Sahyadrians Selected by orate

Twenty students of Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering have been selected by Orate in the recently held campus recruitment drive at Sahyadri.

Zonal Level “Speak for Karnataka” Intercollegiate Debate Competition

The Times of India and Vijay Karnataka in collaboration with the Federal Bank conducted the zonal level event `Speak for Karnataka’ an intercollegiate Debate Competition which was held in Sahyadri.

Mr Deepak Thimaya well-known television personality, Journalist, Writer, Educationist, Trainer, Entrepreneur, Film Maker, Producer, Motivational Speaker, Counselor, Political Analyst and Advisor was present on this occasion. He said that debate competitions are necessary to build leadership, knowledge and values in the younger generation.

Mr. Thimaya appreciated Times of India and the Federal Bank for taking up the initiative to conduct debates among the youth. He stated that debates lead to discourse on various in an affable manner. He encouraged the youth to conduct healthy debates and to have discourses so that the opinion of the youth is widely heard.

He further said, “Debate competitions gives courage to the students to question critical issues prevailing in society and one learns to respect the other’s point of view. Through debate we can make our future generation understand democracy in a better way.” He suggested that the participants debate in a responsible way and wished them all the very best.

The Zonal Level Competition had participants shortlisted from the district level. Twelve winners of the district level debate competition participated in this event and the results are awaited. The objective behind organizing this competition is to produce better citizens and professionals who have values like sociability, mutual respect and esprit de corps instilled in them.
