First Year Engineering students achieve in Technical Fests at Premier Institutes First Year Engineering students achieve in Technical Fests at Premier Institutes In Technical Fests at two Premier Institutes that the first year engineering students participated, the students achieved places and made name by competing with students of different engineering colleges.

Here is the summary of their achievement:
A total of 27 students from ‘Clan Samarpan’, under the mentorship of Mr. Vishnu U from Second Year Information Science and Engineering participated in ‘Youthopia-19’ at Dehradun Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand.
The team won the following prizes:
• 1st Place in Avoid-it
• 2nd place in Robo race
• 2nd place in RoboSoccer
• 3rd place in RoboSoccer
• 2nd place in Robosumo

Sixteen students from ‘Clan Sankalp’, under the mentorship of Mr. Vijeth G from Second Year Mechanical Engineering participated in 'SPHINX-19' at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (NIT), Rajasthan.

The team won places in the following:
• 2nd Place in Egg suicide
• 4th place in Line follower
• 6th place in Roborush
• Qualified in top 5 in water rocket

First Year Engineering students to participate in Event 'Saturnalia 19' at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Punjab Eleven students of Clan Udgam will be participating in Saturnalia-19, a technical fest to be held from 15-17 Nov’19. The team is mentored by Prof. Deepthi N, Dept of Mathematics.

The students will be participating in RC bot, Line follower events.

Sahyadri Placement team attended National Staffing Summit- 2019 held at Hotel Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru Sahyadri Placement team comprising of Ms. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean – Placements; Prof Ramesh K G, Dean – Strategic Planning; Prof. Girish M, Dept of Business Administration and Ms. Priya Rai, attended National Staffing Summit - 2019 at Hotel Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru, on 9th Nov’19.

The summit was organised by Global Workforce Management (GWFM), the 1st WFM forum in the world, initiated in India. HR functionaries from various industries also attended the summit. The summit included deliberations on various topics like "How AI will put Humanity Back to work", “Collaboration in the Gig Economy: Evolution or Revolution". There were a couple of panel discussions on topics like "Emerging Workforce Model", Partnership in Action: Talent Acquisition & Staffing Vendor", and "Disruption Tomorrow: AI, ML, Chatbot & Tech Platforms". GWFM Network Forum is a non-profit professional organization, comprising of a group of senior HR professionals committed to promoting the WFM movement in the global platform. GWFM is committed to the development of human resources through education, training, research and experience sharing. In India, it is one of the fastest growing professional forums.

A session on ‘Introduction to Arduino’ for Civil Engineering faculty A session on ‘Introduction to Arduino’ was delivered by Dr. Premanand Shenoy, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. The intent of the session was to highlight the applications of Arduino in the field of Civil Engineering and provide hands-on training for the department faculty.

In his address, Dr. Shenoy spoke about various components to build up an Arduino application and the IDE required for the same.

Nanosatellite Project Team from Challengers visited College of Fisheries, Mangaluru The Nanosatellite Project Team from Challengers visited the College of Fisheries, Mangaluru on 7th Nov’19. They met and interacted with Dr. Shivkumar Magada, Professor and Associate Director of Extension.

The team carried out discussions on problems faced in the field of fisheries and ocean sciences in the currently available satellite data. Professor Magada was very supportive and provided the team with unique ideas and also asked the team to work more on reviewing the current satellite data that is available. He further encouraged in doing literature surveys and gap analysis for the project.

The team will work on building a satellite in the college to solve these problems that are native to this region.

Mr. Madan Padaki is one of India’s major players in the field of education management and skill assessment having co-founded companies like 1Bridge, MeritTrac and Head Held High Services. He has worked tirelessly to promote entrepreneurship in India, as co-founder of Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME) and Sylvant Advisors. He is also a Governing Council Member of TiE Bangalore. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from NIE, Mysore and an MBA degree from S P Jain Institute of Management and Research.

As the present executive director of TiE Bangalore and the leader of open innovation at NASSCOM Centre of Excellence, Mr. Vijetha Shastry is a reputed advocate of entrepreneurship in India. He possesses over 25 years of experience in the service industry and has been a consultant for BHIVE Workspace with regards to customer experience, community engagement, digital outreach and events. He holds a Hotel Management Diploma from the Institute of Hotel Management, Goa and an MBA degree from Sikkim Manipal University.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Bangalore University.

Mr S Sridhar, currently the director of Adept Skills Pvt Ltd, has twenty years of experience in the fields of skilling, vocational education business, education management, training & development, eLearning, animation and technology based education. He has donned roles such as CMO of Apollo MedSkills, and has worked on senior consulting positions of various corporate organizations and government agencies. He holds a PG Diploma in Public Relations from AP Open University.

Prof Navyashree B R is currently working in the Department of Civil Engineering for the past 3.5 years. She did her Diploma in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda Polytechnic, B.E in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology and M.Tech from The Oxford College of Engineering, Bengaluru with specialization in Structural Engineering. She owns lifetime membership of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE).

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Adnan Hussein is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from Manipal and PU from St.Alloysius PU College, Mangaluru. He is interested in travelling. He aspires to be an entrepreneur.
• Umarul Farooq is from Uppinangady. He pursued his high school from Arafa Vidya Kendra, Uppinangady and PUC from Jnanodaya Bethany PU College. He is interested in playing Kabaddi and cooking. He wants to be a good engineer and wants to serve in PWD.
• Mohammad Hamdan is from Udupi. He pursued his high school from Chaithanya Public School and PUC from Dr. NSAM PU College, Nitte. His hobbies are playing and watching Netflix. He has participated in many interschool games competitions. His aspiration is to become a good civil engineer.
• Abdul Mahshook is from Kaup. He pursued his high school from Al Ihsan English Medium School, Moolur and PUC from Dr. NSAM PU College, Nitte. He is interested in playing cricket. His aspiration is to build his own construction company and consultancy.
