Chairman Attends ‘Defend the Flag’ (DTF) at Ritz - Carlton, Bengaluru  Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman attended a prestigious event ‘Defend the Flag’ (DTF) held at Ritz - Carlton, Bengaluru, organised by NCIIPC along with Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (ISAC), a Private-Public-Partner (PPP) of NCIIPC. He was accompanied by Dr. M. Srinath, COO and Mr. Raghupathi Siddoji, Aptra Technologies Pvt Ltd. This event was organised with a view to give exposure to the participants to sector-specific Cyber threats and help organisations to create capacity in cyber security domain and develop strategies to protect their Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) assets. Top government and industry experts like Mr Sanjeev Chawla, DDG, NCIIPC; Mr Jai Singla, Cloud Security Product Manager – TCL; Mr Karthik Varma, CEO – Cyberange; Mr. Rajshekhar P, Director – ISAC and Group Captain Naidu, Senior Advisor – ISAC and many others attended this event.

Impact of Social Media, Anti-Sexual Harassment & Crime Prevention  Impact of Social Media, Anti-Sexual Harassment & Crime Prevention Dr. Usha Mohan, Chief Counsellor at Bengaluru Association, a Non-Governmental Organization (BANGO) Trust, Bengaluru facilitated a session on “Impact of Social Media, Anti-Sexual Harassment & Crime Prevention” for the first year MBA students. She was accompanied by her spouse Mr. Mohan Kumar, Sr. Principal Engineer, ABB Dubai.

Dr. Usha is a Counsellor in Vanitha Sahayavani, Commissioner of Police Office, Bengaluru. She has worked as a Senior Traffic Warden, Bengaluru. She was also a Civil Defense Warden, Bengaluru. She was a Trainer for Police Training School Personnel’s, Bengaluru and also a Trainer & Counsellor for Factory Employees-Garment Industries, IT Companies & Schools.

While interacting with Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA, they shared how happy their son is at Sahyadri as he is not only living as an Engineer in the campus, but has also been given opportunity to pursue his passion for photography in the in-house Sahyadri Studio. They appreciated Sahyadri for contributing to the Happiness Index of the students.

Department of Mechanical Engineering Celebrated Children’s Day with orphanage students Department of Mechanical Engineering Celebrated Children’s Day with orphanage students As part of departmental outreach program, Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with FLAMES (Fulfilling Aspirations of Mechanical Engineering Students), celebrated Children’s Day with the orphanage students of St. Josephs Prashanth Nivas Anandhashram, Mangaluru on 14th Nov’19.

Students and staff members organised fun games, group activities to entertain the student group of 60 members of orphanage. Students from FLAMES collected funds as a part of fund raising program under the caption of “helping hands are better than praying lips”. Funds so collected, were effectively utilised for purchase of day-to-day usable groceries, soaps, tooth paste, consumables and stationery kits which were distributed to individual students. Financial assistance too was given.

Around 75 students and faculty from the Department of Mechanical Engineering members visited the orphanage and spent half a day with the children. The officials from the St. Josephs Prashanth Nivas Anandhasram appreciated the new initiative and efforts of the department for supporting the children.

Located in the serene environs of Jeppu in Mangaluru, St Joseph’s Prashanth Nivas Ashram is an embodiment of tranquillity. Prashanth Nivas is literally ‘an abode of peace’ for its residents. The Ashram looks after different categories of people including the elderly, differently-abled and children. And the credit of taking good care of the inmates, over 100 in number, goes to the dedicated nuns who belong to the Order of Sisters of Charity.

Be With Engineering – A Prelude to Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) conducted at Sahyadri   Be With Engineering – A Prelude to Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) conducted at Sahyadri Day One of ‘Be with Engineering’ was concluded with a cultural program. Mr. Sanketh U Kumar at the Djambe, Rahul Devadiga at the Guitar Mr. Rupesh Bangera at the Cajon and Mr. Abhishek MB, a national level flute performer, wowed everybody with their spectacular performance.

This event is held with the objective of strengthening the bond between the mentors and the participants. Once the performance was started, the air was abuzz with energy and soon, everybody loosened up and started interacting with each other. An Air show was conducted by Team Challengers. The planes, decked with LED lights, lit up the sky and added to the vibe of the night.

For a change of scene, the participants were taken back out to the ground for another Air Show conducted by Team Challengers. This was followed by a mini Workshop on Software Challenges by Mr. Aakash from SOSC.

Be With Engineering – A Prelude to Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) conducted at Sahyadri Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman facilitated a session on ‘Thinking Big and Setting your Goals High. He gave words of encouragement to the students and motivated them to follow certain principles that will drive them towards success for sure. He urged them to grab every opportunity and make the most of every chance that comes their way. He said it’s not about winning or losing, that’s not what matters.

The campus is busy with preparations for the judgement day with the setting up of the projects and things are taking place in a smooth motion. The students are accustomed to the ambience of Sahyadri and express a sense of wonderment towards the infrastructure of the college.

Campus Recruitment drive- Federal Bank

Campus Recruitment drive- Federal Bank  Federal Bank Limited conducted a recruitment drive on 14th Nov '19 for the MBA students of 2020 batch. The process began with a pre-placement talk followed by online assessment, group discussion, robotic interview, simulation & verification of documents. A total of 163 students including students from two neighboring colleges participated in the drive.

Ms. Prerana Sangam, Sahyadri student got selected for the post of Officer in Junior Mangement Grade 1 for branch banking role.

Prof. Suketha is currently working in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. She graduated from Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, with Computer Science & Engineering as specialization. She completed M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Mangaluru. She is having 3.5 years of teaching experience. Her area of interest is Data Mining. She has published various research articles in reputed journals. She is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Computer Society of India (CSI).

• Shrilakshmi K is from Kalladka. She completed her schooling from Balavikas English Medium School, Mani and PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. Her hobbies include painting and singing. She aspires to become a good developer in the software domain.
• Shresta P R is from Chikkamagaluru. She completed her schooling from Poorna Prajna, Chikkamagaluru and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include reading books and sports. She wishes to work in IBM.
• Chaithanya I is from Kadaba. She completed her schooling from Kairalee Nilayam Central School, Bengaluru and PUC from Shri Ramakunjeshwara PU College, Ramakunja. Her hobbies include sports, painting and art and craft. Her ambition is to work for Google.
• Neha M is from Kasaragod. She completed her schooling and PUC from Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include singing, skating and listening to music. She desires to join a reputed IT organization like Infosys and become a successful engineer.
• Sachin Sukesh Shetty is from Pune. He completed his schooling from Hume McHenry Memorial High School, and PUC from City International School, Pune. His hobbies include playing football and listening to music. His ambition is to play football at national level and be an ultimate coder.
• Priyanka R Kunte is from Mangaluru. She completed her schooling from Smt. Nirmala K Thakkar High School, Hubli and PUC from Mahesh PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include dancing, painting, cooking, sports, swimming and riding. She desires to become a software engineer in a reputed company.

SSTH 2019 - Start up Talks and Panel Discussions
The Sixth Edition of SSTH-2019 will be witnessed tomorrow, 16th Nov’19 with a mission of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kanara region.

Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt - SSTH is an initiative of the young creative minds in line with 'Start-up India' mission. It is an eight-month program that involves workshops on Design Thinking to address various community based problems, for 10,000 students across 200 schools.
