Sahyarians Recruited by Manipal Technologies Mr. Vinay Rao, Mr. Pavan Bhaskara Poojari, Mr. Madan Kumar BS, Mr. N Avinash Nayak, Mr. Prashantha Narayana MN, Mr. Abhilash Shetty, Mr. Shreyus RV, Mr. Nikhith Rai from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mr. Akshay Kumar from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering have been recruited for the designation of Graduate Trainee Engineer by Manipal Technologies in the campus drive held on 12th Nov' 2019.

MBA Faculty invited as Resource Person for a Three-Day FDP on "HR Analytics-Data Driven Decision Making" at GM Institute of Technology, Davangere

MBA Faculty invited as Resource Person for a Three-Day FDP on Prof Girish M, Department of Business Administration was invited as resource person for a Three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "HR Analytics-Data Driven Decision Making" at GM Institute of Technology, Davangere during 11th to 13th Nov’19.
The other Resource Persons were Second Year MBA students, Mr. Brendan Banze, Ms. Suhasini Shankar Billava, Ms. Poojary Deeksha Raju and Mr. Chethan Kumar.
Chief Guest, Dr. T Manjunath, Chairman, Board of Studies, MBA, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgavi, inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address he spoke about the importance of understanding and using new aged technology driven tool for analysis of data and also about the future changes initiated in the VTU syllabus. Dr. B. Bakkappa Director, GMIT-MBA spoke about the importance on the need to change, and align to the requirements of the industry.
The sessions covered theoretical aspects of HR Analytics and hands on analysis of data using excel functions, formulae, pivot tables and charts. The participants also had hands-on experience on calculations and analysis of recruitment costing, attrition prediction, slicing of data. The program was attended by about 57 participants from different colleges in and around Davangere.
The concluding ceremony was held in the presence of the Dr. Y Vijaya Kumar, Principal, GMIT, and Dr. Bakkappa, Director, Department of Studies in Management, GMIT. They addressed the participants, speaking about the requirement of analytics in the industry today and about the need for students to be trained in the usage of the analytic tools.

Second Phase of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Survey carried out by Civil Engineering Students India aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and to upgrade the capabilities of both the public and the private sectors in responding to the development needs of rural India.
In this regard, the first phase of UBA survey of Badagabellur Village, Bantwal Taluk has been carried out. As a process, the second household survey was conducted by the Third Semester Civil Engineering students. During this survey students gathered information regarding problems faced by the villagers with issues relating to health & sanitation, educational facilities, water supply, food & nutrition, road networks and other basic amenities.
The students were accompanied by Prof. Sunil Kumar K, Prof. Deepthishree S Aithal, Prof. Pooja K, Prof. Nithesh M.G, Prof. Krutika and Ms. Anuradha, Lab Instructor.

Be With Engineering – A Prelude to Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) conducted at Sahyadri  Sahyadrians achieve in the 20th VTU Youth Fest ‘Insignia-2019’ held at SDM College of Engineering & Technology, Dharawada Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt - SSTH is an initiative of the young creative minds in line with 'Start-up India' mission. It is an eight-month program that involves workshops on Design Thinking to address various community based problems, for 10,000 students across 200 schools. The Sixth Edition of SSTH-2019 will be witnessed on 16th Nov’19 with a mission of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kanara region.
As a prelude to this Mega event, “Be with Engineering”, a Two-day Makers Event is conducted on 14th & 15th Nov’19. This provides a platform to bring together like-minded students passionate about science and technology. The main objective of this programme is to give students an overall view about what the true spirit of engineering really is. In the course of these two days, the participants will be accustomed to the environment of Sahyadri and will be given the opportunity to interact with entrepreneurs and widen their social network and work in the launch pads and labs. It is an initiative created out of the intention to make India’s youth change the generic definition of engineering altogether. There were 189 registrations from colleges situated in regions in and around Mangaluru and one team from Jammu.
Be With Engineering – A Prelude to Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) conducted at Sahyadri  Sahyadrians achieve in the 20th VTU Youth Fest ‘Insignia-2019’ held at SDM College of Engineering & Technology, Dharawada Day One started with the inauguration program wherein the students were addressed by Sahyadri stalwarts Mr. Johnson Tellis, TEC, Prof. Vaishak N L, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Sagar Devadiga, Dreamers, and Mrs. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean, Placements. They were a great source of motivation for the students. The event was thus kick-started with a positive vibe.
The activities involved, were held in various areas in the campus. The students were guided by their mentors throughout the program and given assistance in terms of technical aspects. They were briefed about the various initiatives of the college. They visited the launch-pads and also viewed the entrepreneurial setup that has been in action for the last couple of years. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal, interacted with the students speaking words of encouragement.
A Workshop was also conducted in the Aptitude lab on Electronics & App Development.

Prof. TVP Chowdry is currently associated with Centre for Sustainable Technology, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as Senior Project Scientist. He is in the process of implementing aural bio-energy led livelihoods project in a remote village sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He has 32 years of work experience both in industry and academics. He is an alumnus of Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT - Powai, Mumbai.

Prof. Suketha is currently working in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. She graduated from Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, with Computer Science & Engineering as specialization. She completed M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Mangaluru. She is having 3.5 years of teaching experience. Her area of interest is Data Mining. She has published various research articles in reputed journals. She is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Computer Society of India (CSI).

• Shrilakshmi K is from Kalladka. She completed her schooling from Balavikas English Medium School, Mani and PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. Her hobbies include painting and singing. She aspires to become a good developer in the software domain.
• Shresta P R is from Chikkamagaluru. She completed her schooling from Poorna Prajna, Chikkamagaluru and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include reading books and sports. She wishes to work in IBM.
• Chaithanya I is from Kadaba. She completed her schooling from Kairalee Nilayam Central School, Bengaluru and PUC from Shri Ramakunjeshwara PU College, Ramakunja. Her hobbies include sports, painting and art and craft. Her ambition is to work for Google.
• Neha M is from Kasaragod. She completed her schooling and PUC from Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include singing, skating and listening to music. She desires to join a reputed IT organization like Infosys and become a successful engineer.
• Sachin Sukesh Shetty is from Pune. He completed his schooling from Hume McHenry Memorial High School, and PUC from City International School, Pune. His hobbies include playing football and listening to music. His ambition is to play football at national level and be an ultimate coder.
• Priyanka R Kunte is from Mangaluru. She completed her schooling from Smt. Nirmala K Thakkar High School, Hubli and PUC from Mahesh PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include dancing, painting, cooking, sports, swimming and riding. She desires to become a software engineer in a reputed company.
