Workshop on ‘Cyber Safe Campus’

Center of Excellence Cyber Security and Institute's Innovation Council - Sahyadri in association with ACM-Sahyadri organized a workshop on Cyber Safe Campus on 26th Oct’19, for the first year engineering students.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering. He is a Guest Faculty of Cyber Security at Karnataka Judicial Academy and Police Academy. Mrs. Shreelatha, Academic Administrative Officer (AAO) and Dr. Anush Bekal, Vice-President IIC-Sahyadri, graced the event.

Dr. Prabhu is a very dynamic personality and also a motivational speaker. In his talk, he gave insight into some very common mistakes everyone does on the internet, the problems caused by attackers while accessing the internet and how the Trojan Virus is injected through the pictures. He also suggested ways on how to be free from cyber attacks. He also spoke about some of the tools of artificial intelligence which are being misused by the attackers to cheat people. The students found the talk very inspiring and interesting. On the whole, the workshop was well received and the students gained great insights.

Caliper ships its first export order to Europe

Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Ltd, an in-house start-up Company in Sahaydri, shipped its first export order to Europe.

In response to the order placed by Maverick Valves for their requirements of valve components, the order was shipped to them by Caliper. The valve components are produced by Caliper, maintaining strict quality standards.

Maverick Valves is a dynamic global trading company and supplier in the Valve industry based in the Netherlands. Within a short period of four weeks, the first export order was shipped. Impressed with the swift action and good performance, Maverick Valves has placed further orders for various valve components. The same are now under production at Caliper.

Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri

Introduction of the Mentor:
Dr. Pushpalatha K. is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. She is the Chief Editor of Sahyadri International Journal of Research. She has a PhD degree in Multimedia Mining from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. She is working in Sahyadri for the last one decade. Her research interests are machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, computer vision and database. She has published various research articles in SCI indexed journals and reputed International conferences.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Prakyath H.N. is from Madikeri. He pursued his high school from General Thimmayya Public School and PUC from St. Michaels PU College, Madikeri. His hobbies are trekking, listening to music and playing basketball. He is interested in aeromodelling and coding. His aspiration is to become a successful entrepreneur.
• M. Shraddha Rao is from Mulki. She pursued her high school from M.C.T. Public School, Mulki and completed PUC in Alva's PU College, Moodbidri. Her hobbies are photography, reading books and watching movies, etc. Her dream is to start her own smart phone brand and contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
• Muhammad Thouseef is from Bantwal. He pursued his high school from Wisdom School, Budoli and did his PUC from Carmel PU collage, Modankap. His hobbies are playing cricket, volleyball, sudoku and chess. His aspiration is to become a software engineer.
• Drisya P.V. is from Kerala. She pursued her high school and PUC from at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Kerala. Her hobbies are dancing and playing basketball. She has won prizes in dance and also in basketball at both school and cluster level. Her ambition is to work for a reputed MNC.
• Apeksha Salian is from Mngaluru. She pursued her high school from Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School and PUC from St. Aloysius Pre University College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are acting, craft and music. She was awarded the Best Eastern Music Minister during high school days. Her ambition is to work for a reputed MNC.
• Gautham V. Ghetia is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from St. Aloysius English Medium School, Mangaluru and PUC from Sri Chaitanya PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are sporting and photography. He aspires to work for a good software company.
• Deekshith Shetty is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from MGC High School and PUC from MGC Composite PU College, Mangaluru. He aspires to work in an MNC company as software engineer.
