Chairman holds Interactive Sessions with Parents of New Entrants to the Engineering Stream

Interactive session for the parents of new entrants to the engineering stream was held in the campus in two batches. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman extended a warm welcome to the parents thanked them for choosing Sahyadri out of various options available.
Mr. Bhandary highlighted the statistics of employability skills discussed in the Parliament for Engineers, post their engineering program. He stressed on the word “Acceptance” which he expected from parents by encouraging their ward to take up challenges. He emphasized on how Sahyadri has been able to attract highest number of companies with excellent package.

He stated that in order to impart quality education in line with the AICTE model, various Industry-Academia partnerships and mandatory Internships are being initiated to improve employability. In Sahyadri this is already in practice he said, with initiatives such as training students to participate in NIT, IIT, Internship Programs and Outbound Program which has yielded good results.
Continuing his discourse, Mr. Bhandary gave a few words of advice to the parents:
• Never compare your child with other children;
• Befriend your child and share your problems; and
• Make them realise their responsibilities and the value of money.
While concluding Mr. Bhandary said that it is the culture of Sahyadri to nurture a student as a responsible citizen of the country. Dr. Rajesha S., Principal, in his address, highlighted about Mentor-Mentee System that is followed at Sahyadri. He advised the parents to be actively involved in the academic and co-curricular activities of their ward.

ASI-City Crime Branch (CCB), Mangaluru visited Sahyadri

sub-inspector-visit Mr. Harisha Padavinangady, Assistant Sub inspector of Police, City Crime Branch (CCB), Mangaluru visited Sahyadri. Mr. Harisha is a proud recipient of ‘Chief Minister’s Gold Medal’ which was awarded to him by Mr. Praveen Sood, IPS, Directorate General of Police, on behalf of Chief Minister at an event held at Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru.
Mr. Harisha was received with much cordiality by Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, who interacted with him and spoke about the achievements at Sahyadri.
Mr. Harisha has served for 29 long years in the Police Dept. Talking about his skills, he is very competitive, committed and a sincere officer. He possesses very good Public Relation Skills and has maintained cordial relations with citizens.
Mr. Harisha Padavinangady is associated with Sahyadri for quite some time and is a well-wisher of the Institute.

Director R&D Invited as Resource Person for ATAL FDP Program organized by BMSCE, Bengaluru

Manjappa Dr. S. Manjappa, Director (R&D) is invited as Resource Person for AICTE sponsored, Five Days All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE-ATAL Scheme) sponsored Faculty Development Program (FDP) under ‘Technology Innovation: Wealth from Waste’ online from 23–27 Nov’2020.
The FDP is organized by the Dept. of Chemical Engineering, BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bengaluru.
On Day 2 of the FDP i.e. 24 Nov’2020, Dr. S. Manjappa delivered an Expert Lecture titled "Wealth from Waste of Sugar Industry Complex for its Economic and Environmental Sustainability".

ECE Students attend Two Days Webinar on Career Guidance

career-guidance Students of Second and Third year Electronics & Communication Engineering, attended a Two Days Webinar on Career Guidance. Ms. Savita, Career Service Associate-Edureka took up the session.
Following topics were covered during the session:
• How to cope up with Study from home culture and get the best out of it;
• The kind of skills Industry looks for in a candidate;
• Importance of Internship during the academic years;
• Tips on Interview Preparation;
• Importance of LinkedIn in landing the right job;
• Networking; and
• Trending Jobs of 2020.
The Webinar endeavoured to motivate and reach out to the students, enhance their professional knowledge and above all prepare them for future challenges.
About the Resource Person:
Ms. Savita started as an Admission Counsellor and got promoted to the Career Services wing. She is currently the Project Lead at Edureka, heading the dept. of Internship and Live projects for learners. She is also a freelancing Career Counsellor and a Career/Academic Content Writer as well.

The Resource Person for the Webinar was Mr. Vasudevan B., Software Engineer-RSA, Bengaluru who spoke in detail about software development.
