided to declare Poorna Swaraj and it took 17 years of all the freedom struggles we went through to remove the British from our country. He quoted the contribution of someone close to us in Mangaluru. He referred to the story of Rani Abbakka, a very staunch lady who was the chief of Kulur during 16th century. With this story of the brave women, he conveyed that when we decide something, we should work towards it and we can definitely achieve it. We have a great nation, great history and great leaders who can motivate us. He urged students to make small changes and these small changes put together will then become a large change for the nation and make it a better place to live in. Post his speech; students recited Bankim Chandra’s, “Vande Mataram”, the National Song. This was followed by Staff Sports Day organized by the Department of Physical Education.

AEROPHILIA 2018

Republic Day Aerophilia 2018, a National Level Aeromodelling competition held in Sahyadri campus was inaugurated in the presence of Group Captain M J Augustine, Colonel Mahendra Babu, Vice Principal Mr. S S Balakrishna, Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and Mr. Vishal Rao. While addressing the gathering, the guests shared their thoughts about Aerophilia, gist of their professional journey and declared the opening of Aerophilia 2018 by giving a throttle. The main event was Aerodesign which drove many aviation enthusiasts to the field. Highlight of the day was a Heli-show by International flyers Mr. Abdullah Gaseem, Mr. Eesa Saeed accompanied with Ms. Farah Al-Sauri. Apart from Aeromodelling, PC games, Rubiks cube, paper plane and Drone Race were also organized.

AEROPHILIA 2018 Second day of AEROPHILIA 2018 was livelier with energetic and enthusiastic participants. Second round of Aeromodelling was held for those who qualified from first round. Technical sessions were facilitated by Group Captain M J Augustine and Colonel Mahendra Babu. Sub events like Treasure Hunt, Paper Plane, Photography, PC Game and Water Rocket were also organized. Drone Race was a highlight of the day.

NITK Faculty visits Sahyadri Dr. Udaya Bhat K, Associate Professor, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Dr. Arun M Isloor, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Vijay Desai, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal visited Sahyadri Campus and interacted with the Chairman , Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. The guests viewed the student-centric initiatives in the campus and appreciated the innovative practices implemented for the holistic development of students. His research interests comprise of automatic analysis, fusion, and understanding of sensor data, especially development of methods for visual recognition tasks and dynamic scene analysis. He contributed in the area of active vision, 3D reconstruction, as well as object recognition and tracking. He is the author and co- author of over 250 journal and conference papers as well as technical articles. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE computer society, DAGM, and GI.

Student Counsellor invited as Resource Person for the Annual Special NSS Camp organized at Punjalkatte

Text Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as a resource person to demonstrate the extraordinary powers of the mind for the undergraduate B.Com students of Govt. First Grade Degree College, Punjalkatte during their Annual Special NSS Camp. He demonstrated and explained the Extra sensory Perception powers of the mind, illustrated how the mind receives information through senses, encoding and decoding, the memory capacity and signal strength of the mind, deja vu, dream analysis, sleep disorders, power of intuition, death, afterlife and paranormal experiences were also explained to the students through case presentations.

3rd Jan 2018 will indeed be a day to remember for me. Securing a rank in M.Tech wasn’t that easy, yet happy to see my name in the medal list column of the result sheet. 6 years in Sahyadri was definitely one of the finest learning experiences for me. There were ups and downs, and yes a little bit of struggle to go through the journey from being a normal student to a mastered engineer. I would take this opportunity to show my gratitude to all those people who were with me throughout my career, starting from my first day of LKG to the last day of MTECH, each and every person deserve to be thanked, and of course my parents who were always behind my back pushing me towards this goal. Special thanks to a few people who did not just show me the path towards this goal but guided me in each and every step that I took in my M.Tech career. Mr. Madhu Yaskhi Goud visits Sahyadri

January 15th – Indian Army Day  Mr. Madhu Yaskhi Goud, former Member of Parliament from the Nizamabad constituency and currently the Secretary of All India Congress Committee (A. I. C. C) had visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary.

He went around the campus and observed the institution in minute details and appreciated the professionalism in the road map of Sahyadri. He appreciated the Industry-Institute connection established at the campus, and the encouragement given to the Social innovative projects. He was amazed to witness the Hands on Experience Lab at the campus and stated that, it is unique to have one of these kinds in an Indian Institution. Also he quoted that Hand-on exposure is the need of the hour.

Anil Prabhakar, a Cyclist visits Sahyadri

Sahyadri  2018 Mr. Anil Prabhakar, a 32 year old cyclist from Bengaluru has quit his job to pursue his passion towards cycling. A Mechanical Engineer by profession was working in one of the private manufacturing company in Bengaluru as a Sr. Project Engineer. He started his journey on July 30th 2017 from Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru and covered close to 7,500kms until now. The route he covered so far: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Delhi, Chandigarh, Manali, Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Delhi, Jaipur, Udaypur, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Valsad, Mumbai, Goa, Karwar, Shimoga & Mangaluru.

His objective is to promote health benefits of cycling - reduces fat, develops immunity, toned body and stress buster. He visited Sahyadri Campus and shared his experiences with Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal and staff members. He was fascinated by the facilities available for staff and students in Sahyadri campus and had words of praise for the institution.

Sahyadrians selected for AUVSI SUAS Competition 2018

The AUVSI SUAS Competition is designed to foster interest in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), stimulate interest in UAS technologies and careers, and to engage students in a challenging UAS mission. The competition requires students to design, integrate, report and demonstrate a UAS capable of autonomous flight and navigation, remote sensing via onboard payload sensors, and execution of a specific set of tasks. The competition has been held annually since 2002. The 2018 SUAS Competition will be held during June 13th to 16th. A total of 71 teams have been accepted into the competition: 36 domestic, 32 international, and 3 high schools. Click here to view the selected teams participating in the competition.

Faculty presents paper in an International Symposium at Taichung, Taiwan

Dr. Pushpalatha K, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering presented a research paper titled - “A New Multimedia Documents Clustering Approach based on Feature Patterns Similarity” in the 19th IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia (ISM2017) at Taichung, Taiwan. The paper was co-authored by Prof. Ananthanarayana V S, Dean (R&D), NITK.

Summit Technodyne Private Summit Technodyne Private Limited visited Sahyadri to conduct Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for the Engineering students of 2018 batch. 62 Students from 3 colleges had participated out of which 20 participants were from Sahyadri. Results are awaited.

Faculty attend Five-Day GIAN course  Prof. Mamatha Shetty, Prof. Sadhana and Prof. Sweekrithi Shetty from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended a Five-Day GIAN course in Visual Object Recognition organized by Mangalore University in association with MHRD during 15th January – 19th January 2018. Global Initiative of academic Network (GIAN) is an initiative approved by Union Cabinet in Higher Education which aims at tapping the talent pool of Scientist and Entrepreneur Internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.

Student Counsellor invited as the guest by Nitte University on the occasion of National Youth Day

Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as the guest by Nitte University on the occasion of National Youth Day. He was also asked to give a special talk on the life and ideologies of Swami Vivekananda. The Vice Chancellor of Nitte University Dr. Sathish Bhandary expressed his gratitude and appreciated the interaction session facilitated by the Student Counsellor.


Training at Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education

January 15th – Indian Army Day  Staff members of the institute, are undergoing training at the Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education. On the Day One there was an Inaugural Ceremony for which Dr. William Albertoni, Retd Neurosurgeon, London was invited as the guest. The Principal of RIMSE, Dr. Sudhakar addressed the team. Dr. William Albertoni shared his experiences working in India and association with Ramakrishna Mission. Swami Maheshatmanandaji delivered the presidential address. The first session was conducted by Swami Shantivratanandaji on Educational Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda followed by a session on From a Good Teacher to a Great Teacher by Sri D.T. Ramanujam. Post lunch session was conducted by Dr. Raghavendra Pai on the topic, Yogic walk Towards Total Wellness.

Day 2 of the training programme began with the prayer and Yoga Practice. The first session of the day was on “Effective Teaching” by Shri M S Raghu, Rtd Bank officer and currently a professional trainer. The second session was facilitated by Shri. Pradyumna K P on “Capable Teacher - Confident Student”. Post lunch, a session was conducted by Col. Mahendra on the topic “Past, Present and Future of Siachen Glacier” and also on “Self Management”. After the lecture sessions, the team was taken to tour the Knowledge Park, the RIMSE premises and also to Shri Ramakrishna Vidyashala. The day’s programme concluded with a video about Belur Matt and other inspirational videos.

Dignitaries visit Sahyadri

Sahyadri 2018 Mr. Haja Mohideen, President & CEO, Rocheston LLC, New York, Mr. Vasanth Davis, Vice President – Accreditation, Mr. Aditya P Nair Innovation Engineer and Mr. Anand Peruma, Digital Media Tech Lab had visited the institution and engaged the session on Innovation Strategy with the Engineering & MBA Graduates. During the visit, they met and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Principal, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi and the faculty members of the institute. They also engaged an interactive session with the faculty members on Innovation.

The session mainly focused on topics relating to Innovation, Disruptive Technologies, Internet of Things (IoT), Patents, Licensing and Intellectual Property. The session also covered the area such as making of user friendly interfaces and explained few other terminologies with demonstration.

Mr. Haja Mohideen is the founder of Rocheston, a New York based Benchmark & Standards Company with accreditation services in business, education and professional disciplines. A postgraduate in software engineering from Staffordshire University, UK, and with over thirty years of experience in IT, Mr. Haja has built a multi-million dollar business in the United States. Mr. Haja Mohideen, has over ninety industry certifications in Software, Data Security and Internet Protocol from Microsoft, Apple, Google, Motorola, Intel, Cisco, HP, CompTIA, IBM, Oracle, SAP and is the owner of multiple patents related to mobile phones and operating systems. He has also created the ‘Certified Chief Innovation Officer’ and the ‘Certified Master of Business Leadership (cMBL)’ certification and training programs which are being launched in universities and business schools around the world. They honoured our Chairman as ‘Distinguished Engineer’ for his tremendous contribution to the field of education.

Student Counsellor conducts workshop for HoD's at MITE, Moodbidre

Summit Technodyne Private Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited to conduct a half day workshop for the Principal, Vice-Principal, HoD's of all departments & Senior Grade faculty members of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodbidre on the topic – “Skills of Counselling”. Mr. Ankith explained the common Behavioural & Emotional Problems that a student may encounter and the skills required for a teacher to identify the problems of the students & effectively counsel them. Various case studies related to the concepts of counselling were discussed.

Extensive Survey Camp 2017-18 at Siddapura

Extensive Survey Camp 2017-18 concluded at Siddapura Extensive Survey Camp at Siddapura was organized for the third year Civil Engineering students. Mr. Sudeep Shetty, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering Solutions, Hebri an alumnus of our institution was the chief guest of the valedictory function. In his address, he motivated students to take up the inputs from the camp seriously and utilize the learning’s effectively. Dr. Premanand Shenoy, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal congratulated the students for successfully completing the Twelve-Day Survey Camp and also appreciated Prof. Smitha, Department of Civil Engineering, the Survey Camp Officer for the well-organised camp. Prof. Sunil Kumar K, HoD, Department of Civil Engineering advised the students to takeaway the positivity inculcated in them during the course of the camp for the future of their engineering career. Mr. Kadri Satish Shetty, Member of Grama Panchayat, Siddapura and Mr. Subramanya Rao, Integrated Medical Practitioner, Siddapura were also present during the valedictory ceremony.

Staff Sports day organized by the Dept. of Physical Education

Republic Day Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of Sahyadri participated overwhelmingly in the Sports Day organized by the Dept. of Physical Education on the occasion of Republic Day Celebration in the campus. There were several games and sports events organized and prize to be won. Prof. Sudhir Shetty, Dr. Shamanth Rai and Prof. Sunil Kumar, HODs gave away the prizes to the winners of the various events.

Student Counsellor nominated as the Honorary member for Advisory Board of MITE, Moodbidre

Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor is nominated as the honorary member for the MBA Departmental Advisory Board of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodbidre. He will be a consultant for the institute in matters relating to students well-being.

MBA Faculty at Public Hearing in MCF, Mangaluru

MBA Faculty at Public Hearing in MCF, Mangaluru Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA and Prof. Ramesh KG from the Department of Business administration were invited for a Public hearing at the MCF campus which was presented in front of the District Commissioner. This was in connection to their future plans for expansion, keeping in mind the views of the public. The MCF management presented a report on the various CSR initiatives taken up the company for environmental sustainability.

Dr. Vishal Samartha appreciated the MCF authorities on giving approvals for factory visits, internships regularly for the engineering and MBA students at MCF. She also said students who took up their internships seriously at MCF were suitably rewarded with high paid jobs in India & abroad. She mentioned that expansion of the MCF will be definitely supported as long as the job opportunities are given to people living in Mangaluru.

Prof. Ramesh remarked that in India we do not have shortage as far as fertilizer supply is concerned, however when we see the growth of this core sector on quarterly basis, we are far below on target. Hence, it would be beneficial if MCF starts off with second unit to make India a self-sufficient country in fertilizers.
