Session for IoT Future Skill Vertical

Session for IoT Future Skill Vertical alkSession for IoT Future Skill Vertical Presentation of IoT (Internet of Things) Future Skill Initiative was organized on 19th Oct’19 at the Corporate Office of RDL Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Design Engineer - RDL Technologies Pvt. Ltd., was the resource person. He handled the session on Back Scattering Technology, commonly known as Radio-frequency Identification (RFID).

Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) finds prominent place in IoT Solutions due to the simplicity and wide application. The working was briefly explained along with use case converting retail, transportation, mining industries. The team was encouraged to come up with use cases for in-college applications like Food Court, Attendance and Library.

The presentation concluded with a couple of challenges using RFID like reliability, speed and performance. More than 30 people benefited from this programme as a part of Sahyadri - IoT Future Skill Vertical.

Maker Camp DIY Eco-friendly Diwali Lamps

Maker Camp DIY Eco-friendly Diwali Lamps kMaker Camp DIY Eco-friendly Diwali Lamps Maker Camp – an Awareness Programme, was conducted on 20th Oct’19 with the intent to reduce the use of plastic lamps during Diwali. Eco-friendly Diwali lamps were made during this camp, using recycled coconut shells and bamboo. Students along with their families participated in this camp and made their own lamps as takeaways for their homes.

The Maker-Camp was organized by DreamWorks Makerspace Sahyadri in collaboration with DTlabz R&D Pvt. Ltd. It is an initiative of the Institution's Innovation Council (Ministry of Human Resource Development).

Interaction session - SilverPeak Global, (SPG) Japan

Interaction session - SilverPeak Global, (SPG) Japan SilverPeak Global, (SPG) visited Sahyadri on 21st Oct'19 and interacted with selected students and their parents about careers in Japan for Indian engineers. The session provided a clear understanding regarding the programme, the Japanese culture, internship and job opportunities that would be offered to the students. The interaction concluded with a Q&A session wherein all the parents clarified their doubts and concerns.

Campus Recruitment Drive- Juspay

Campus Recruitment Drive- Juspay As a part of the recruitment drive, Juspay conducted an Online Assessment on 21st Oct’19, for all branches of engineering students from 2019-2020 outgoing batch. Students having a keen interest in coding participated in the assessment. A total of 98 students took up the test and the results are yet to be declared.

Juspay's vision is to enable the billion people in India with secure 1-click payments on mobile. Online payment is a BIG infrastructure problem with high demands on scale, security and reliability, the capability to power India’s entire internet commerce traffic is what they are building. They process over 2M transactions a day, through their presence in top Apps like Flipkart, Amazon, BookMyShow, RedBus, MakeMyTrip, Myntra, Swiggy, Airtel, Vodafone, Yatra, etc. Having crossed more than a billion transactions in the last year, with more than 125M SDK installs, they are growing at the rate of all apps put together!

Introduction of the Mentor:

Mrs. Akhila Thejaswi R is an Assistant Professor of Information Science & Engineering Department. She has pursued B.E from KVGCE, Sullia, and M.Tech from NMAMIT, Nitte. She has a total of 10 years of teaching experience. Her research area includes data security, networking, wireless networks, etc. She has published various research articles in reputed journals.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Adish Yermal is from Mangalore. He completed his 10th std from St. Aloysius High School, Kodialbail, Mangaluru and PUC from Expert PU College, Kodialbail, Mangaluru. His hobbies are photography, drawing and listening to music. He likes exploring new things in computers and likes programming. He aspires to become an IT professional.
• Madhur S Rai is from Mangaluru. He completed his 10th std from Sharada Vidyalaya, Kodialbail and PUC from Sharada PU College, Kodialbail, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing cricket, riding and listening to music. He was the president of the Student council of Sharada PU College for the year 2018-19. He has participated in ‘AARUSH-19’ which was a technical fest in Tamil Nadu. He likes exploring new things in computers and aspires to become an entrepreneur along with excelling in the IT field and wishes to continue playing cricket in future days.
• Parikshith S Shetty is from Kundapur. He studied 10th at St. Thomas Higher Primary School, Byndoor and PUC from Excellent PU College Sunnari, Kundapur. His hobbies include reading books, playing handball, watching tv and listening to music. He participated in the AICS handball tournament and won prizes. He is interested to learn networking. And he aspires to be a successful IT engineer.
• Prathik Shetty is from Bondel, Mangaluru. He studied 10th at BGS Education Centre, Kavoor and PUC from BGS Composite PU College, Kavoor, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing football, listening to music and playing video games. He aspires to be a successful entrepreneur and wants to travel the whole world.
• Rajath P Shetty is from Udupi. He studied 10th at S.M.S. English Medium School, Bharmavar and PUC from Viveka PU College, Kota. His hobbies include painting, drawing, playing volleyball, table tennis etc. He has participated in "TECHSPARDHA" and won 2nd prize in robo soccer held at NIT, Kurushetra. He is keen to explore new technologies and interested to learn networking. He aspires to be excel in the field of data analytics.
• Swasthika Rai K is from Mangaluru. She studied 10th at Vishwamangala School, Mangaluru and PUC from St Aloyious PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobby dancing and is interested in sports. She has participated in Tulu Nadu Abbaka dance program held at Delhi She aspires to be a successful IT engineer.
• Vishnu N V is from Kochi. He studied 10th and PUC from Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Naval Base, Kochi. His hobbies include playing football, gaming and listening to music. He has participated in “Hacktober Fest 2019” and won Best Freshers Project held at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. He also got various prizes in Sports and Cultural events. He is keen to explore new technologies and interested to learn networking. His aspiration is to excel in the field of cybersecurity.

Tomorrow at Sahyadri

Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) is inaugurating Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering Students (AEnCES) at 9:30 a.m. at Netravati Auditorium. The theme of the event is REDCARPET.
