Chairman and Dr. Manjappa interact with delegates at AHMP Conference at Washington, DC

Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director, Research and Consultancy interact with international delegates at Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP) Conference at Washington, DC, USA. AHMP provides a cross-training tool that helps Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professionals quickly and effectively obtain knowledge in new areas of Science and Technology. The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) is designed as a broad introduction to the industry and provides instruction about laws and regulations as well as technologies and practices.

Inauguration of Sahyadri Student Council by Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Karnataka

Sahyadri Student Council was inaugurated with great pomp and pride in the presence of Chief Guest Shri. Basavaraj Rayareddi, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Karnataka, Guests of Honour Shri. B. A Mohiuddin Bava, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mangaluru City North, Shri. Aditya Gupta, CEO, India Didactics Association and Dr. Byrappa, Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University. Sahyadri Student Council is initiated by the students and for the students. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, welcomed the gathering and highlighted how Sahyadri stands out in providing opportunities to students to enhance their employment. He also mentioned that Sahyadri gives encouragement and nurtures Leadership and the Chief Guest for the day is the role model for leadership. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi urged the student council to be empathetic, modest and be grounded in leadership positions.

Prof. S S. Balakrishna, Vice-Principal invited the student council members onto the dais. These were honoured by the Chief Guest. The Student Council was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and Mr. Nagaraj, Council Member of MBA, administered the Oath.

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation in his Presidential Remarks mentioned that Sahyadri focuses on developing leadership quality among students together with academics. He highlighted that student’s walk-in to Sahyadri with an IDEA, get an exposure to identify social problems with the help of faculty team, Develop the concept, Convert them as a project and finally walk out of Sahyadri with a Product. He re-iterated the Vision of Sahyadri that it makes students not Job seekers but Job Creators. He shared an anecdote to prove that Sahyadri is unique and that it has not only grown in Quantity since its inception but also in Quality. He invited each and every individual to be a stake holder of Sahyadri by contributing their time to this institution. He concluded his speech by stimulating the student council to Live like a Leader at Sahyadri and carry it throughout the life.

Shri. Aditya Gupta mentioned that the role of a teacher is now changing to be a guide and hence the students should lead themselves. He appreciated the positive vibe he gets when he visits Sahyadri. He also emphasized that entrepreneurs are not born but created, hence he wished students to be successful entrepreneurs and contribute to the society.

Shri. Mohiuddin Bava appreciated the Quality of education provided in India that has developed the nation and also congratulated Mr. Manjunath Bhandary for leading such a Quality Institution in Karnataka. He also appreciated the achievements of Sahyadri and its contribution to Research.

Shri. Basavaraj Rayareddi emphasized that with the advancement in technology it is imperative to have an Engineering and MBA college like Sahyadri. Our Engineers are moving abroad in search of jobs and the Government is not alone responsible for providing employment opportunities but each student should join hands for employment. Shri. Basavaraj Rayareddi awakened the gathering by quoting how China is moving rapidly on GDP, hence Engineers and MBAs should contribute to India’s GDP as well.

Chairman and Principal attend “The Asian Summit on Education & Skills Conference” in Bengaluru

The Asian Summit on Education & Skills Conference was inaugurated in Bengaluru. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation and Principal Dr. Umesh M Bhushi have attended this conference.

Engineer’s Day observed at Sahyadri

On the occasion of Engineer’s Day, the College paid homage to Sir. M. Visvesvaraya. The Principal, the HODs, the faculty, the staff and the students showered flowers on the statue of Sir. M. Visvesvaraya commemorating him on his birthday.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya was a man who excelled in various fields. He is remembered today as an engineer par excellence, a highly respected statesman and a visionary thinker. He is known to be the greatest engineer of all times, who with his vision and dedication in the field of engineering made some exceptional contributions to India. Owing to his contribution, he was honored with the highest state award of India, the “Bharat Ratna”, in the year 1955. He was the chief designer of the flood protection system designed and built for the city of Hyderabad, as well as the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysore which created the largest reservoir in Asia at that time.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya was knighted as the Commander of the Order of Indian Empire (KCIE) by the British for his contributions to the society in the year 1915. He is also the recipient of several honorary doctoral degrees from eight universities in India.

He dedicated his life towards the building of the nation and he epitomized all the qualities of an ideal engineer throughout his life. Hence, today we honour this great luminary by celebrating his birthday as ‘Engineer’s Day’. t failure is the stepping stone to success. Unless we perform an action, we never know how close we are towards success.

Akshatha Nayak, Renita Dcunha, Shreyas G & Nagraj K M, 2nd year MBA students (Batch YR 2016-17) have been offered in the recently concluded interviews conducted by Jaro Education. For the first time at Sahyadri we have students of MBA being placed while the students are still in third semester of their studies. Renita Dcunha, Shreyas G & Nagraj K M would be placed as Career Development Manager with a package of 6.06 lakhs per annum and Akshatha Nayak would be placed as Recruitment Executive (Management Trainee) with a package of 4.62 lakhs per annum.

Hack-A-Dream-2016 organized by DTLabz

After 12 hours of blood, sweat and tears, Hack-A-Dream-2016, a hardware hackathon organized by DTLabz came to an end on 18th September, 2016. Total of 76 students participated in the event. The valedictory ceremony was held in the Sahyadri Campus. Mr. Abdul Kareem, Vice-Principal & Dean Research, Bearys Institute of Technology and Mr. Prajwal, Managing Director & Founder of Mangalore Robautonics Pvt. Ltd were the panellists of the event. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Mr. S. S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Dr. Umashankar, Dean Academics and Faculty members were present during the occasion.

The winners were:

Sahyadri recognized under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956

Sahyadri has been included in the list of colleges prepared under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956 under the head ‘Non-Government Colleges teaching upto Master’s Degree”. This recognition facilitates in applying to various UGC grants for research and development.

Staff and students can avail the UGC recognition and plan to foster research grants for your work.

Revaluation Results bring First Rank to a student of Civil Engineering Department

Ms. Sthuthi. K. A, currently in the Fifth Semester of Civil Engineering, secured First rank after the revaluation results of the fourth semester VTU Exams, held in the month of June 2016. She has scored 804/900 with a percentage of 89.33%.

First Rank in VTU M.Tech CAD Structures

Ms. Sasha Rai P, M.Tech CAD Structures (YR 2014 – 16 Batch) secured First Rank in VTU in CAD Structures. Her aggregate is 87.08%. She has done her project work under the guidance of Dr. D. L. Prabhakara, Director, Sahyadri Educational Institutions. Director, Principal, HOD and Staff-Department of Civil Engineering congratulates and wishes her ALL THE BEST in her future endeavours.

Student secures 1st Prize in National Level Paper Presentation

Mr. Jeethan G R, final year Civil Engineering, secured 1st Prize in paper presentation in the Two Day National Level Students Technical Fest "ADVITIYA 16" organized by the Civil Engineering Department of K.L.E Institute of Technology, Hubballi. The paper presentation was about extraction of arsenic content from water by using different layers of filters.

Dr. Abdul Rahiman, Former Vice-Chancellor of Kannur & Calicut Universities visits Sahyadri

Former Vice-Chancellor of Kannur & Calicut Universities, Dr. Abdul Rahiman, a resource person with the experience of formerly being NAAC committee member had visited the college and interacted with the Head of the Departments, Dean, Vice-Principal and Principal.

He had an interactive session with our team and guided them about the documentation and the points that need to be kept ready at the time of inspection. As an experienced person in the field of NAAC accreditation and inspection, he highlighted about the development of robust education system.

His valuable suggestion and guidelines were a true eye opener for the team to get prepared for the NAAC inspection and also in fine tuning the documentation.

Campus Recruitment Drives for 2016 batch of students

Larsen & Toubro Limited conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2016 batch at the campus. 119 students from the pool colleges were part of the recruitment process. Ms. Vidyashree from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has been recruited by the company.

Fidelis Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2016 batch at the campus. Thirty students from the pool colleges were part of the recruitment process, out of which one has been shortlisted by the company.


Estuate Software Pvt. Ltd. conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2016 passed out batch at the campus. Mr. Harish Suvarna, Program Manager, Estuate Software Pvt. Ltd. was at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process.
