A Talk on ‘Best Opportunity to Learn Data Science’ by the Mentor of International School of Engineering (INSOFE)

A talk on Data Science was organized by the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) under the banner of Sahyadri- Institution Innovation Council (IIC) for the students of third and fifth semester. Dr. Venkatesh Sunkad, Mentor, International School of Engineering (INSOFE), educated the students about ‘Best Opportunity to Learn Data Science’ (BOLD) Programme.

Dr. Sunkad explained the importance of various levels of the BOLD Programme and its exposure. His talk inspired the students to analyze the real-world Data Science problems and make them industry competent. He also disseminated how Data Science will rule the world in the coming days.

INSOFE is Asia’s largest Data Science School. It conducts Boot Camps for Entrepreneurship, R&D Exposure, and Product Exposure. The programme was organized in association with Xcelerator, a collaborative learning community - connecting students, academia, and industry by bridging the gap between academic output and industry expectations. Mr. Dipraj Mukherjee, Manager and Mr. Santosh Kumar, Academic Advisor, from Xcelerator also interacted with the students.

Sahyadri Athletic team wins Second Place in March Past at the VTU 22nd Inter-collegiate Athletic Competition

Sahyadri Athletic team wins second place in March Past, at the VTU 22nd Inter-collegiate Athletic Competition held at GNDCE, Bidar during 22nd to 25th Oct’19. Athletes from 140 colleges totaling to around 1,650 participated in this competition.

Student of Computer Science & Engineering gets Elite Certified by NPTEL

Mr. Vrashank Rao M., a student of Computer Science & Engineering has been certified Elite + Silver by NPTEL for successfully completing the course on Introduction to Programming in C, an 8-week course during Jul-Sep 2019.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Dr. Mahesh B Davanageri is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his B.E degree from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan and M.E degree in Design Engineering from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He obtained Ph.D in the area of Materials and Tribology, from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal. He has 25 years of teaching experience and he is with Sahyadri since the last 10 years. He has published 15 articles in referred journals. His research interests are Material characterization, Wear and Finite Element Simulation.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Nihal S. Kumar is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from Yenepoya English Medium High School Jeppinamogaru, and studied PUC at St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. He has participated in various taluk and district level football matches. His hobbies are travelling, sports and photography. His aim is to get placed in a core mechanical company like JSW Thermax.
• Aquib is from Kundapura. He pursued his high school from Stella Maris English Medium School and studied PUC at SV PU College. His hobbies are playing cricket, and photography. His aim is to join merchant navy.
• Hitesh is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from Holy Family English Medium School and PUC at Govinda Dasa Pre University College. He is good at studies. He is interested in boxing and wrestling. His aim is to get placed in core mechanical company or merchant navy.
• Shivaprasad is from Karkala. He pursued his high school and PUC at Milagres College. He is good at studies. His hobbies are reading books, travelling, playing indoor games and listening to music. His aim is to get placed in Mechanical based software like Ansys, Quest or core mechanical company.
