Emurgo organizes sessions on “Basics of BlockChain”

Basics of BlockChain A 2-day session on “Basics of BlockChain” was organized under the banner of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC).

The resource persons from “Team Emurgo” consisting of Mr. Bharath Mallapur, Vice President-Technology, Emurgo India; Mr. Vijay Balaji, Vice President, Emurgo India, and Mr. Rahul Oberoi, Manager- Strategic Alliances, Emurgo India; facilitated the two-day sessions.

Emurgo Academy is a Global Blockchain Learning Solutions entity that focuses on incubation, training and evangelizing.

The main purpose of the workshop was to evangelize the college students on Blockchain Technology and give them a brief of what EMURGO Academy has to offer to students with this perspective.

The following key points were covered during the sessions:
• What is Blockchain
• Technologies involved in Blockchain i.e Ethereum, Hyperledger and Cardano.
• Applications of Blockchain
• Industry implications
• Real-time used cases
• EMURGO Academy offerings to students
Various features of BlockChain Technology and its impact on the emerging economy were presented. The academic involvement in developing the BlockChain skills in the minds of students was highlighted 2nd & 3rd Year Engineering students from Electronics & Communication, Computer Science and Information Science branches and MBA students benefitted a lot from this workshop.

Sahyadrians Recruited by Mphasis

Sahyadrians Recruited by Mphasis A total of 26 Sahyadrians were recruited by Mphasis, in the campus recruitment drive held on 11th Oct’19.

Eight students from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, twelve from the Department of Information Science & Engineering and, from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, six students were hired for the position of Trainee Associate Software Engineer.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Jaro Education

Campus Recruitment Drive - Jaro Education Jaro Education conducted a pool campus recruitment drive for the 2020 batch, for BE all Branches and MBA students. Ms. Sakshi Pant, Manager – Campus Relations was at the campus to facilitate the process. Over 1,000 students from various colleges in D.K. and Udupi districts participated in the drive and the results are awaited.


Lakshmi Pooja held during Diwali in the Campus

Lakshmi Pooja held during Diwali in the Campus It is the tradition to worship Goddess Lakshmi for health and prosperity on the second day of Deepavali every year in Sahyadri. This year too, Lakshmi Pooja was held in the campus on 28th Oct’19. The teaching and non-teaching staff members and the students were present on the occasion.



Engineering students attend Workshop at NITK, Suratkal

Engineering students attend Workshop at NITK, Suratkal A total of 23 students participated in GO programming Workshop at NITK, Suratkal organized by "ACM-NITK" on 26th October. The resource person was Jyotsna Gupta, A software developer at Coffeebeans Consulting LPP, Bengaluru. At Coffeebeans Consulting, they are committed to provide consulting services and help create great businesses with cutting edge technology.

The session consisted of learning syntax of GO. GO or GoLang, is an open source programming language designed for building simple, fast and reliable software said Ms. Gupta. It is far better than other programming languages. Today's hardware needs a programming language that can support concurrency better, and that can scale up performance with the increase of added cores over time. This is where GO comes in as the most viable option, Ms. Gupta said.

The Workshop was concluded by teaching students how to build secure server using GO and career fields related to it. Ms. Gupta interacted with the students, answering all their queries and the students in turn built a good connectivity with her.

Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri Department: Information Science & Engineering
Introduction of the Mentor:

Mr. Rithesh Pakkala P. is currently working as a Coordinator - Examinations and Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He obtained his B.E and M. Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. under VTU in the area of Data Analytics and Theory of Computation. He has 5 years of teaching experience.

Mr. Pakkala has also worked as a Software Engineer for Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), CET Help-Line Centre, Mangaluru in 2013. His interested subjects include Formal Languages & Automata Theory, System Modeling & Simulation, Operations Research Discrete and Mathematical Structures.

Introduction of Mentees:
• A.M. Akhilesh is from Kalladka. He completed his 10th standard from SLNP Vidyalaya, Panemangaluru, and PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. His hobby is making background music using FL Studio. He aspires to get placed in Xiaomi.
• Melroy is from Mangaluru. He completed his 10th standard from St.Thomas High School Alangar, and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobby is playing football. He wants to become a good software developer.
• Mohammed Rashiq is from Kundapura. He completed his 10th standard from VKR High School and PUC from RNS PU College, Kundapura. He is more interested in gaming and wants to become good game developer.
• Sahil is from Mangaluru. He completed his 10th standard from SharadhaVidyanikethana Public School and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. His hobby is playing cricket. He wants to become a good software developer.
• Shobith is from Mangaluru. He completed his 10th standard from Milagres High School and PUC from Canara PU College, Mangaluru. His hobby is photography. He wants to become a filmmaker and work in the film industry.
• Shreya is from Mangaluru. She completed her 10th standard in St. Agnes Girls High School and PUC in St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. She loves to do designs. She wants to work in Microsoft.
• Sweedle is from Bantwal. She completed her 10th standard in Holy Saviour School, Bantwal and PUC in Carmel PU College, Modankapu. Her hobby is singing. She wants to work in Infosys.
