Swachcha Sahyadri & Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration

Swachcha Sahyadri The commemoration of Gandhi Jayanthi and Swachcha Sahyadri was observed at the college premises. Students from first year engineering and from the Department of Business Administration, teaching and non-teaching faculty of the institution took part in the celebration. The occasion was graced by Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal addressed the gathering and emphasised on the importance of having the sense of cleanliness within oneself. Students and staff volunteered to clean the surrounding areas of the campus as well as the public utilities like the bus stop.

Chief Minister of UP Shri. Yogi Adityanath releases book authored by faculty Dr. Ananth Prabhu G The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath ji launched the third book of Dr Ananth Prabhu G, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, titled 'I bought the Monks Ferrari'. The book will be in stores in December 2017. The proceeds from the sales will go for the education of Orphans.


Dr. Umesh M Bhushi nominated as the Member of VTU Grievance Redressal Committee

Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal has been nominated as the Member of the Grievance Redressal Committee of Mysuru Region Colleges affiliated to VTU by order of the Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University with effect from 27th September 2017. The committee is constituted as per the UGC Regulations in order to handle grievances pertaining to the Colleges affiliated to VTU in Mysuru Region. He will be serving as a member of the committee for a period of 2 years.

Chairman meets Mr. Rakesh Sharma Chairman meets Mr. Rakesh Sharma Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with Mr. Rakesh Sharma, the Research Cosmonaut, India. Ms. Deeksha Bhandary had the opportunity of having an autograph of Mr. Rakesh Sharma.

Mr. Sharma was elected to travel into space as a cosmonaut being part of a joint programme by ISRO and the Soviet Intercosmos space programme. On April 2 in 1984, he made his flight aboard the Soyuz T-11 and became the first Indian to achieve this feat. He was conferred with the honour of the Hero of the Soviet Union upon his return from space. He was also felicitated with Ashoka Chakra by the Indian Government.

Entrepreneurship An Option or Opportunity An introductory session on “Entrepreneurship: An Option or Opportunity?” hosted by StartUp Karnataka & TIE Bangalore was facilitated by Mr. Baliga BS, Member of TIE, Bangalore Chapter, Mr. Uday Birje, Co-Founder of Thinkstreet Technologies & Member of TIE, Bangalore Chapter & Mr. Vikas Goyal, Co-Founder of Thinkstreet Technologies & Member of TIE, Bangalore Chapter.

Entrepreneurship An Option or Opportunity Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, in his introductory note, stressed on the importance of holding this programme at Sahyadri. He re-iterated the current scenario with regards to declining employment opportunities and the need to transform as Job Creators rather than Job Seekers. He appreciated the initiative of the guests to contribute to the society by driving entrepreneurship as a culture so that the next generation do not have to go through hardships in building their career. He mentioned that we are in the era of closing companies as the StartUps are winding up due to lack of structure, mentoring and contribution. He expressed his aim to start TIE Mangaluru Chapter in Sahyadri and take it to a level that is globally recognised.

Mr. Baliga BS in his session on “Introduction to TIE & Role of TIE in developing Entrepreneurs” mentioned that the Government is facing challenges in providing job opportunities to the graduates and are driving Entrepreneurship immensely. By being entrepreneurs we are adding to the GDP of the nation which is the biggest contribution one can give to the country. He spoke about TIE and its success story resulting from mentoring and educating entrepreneurs.

Mr. Uday Birje in his session on “Innovation & entrepreneurship, StartUp Karnataka & StartUp India Schemes” urged the students to be Leaders than a follower and mentioned that through innovation and StartUp, one can lead a team and become a leader.

Mr. Vikas Goyal, in his session on “Demystifying Marketing for StartUps” gave information about the process how a StartUp can be made sustainable by recognising the idea, anticipating about the idea and satisfy the objectives from idea, followed by what start ups can avoid.

Entrepreneurship An Option or Opportunity TIE Global founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals has its roots in the Indus region. There are currently 13,000 members, including over 2,500 charter members in 61 chapters across 18 countries. TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, education, incubating, and funding. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs.

Division level contest of Toastmasters International held at Sahyadri

Division level contest of Toastmasters International held at Sahyadri The Division level contest of Division F of District 92 of Toastmasters International was held at the Sahyadri campus on Sunday, 29th October 2017. Over 150 toastmasters from across 15 clubs of the Division and from across Karnataka and Kerala participated in the event. The winners from this contest will participate at the next level to be held at the Hotel Leela Palace, Bengaluru on 18th and 19th November 2017. The contest was graced by the top trio of the District, DTM Sudha Balajee, District Director, DTM Nagarajan, Program Quality Director, DTM Rajkumar Bansal, Club Growth Director, DTM Anita Cordeiro, District Administration Manager, and other Division Directors and Area Directors of the District Council.

Toastmasters International with its headquarters in USA, is a world leader in communication and leadership development. It has more than 7,40,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,500 clubs in 142 countries that make up the global network of meeting locations. More than 50 percent of the Fortune 500 companies have Toastmasters clubs. They have been instrumental in building confidence among their members, improving their communication and leadership skills and networking.

Currently, there are around 450 toastmasters clubs in India spread across educational institutes, corporate and general ie., open to public. District 92, comprising of Karnataka and Kerala have 204 clubs.

Sahyadrians participate & Win in TATHVA 2017 NIT Calicut Sahyadrians participate & Win in TATHVA 2017 NIT Calicut Sahyadrians participated in the National Level Technical Fest - TATHVA 2017 organized by National Institute of Technology Calicut. It had a wide array of events spanning all technical Sahyadrians participate & Win in TATHVA 2017 NIT Calicutdomains, speaker series & workshops on the hot topics from technical world which included technical events like Albatross, Death race, Aqua GT, Dirt race, Amazed, league of Machines, Hack-a-holic, The Debugger, Transpoter, Sky Scrappers, Bob the builder, MindKraft & Aqua Strike.

Students from TEAM CHALLENGERS Won first prize in the Albatross event, and third prize in the event Mindkraft.

Monsoon camp hosted by DTLabz

Monsoon camp hosted by DTLabz Monsoon camp was hosted by DTLabz during 19th to 22nd of October 2017.

The theme for the camp was to see a transformation in the children behavior i.e., Metanoia and there were 48 campers belonging to 10-14 age group. The first day’s theme was Exploring the artist in every child where Mr. Johnson Tellis began the day with an ice breaker game. Post this the campers were introduced to their mentors. He taught the campers about mind mapping and the benefits of having your goals sketched out pictorically. Mr. Gautham Nayak taught how to sketch their ideas more creatively and gave the campers an experience how to convert their ideas into a prototype using onshape software. The campers were given a chance to have their own keychains.

The second day focused on Exploring the programmer in every camper. The day began with an ice breaker involving all which brought out team spirit and bonding amongst them. Mr. Sachin Ganesh taught the campers about Flowcharts, Arduino, Servo, LED, LDR, Bluetooth, and M block. The objective was to develop love for coding by understanding the concept of writing a flow chart and algorithms. The afternoon session was enjoyed by the campers as Mr. Shrajan Bhandary taught to develop their own application. The objective of this session was to bring out their confidence in coding. The campers bonded with their mentors by having a small activity.

During the Day 3 of Monsoon Camp, the theme was to explore the Maker in every child. Mr. Johnson Tellis showed the campers how to assemble a robot.

The objective of this activity was to encourage campers to show interest towards science, understand the concepts and make projects. Mr. Gautham Nayak facilitated a session on designing visiting cards and make power point presentation using Canva software. Further, Mr. Sujay demonstrated how to edit a video using Video studio Corel X10.

During the Day 4, the theme was “Exploring the real you” which saw transformation in the campers. The campers were given time to prepare for their presentation where they learned how to face the audience, how to express their words through actions, to be confident and have faith in oneself. The special event was ‘Clash of Robots’ in which campers had an actual feeling of an event. The objective of this event was to learn what team spirit is, how to accept failure and be happy with the success.

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary meets Chairman of AICTE at the National Conference in Chennai Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), at the National Conference on “Quality Assurance, Accreditation & Ranking of Engineering Institutions: Challenges & Opportunities” by the Education Promotion Society for India, held at Chennai. The conference witnessed active participation from Chairman, President, Director, Dean, Principal, and Professor of the various Institutions.

Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) formed by a group of senior educationists, educational entrepreneurs, intellectuals, industry leaders and policy makers EPSI has assumed a catalytic role in promoting the growth and quality of education in India.

Placement Highlights

Twenty Seven Sahyadrians recruited by Infosys • Infosys visited the campus as a Day one Company to conduct the pooled drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. 27 Sahyadrians got selected. Mr. Pramod M V, Senior Lead – Talent Acquisition, Infosys Ltd. accompanied by the panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process.

Indian Navy visits Sahyadri for recruitment drive • Indian Navy visited Sahyadri for recruitment of Final Year Engineering Students under University Entry Scheme for Technical Executive. 260 students participated and SSB results are awaited.

• Sowjanya S, final year MBA student has been recruited as a Compliance Specialist by Thomson Reuters, Bengaluru.


IBM Recruitment Drive • IBM visited Sahyadri to conduct exclusive campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. 9 Students from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, 3 from the Department of Electronics and Communications and 5 from the Department of Information Science were recruited by IBM.

Sahyadrians recruited by iWave • iWave visited Sahyadri to conduct the campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. Three Sahyadrians got selected.

Mphasis Recruitment Drive  • Mphasis visited Sahyadri to conduct exclusive campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. Twenty one Sahyadrians have been shortlisted by the company for the position of Associate Software Engineer.

Robosoft-conducts-Pool-Campus-Recruitment-Drive • Robosoft visited Sahyadri to conduct Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. Six Sahyadrians have been selected by the company for the position of Software Engineers.

ITC Recruitment Drive • ITC Infotech visited Sahyadri to conduct exclusive campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2018 batch. Twenty five Sahyadrians have been shortlisted by the company.

Maple Technologies conduct Pool Campus Recruitment Drive • Maple Technologies visited Sahyadri to conduct Pool Campus Recruitment drive for the 2017 batch passed out students. One Student has been selected for the post of Customer Relations Executive.

Novigo Solutions Recruitment Drive • Novigo Solutions Pvt Ltd. visited Sahyadri to conduct Campus Recruitment drive for the Engineering students of 2018 batch. Five Sahyadrians have been selected by the company for the position of Software Engineer.

Sahyadrian Recruited by Juego Studios • Akshith Kumar, Department of Computer Science and Engineering has been selected by Juego Studios, in the recently held Campus Recruitment Drive of 2018 batch, for the position of Software Engineer.

• Customer XPs Software Pvt Ltd.,visited Sahyadri to conduct Campus Recruitment Drive for the Engineering students of 2018 batch. 63 Students attended the drive. The results are awaited.

Campus Recruitment Drive by KPMG GDC • KPMG GDC, conducted the campus recruitment test for the MBA students. 57 students from Finance specialisation participated in the drive. Mr.Guruprasad and HR team of KPMG-GDC will be visiting the campus for the final round of selection process.
