ನವೆಂಬರ್ 01, 2020 ರಂದು ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮ್ಯಾನೆಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡಾಂಬೆಯ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಪುಷ್ಪಾರ್ಚನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಮಾಹಿತಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿಯಾದ Prof. ಜಯಪದ್ಮಿನಿ ನಾಡಾಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ Prof. ರಾಜೇಶ ಎಸ್. ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಬ್ದಸಂಪತ್ತು ನಿಘಂಟಿಗಷ್ಟೇ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಖೇದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ನುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಮನೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಉಳಿಸುವ, ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ಶಬ್ದಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿರಿಯರು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಬೇಕು, ಎಂದರು. ತಾಯಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗಿನ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅನೂಹ್ಯವಾದುದೋ, ಅಂತಹ ಭಾವನೆ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಮಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ, ನಾನಾ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಅವಗಣನೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಉಸಿರಾಗಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ; ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೆಂದು ನಾವು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಪಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ, ಇಡಿಯ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡಿನ ಬಾವುಟದ ಬಗೆಗೂ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಬ್ಯುಸಿನೆಸ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೆಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ Prof. ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ, ಪ್ರಾಂತೀಯವಾಗಿ ವಿಘಟಿತಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಷಾವಾರು ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ರಚನೆಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಡೆದ ಚಳುವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರಣೀಭೂತರಾದ ಚಳುವಳಿಕಾರರನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದರು. ನವೆಂಬರ್ 01, 1956 ರಲ್ಲಿ ರಚನೆಯಾದ ಮೈಸೂರು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮತ್ತೆ 1973 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಾಗಿ ಪುನರ್ ನಾಮಕರಣಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಶಬ್ದದ ಪದ ನಿಷ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹಳದಿ-ಕೆಂಪು ಬಣ್ಣಗಳ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟದ ಕನ್ನಾಡಂಬೆಯ ಧ್ವಜದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಿಗಷ್ಟೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗದಿರಲಿ ಎಂಬ ಆಶಯವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಕಲಾ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀ ನವಿನ್ ಪಿಲಾರ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮ್ಯಾನೆಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರು, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಆಡಳಿತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ, ಭೋದಕ ಮತ್ತು ಭೋದಕೇತರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದರು.

Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrated at Sahyadri with Fervour

By showering flower petals on the photo of The Karnataka Maathe, Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated at Sahyadri with utmost fervour and dedication. The celebration started with the singing of State Anthem by Prof. Jayapadmini, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering.
Prof. Rajesha S., Pricipal presided over the programme.
In his Presidential speech, Prof. Rajesha ruefully expressed about the lack of knowledge of Kannada vocabulary among today’s generation.
He pointed out that any amount of unique words of Kannada can be found only in dictionaries. Keep them alive, he urged the audience.
Prof. Rajesha further stated that it is the moral responsibility of the elders to teach the younger generation by familiarising them with the new Kannada vocabulary and improvising it.
Prof. Rajesha illustrated by giving the example of Mother-Child relationship and how it is inexpressible. In the same way, he continued to say, one should have the attachment with Kannada, our state language. Only by developing such attachment, Kannada language which is sadly undervalued by today’s generation, can be brought to the foreground. He concluded by saying this way we can feel Kannada in our breath and pride ourselves over being Kannadigas.
In her Preamble speech Prof. Akshaya Shetty, Dept. of MBA, spoke about the historical movement for Karnataka integration. On 1 November 1956 the Kannada speaking people were combined and Mysore state was made, which after two decades on 1 November 1976, was renamed as Karnataka state. She explained the significance of the state flag and concluded her speech by saying “Let the love for Kannada be not limited only to the month of November.”
All Dept. Heads, teaching & non-teaching faculties were present for the programme.

Training and Placement - Infosys Interview Phase 1

infosys Infosys conducted the Interview Process (Phase 1) for the Engineering students from the 2021 outgoing Batch, mainly for those who have qualified the first round of Online Assessment of Infosys Campus Recruitment Program 2020-21.
The Interview round was conducted virtually and was proposed to assess students’ technical and behavioral skills. The interview process for students shortlisted in Phase 1 would be followed by students listed in Phase 2.
Interview results for qualified candidates are awaited.

Faculty Members of ECE attend Six Days AICTE Sponsored STTP

STTP Faculty members of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Prof. Roopashree, Prof. Pavanalaxmi, Prof. Sumiksha Shetty, attended AICTE sponsored Six Days Online Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Machine Learning & Deep Learning Models for Medical Domain Applications”.
The STTP focused mainly on the following key points:
• Introduction to Data Analytics and Machine Learning
• Introduction to Medical imaging & EMR integration, Case Study on Radiology images
• Basics of Deep Learning and its Applications in Cell Image Classification
• Introduction to Neural Network
• Evolution of Neural networks and their applications
• Deep Learning in Medical Science and Technology using Morphological Techniques
The STTP was organized by the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, during 19 to 24 Oct’2020.

Bridge Course 2020 for the Third Batch of Engineering Aspirants commences at Sahyadri

The third batch of Bridge Course 2020 for freshers conducted by Technical Career Education (TCE) has started its journey on 2 Nov’2020 and will go on till 12 Nov'2020.
Day-One had a kick start with strength of 41 attendees participating in various activities with a hope to explore and build better understanding with the institution. Mr. Johnson Tellis welcomed the students and the session found its start with an ice-breaking activity.
Mr Johnson took the students through their journey to date and spoke about the outcomes that can be expected from engineering. The students took part in fun and fast-paced activities to energize themselves while following the Social Distancing protocol.
The afternoon sessions were engaged by Ms. Hithaishy B., which mainly focused on formation of teams among the students and indulged them in building better bonding with their teammates through various activities.
