Sahyadri recognized as Advanced Partner Institute in Campus Connect Program by Infosys
Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management is recognized as Advanced Partner Institute by Infosys for successfully running several Foundation Program batches under its Campus Connect Initiative. Nine batches of students have undergone the course since 2011. Faculty members regularly attend “Train the Trainer” programs conducted by Infosys and in turn they train the students. As part of this program, Infosys conducts workshops and series of webinars on latest technologies. Due to successful implementation of the program, Infosys awarded certificate to the institute during the Principal’s meet-2017 held at Infosys Technologies, Bengaluru.

Team Challengers positioned 6th in SAE International Aerodesign West at Fort Worth, Texas
Team Challengers participated in SAE International Aerodesign West held at Fort Worth, Texas and secured 6th position in micro class category. The team comprised of Probid J Panikkan, Gerald K Antony, Gouse Khan, Amrutha Khandare, Midhun Jyothis, Pranamya, Shilpa, Shwetha and Mohammad Anwar. The team is now geared up to participate in SAE International Aerodesign East to be held at Florida in the month of April 2017.
SAE international Aerodesign is conducted by Lockheed Martin and Dassault system and 75 teams all over the world participate in this competition every year.

Sahyadrians win first prize in NIT, Tiruchirappalli
Students of first year Engineering won first place in the event “Robovision” at Pragyan 2017 - The Annual International Techno-Management fest of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli amongst participants from various IITs and NITs, under the guidance of Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. The team was successful in building an image processing robot which could recognize shape and colour and then collect these resources and return to its home position autonomously to achieve the target score using an overhead camera feed. The team completed the entire task in just 36 seconds and was the only robot to finish the task with maximum points.

Sahyadrians one among the Top Eight in International Event at IIT – Kanpur
Our students participated in the “Techkriti” event held at IIT Kanpur with active participation in two events namely Manoeuvre and IARC.
Manoeuvre was an event in which the participating team was required to build two manually controlled robots capable of picking blocks from one part of the arena and stacking them up in the other part of the arena. IARC was an international event that witnessed teams from Nepal and Bangladesh. Sahyadri Team had the pleasure of being one among the top eight in the International finals.
Sahyadrians won the” Best Technical Innovation Award” at NIT Jamshedpur
A Team of our First year engineering students, Pro-Motors, accompanied by Mr. Gautham Nayak, Technical Trainer, DTlabz participated in a Three Day Technical fest, OJASS’17 held at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. Our students took part in the events, Tachyon (Line follower) and Shape Shifter. Shape Shifter required the participants to build a robot which can traverse in different arenas, pick and place objects based on the problem statement. The team was successful in completing the task and thus won the “Best Technical Innovation Award” for their creative work of building the robot. It was the only robot which operated wirelessly amongst all the robots of other teams from various NIT’s and IIT’s.
Sahyadrians participate in the event ‘AKAAR' held at IIT, Bombay
M.Tech Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering and CADS) participated in 'AAKAAR 2017', India’s largest Civil Engineering Technical Fest held at IIT, Bombay. They were ranked third out of 70 teams who had participated in the event named “Seismic”, which presented a challenge in which the team had to design efficient and sustainable earthquake resistant structure. The students were given a task wherein they had to design and build a two storey structure that can withstand maximum earthquake acceleration and show minimum inter-storey drift.
Civil Engineering students of Semester Eight also participated in the 'AKAAR' held at IIT, Bombay, and thus took part in the event Smart Pitch - Idea presentation, Bridge it - Design of Hydraulic Lift Bridge, Civil Q - National Level Quiz Competition and SEISMIC - Earthquake Resistant Structure, while the students of Semester Four participated in 'CONQUER IT' - Design of Concrete Cube using Steel Fibers.
Sahyadrians qualified to top 8 at IIT- Roorkee
A Team of our First year engineering students participated in the robotics event; Cyborg-Breakin and Robosepian held at IIT Roorkee and was qualified to top 8 among the 25 participating teams. In the event, Cyborg breakin the team had to build an autonomous bot and manual bot where one bot had to collect beans and another had to release beans in 3 zones, while Robosapien was an event, wherein the teams had to build bots which had to be a line follower and a wall follower. Our students were accompanied by Ms. Nisha, Assistant Professor from the department of Electronics & Communication engineering and Mr. Santhosh, Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd.

World Water Day observed at Sahyadri Campus
Department of Civil Engineering in association with District Legal Services Authority, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board observed the World Water Day at Sahyadri Campus. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Mallanagouda, Senior Civil Judge & Member Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Dakshina Kannada. Prof. M. S. Mohan Kumar, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
The formal function was followed by the technical sessions to Civil Engineering students. Prof. M.S. Mohan Kumar, delivered a theme speech. Dr. S Manjappa, delivered a technical talk on “Water for Food Energy and Health.” The third session was followed by “Industrial Waste Water Treatment & its Reuse.” The students interacted with the resource persons during the respective sessions.

Grand Finale Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2017
The Grand Finale of ‘Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2017’, an inter-collegiate quiz competition was held in Srishti, Sahyadri Open Auditorium. Out of 5,000 students who appeared for the Campus Level Quiz, 750 participants of 31 colleges from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Madikeri and Kasargod districts qualified for the Grand Finale. The day witnessed a mammoth crowd of students who were enthusiastic to combat in the mega final. In the Inaugural Ceremony, Prof. Ramesh K G, Chief Coordinator of the event welcomed the gathering and gave a glimpse of our institute and also the achievements of the department. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, Department of Business Administration gave the bird’s eye view of the flagship event - Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2017 and stressed that the basic premise of conducting this event was to create Knowledge Capital which plays a key role in today’s competitive world.
Mr. Kishan Shetty, Chairman and MD of Chloris Group of Companies, the Chief Guest in his inaugural address congratulated Sahyadri for conceiving the great idea of quizzing in the region. He re-iterated that quiz creates curiosity and curiosity is the mother of learning. Curiosity in every walks of life leads to success and hence he advocated all the students to be curious throughout their life and enjoy the process of learning. Mr. Guruprasad H D, Talent HR Manager at KPMG, Guest of Honour, in his speech, mentioned that he has been associated with Sahyadri for Campus Placements since several years and applauded the students who are recruited from Sahyadri as they are the most hard-working and stand out with their exemplary performance. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, while addressing the gathering advised students to nurture humbleness and simplicity in their lives and encash this opportunity to interact with the rest of the student community from various colleges.
The programme was a blend of Quiz and Cultural Show spiced up with the peppy talk from Mr. Abhijith Karkera, Managing Partner and Marketing Head, VIBRANT MINDS. MAPS College, Mangaluru emerged as the Champions with a trophy and Cash Prize of Rs.25000/- and two teams from SDM College, Mangaluru won 2nd and 3rd Prize with trophy and cash prize of Rs.15000/- and Rs.10000/-.

Higher Education Review "Beyond IIMs Top B Schools in India" March 2017 Survey has ranked Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management as 38th among the 100 B-Schools across India & 7th among the Top B-Schools with Industry Exposure.
Higher Education Review Magazine conducts this survey to guide the large community of students in India and their parents to enable them to choose the best institutes for management education to pursue the course of their choice.
MBAs present the State Budget 2017-18
 The Department of Business Administration organized a presentation and discussion of State Budget 2017-18 at campus. Three Groups comprising of eleven students presented on three themes viz (a) Health, Education and other welfare programmes (b) Infrastructure and Industrial Development Programmes (c) Agriculture and Rural Development programmes that were proposed in the State Budget presented by Honorable Chief Minister Shri. Siddaramaiah on the 15th of March 2017.
Students Celebrate the Festival of Colours
Student Council representatives had organized “Rang 2k17” in view of celebrating the festival of colours – Holi. Sahyadri was vibrant with colours and this festival created a unique bond between all members of the Sahyadri family as the celebration reverberated with joy, music and laughter.
Faculty Member Successfully Defend PhD Thesis
Prof. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering defended his PhD thesis entitled “Design and Development of Dictionary Matching Technique for Composite Sketches with Human Face Images” at Karunya University, Coimbatore. The research work was guided by Dr. G. Josemin Bala, Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Karunya University, Coimbatore.
Dr. Lokesh conferred Ph.D by Mangalore University
 Mr. Lokesh was conferred with a Ph.D for his research on “AGRICULTURE CREDIT BY BANKS IN DAKSHINA KANNADA DISTRICT - AN ANALYSIS FROM BORROWERS AND LENDERS PERSPECTIVE” under the guidance of Dr. Ishwara P, Professor, Department of Commerce during the 35th Annual Convocation of Mangalore University, Mangala Gangothri.
