Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration
Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated at campus with floral tributes given to the Father of the Nation by Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Prof. Umashankar B S, Dean Academics, Department Heads and other Management Staffs along with students.

Chairman conferred with Eminent Engineer of the year Award 2016 by The Institution of Engineers (India)
Chairman of Bhandary foundation, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, is awarded for his meritorious services in the field of Education and social activities on the 49th Engineers day celebration, by The Institution of Engineers (India) Karnataka State Centre, Banglaore in the august presence of renowned Engineers, Scientists from DRDO, IISc, NAL, VSSC and many practicing and retired Engineers. This is an annual flagship event of Institution of Engineers where they recognize the contribution of Engineers in various allied fields.
Chairman addressed on the theme of “Skill development for Young Engineers to reform the core Sector: Vision 2025”. Our Engineering education should cater to address the social issues. Since we cannot foresee the expectations in 2025, but skills can be nurtured to meet any dynamic challenges. He focused on how the intellectual capital of Premier Institute like IISc, IIT, NIT is not directly impacting the society due to brain drain, despite huge investments on them. Every act of learning should collate to prepare students as Practicing Engineers. He remembered the versatile traits of Sir MV and wished if everyone treads his footsteps it would be a different world.
He expressed that award belonged to every stakeholders of Sahyadri, in the form of students, staff, Industry personnel who have mentored students.

Chairman inaugurates Dakshin Kannada Junior Athletics Meet
Dakshina Kannada District Junior Athletic meet organized by Dakshina Kannada Athletics Association was inaugurated by Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary at the Mangala Stadium, Mangalore. 1100 athletes from all over the district participated in the event, including the Sahyadri athletics team.
Mithun Shetty of Semester one from the department of Computer Science & Engineering has won the Best Athlete award in the event.

Mr. Binay Shetty, Non-Executive Director, NMC Health visits Sahyadri
Mr. Binay Shetty, Non-executive Director, NMC Health accompanied by Dr. Sirish Shetty and Mr. Ravi Bakhru visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. They very much appreciated the campus infrastructure and were impressed by the various facilities available to impart education in a holistic way.
Mr. Binay Shetty was appointed to the Board of NMC Health plc in June 2014 as a Non-Executive Director. Prior to which he was Chief Operating Officer for the Group. As COO, he oversaw operations of NMC Health’s healthcare and distribution divisions including the HR, Marketing, IT and Projects units of the organization. Mr. Shetty is a director of UAE Exchange, a leading global remittance and foreign exchange provider.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with specializations in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Boston University, Massachusetts, USA.

Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan - 2016
The Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan as a part of Swach Bharath mission had a cleaning programme organized at Kankanady area. Swami Dharma Vrithanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission flagged off the drive and addressed the students. Vice Principal, Prof . Balakrishna, Dean academic Prof . Umashanker, A.A.O, Mrs. Shreelatha and few faculties along with first year students from C & D section had taken part in the cleaning drive. The mutt had provided with cleaning materials, including brooms, gloves etc. along with motivational T-shirts and banners.

Team Challengers visit Beihang University China as spectators for IARC
Chethan Naik and Ankush Yete from Team Challengers visit Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Beijing Capital, China as spectators for International Aerial Robotics Competition(IARC). The International Aerial Robotics Competition is the longest running collegiate aerial robotics challenge in the world. Entering its third decade of advancing the state of the art in autonomous aerial robotic behaviour, the competition continues to tackle challenges that are currently impossible for any flying robots owned by government or industry.

Team CHALLENGERS registered for SAE International Aerodesign competitions in the United States of America (USA)
Team CHALLENGERS has successfully registered for SAE International Aerodesign West and SAE International Aerodesign East to be held at Fortworth, Texas and Air force Museum, Florida respectively in the month of March and April 2017. The competition is conducted by Lockheed Martin, the manufacturers of US Defence Aircrafts and Outer Space Technologies. The team had previously participated in SAE Aerodesign 2016, however this time it has taken up a challenge to participate in Micro and Regular class Aircraft category. The team consists of selected students from all the branches and semesters.

Sahyadri Green Cell Kicks off with an initiative of Medicinal Plants Garden
Medicinal Plants have a great role in human life and in ecology. Karnataka has rich diversity of medicinal plants. To increase the awareness among students and society about the importance of medicinal plants, Sahyadri has taken an initiative to develop a medicinal plants garden within the campus under the initiative of Sahyadri Green Cell. As a first move to kick start the activity, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Chairperson, Green Cell accompanied by the Green Cell committee members and Green Cell student volunteers planted the very first medicinal plant with an objective of establishing the medicinal plant garden to serve to its right cause.

Blood Donation Camp
Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (Civil Department & NSS Unit) in association with Lions Club, Bendoorwell, Mangalore and Indian Red Cross Society, Mangalore with the help of KMC hospital, Mangalore and Wenlock Hospital had organized a Blood Donation Camp at Sahyadri campus.

Sahyadri ranked 2nd amongst the Promising Pvt. B-Schools & 16th amongst the Pvt. B-Schools in Karnataka
GHRDC-CSR B-School Survey 2016 conducted by GHRDC has ranked Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore as 2nd amongst the Promising Pvt. B-Schools and 16th amongst the Pvt. B-Schools in the state of Karnataka.
GHRDC being highly research - based organization, has been the pioneer in starting the concept and practice of rating and ranking B-Schools from the very inception of its organization and has since (1998) been involved in rating and ranking of B- Schools in India. This was followed by initiating the Survey and Ranking of Hotel Management Institutes in the year 2007 and Engineering College Survey since 2009.
The unique feature of GHRDC’s Survey methodology takes into consideration the holistic performance of an institute, considering both qualitative and quantitative factors together with relative and absolute value of each factor, which provide insight into an institute in all respects.
The result is being published in November 2016 issue of Competition Success Review Magazine.

Monsoon Camp by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd
Three days RENEW Monsoon Camp was organized by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. at Sahyadri Campus. The camp mainly focused on personality development and delivering technical knowledge to the student participants. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Abhishek Bhandary, CEO, Octaplus Mangalore. The 3 days camp included, Aero-modelling by Kinetic Hobbies, Mixed Martial Arts & Self Defence by Monkey Mayhem Fight Club Mangalore, Health Tips by Octaplus, Note Taking and Communication Skills.

A Slew of Recruitment Drives held during the month
• Infosys visited the campus as a Day one Company to conduct the pooled drive for the engineering students of 2017 batch. Twenty-six students of Sahyadri are recruited by Infosys which is highest in the pool.
• Sixty-four students from Sahyadri are recruited by Tech Mahindra in the pooled campus recruitment drive conducted for the batch of 2017.
• Six students of Sahyadri are recruited by ITC Infotech in the exclusive drive conducted at the campus for the batch of 2017.
• Nine students of Sahyadri are recruited by Mphasis in the exclusive drive conducted at the campus for the btach of 2017.
• iWave Systems conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for the graduating students of the 2017 Batch. One of our students, Namratha P. from the department of Electronics & Communication engineering has been recruited by iWave systems.

• Indian Navy conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for the graduating students of the 2017 Batch. 250 students from the pool colleges were part of the recruitment process.
 • SLK Software conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for the engineering, B.Sc. and BCA students of the 2017 batch. Anusha Hegde from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Chaitra K.L, Gunavathi and Kishor from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Mahammad Yunus C from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Gurumayum Jennish Sharma from the Department of MCA have been recruited by SLK Software.
