Sahyadri has been selected for establishing Institute Innovation Council (IIC)

As per the norms and directives of Innovation Cell, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM) has been selected for establishing Institute Innovation Council (IIC).

Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar launched the ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program under Innovation cell of MHRD at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) headquarters in New Delhi on 21st November, 2018.

Speaking on the occasion the Union Minister said that universities are the main research centres of developed countries and because of their research they are at the top in global innovation ranking. He said that now Indian universities are also setting up research centres through IIC programme and in the next 2-3 years, good ranking in global innovation is expected. He also said that the educational advancement in higher education can only be achieved by encouraging best practices in innovation and advanced research. For this purpose, the Innovation Cell has undertaken many initiatives like Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA), Smart India Hackathon (SIH)-2019, etc.

The Union Minister also appreciated the efforts of the MHRD and AICTE officials to bring out this program and went on to say that this will contribute in the holistic development of education in the country.

Shri R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary (HE), MHRD; Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE; Dr. M. P. Poonia, Vice-chairman, AICTE; Dr. N. Saravana Kumar, Joint Secretary (TE); Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chairman, UGC; Dr. Abhay Jere, CIO, MIC; dignitaries from the central government agencies and more than 800 representatives from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and universities across the country were present on the occasion.

Dr. Manjappa Sarathi Director - R&D and President (IIC, SCEM) and Dr. Anush Bekal, Associate Professor, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Convener (IIC, SCEM) received the Institution Certificate in the august presence of Dr. M. P. Poonia, Vice-chairman; All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), at its Headquarters in New Delhi.

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has recently established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all HEIs across the country. MIC with the mandate to work closely with all HEIs will encourage the creative energy of student population to work on new ideas and innovation and promote them to create start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.

Academic Administrative Officer appointed as NSS Program Officer of Sahyadri College NSS Unit

Mrs. Shreelatha U.A., Academic Administrative Officer is appointed as NSS Program Officer of the Sahyadri NSS Unit. She has received the official Appointment Order from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to that effect.

Mrs Shreelatha U.A. has organised a number of programmes under the NSS Unit for students as well as the community. She has been activity involved in various community outreach programmes which have helped the college build goodwill for the institution among general public.

Sahyadri family congratulates Mrs. Shreelatha U.A., and wishes her the best for her future endeavors in this new capacity.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Pratian Technologies

Pratian Technologies conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive for the 2019 outgoing batch of Engineering students of the Computer Science, Information Science, and Electronics & Communication branches. A total of 96 students attended the drive. Results are awaited.

Mock Interviews conducted by Final Year Students

Mock interviews were conducted by the final year students for the pre-final year students. The students were shortlisted from the online test. Thirteen students attended the group discussion, which had a panel of 3 final year students each. Individual feedback was given to the students. All of them were personally interviewed by the final year students and were questioned on technical, non-technical most commonly asked HR questions. Three students were declared ‘mock interview selects' based on the overall performance.
