MBAs on an Outbound Training in Madikeri

MBAs on an Outbound Training in Madikeri 168 students from the first year MBA accompanied by five faculty members participated in Outbound Training Programme at Bhagamandala, Madikeri District. The training aimed at developing skills based on a series of tasks which tested them on bonding, strategizing, planning, out of the box thinking, people management and even financial management.

The students were divided into 10 teams and each team was given 55 percent ownership in their company and 5 percent stake in each of the other 9 companies. Each team also started with a cash balance of Rs. 1 lakh. After every couple of tasks the teams were able to sell or buy stake of any other company in a secret auction. Based on their performance, each team got Rs. 40,000 to lose a maximum of Rs. 10,000 for every task. The cash in hand at the end of every two rounds determined their minimum share price for the auction. The winner team was evaluated based on the total cash in hand plus total net worth (total of the product of shares in a company multiplied by the last share price of respective teams). Hence this activity is called “NEIGHBOURS ENVY, OWNERS PRIDE”. In addition to this, the team was given a joker round “TASTE THE THUNDER” wherein if a team plays the joker before the task, their winnings or loss was doubled. The students were exposed to practicality of Marketing, Finance, HR and also leadership skills.

SIMPLYFLY - tested them on synchronizing which comes with at least one team member being Vocal and communicating instructions clearly.
THANDA THANDA COOL COOL -tested Patience and Proper Planning and coordination among team mates

DIMAAG KA BATTI JALA DE - A treasure hunt with extremely tough clues and aimed at improving Lateral Thinking
NO CONFUSION, GREAT COMBINATION - Participants understood the success of communication is in the way the instruction is perceived and not what is given
In between the tasks the teams also had to fire one person from their team which made them understand corporate reality of people management. For most of the students this was also their first experience to stay in dormitory and know the difficulties faced. Mr. Venkat Ramani and his team facilitated the training activities.
