Day Four of Induction Programme MBA 2017-2019

Day-Four-of-Induction-Programme-MBA-2017-2019 In today’s fast paced and dynamic environment each company is striving to achieve competitive advantage over the others. Management Practitioners and researchers unequivocally believe companies need to be innovative in order to achieve this goal. However, innovation comes with its own challenges such as resistance to change and ambiguity, to name a few. Therefore, a strong and supportive leadership is crucial for innovation in any organization.

Day-Four-of-Induction-Programme-MBA-2017-2019 In an endeavour to create business leaders of tomorrow, we believe MBA students need to develop skills of creative problem solving and business leadership. The 2017 Batch of MBA students took the very first step towards achieving this goal on 25th Sept 2017 during their induction program. A team of faculty and research scholars from TAPMI conducted a one day workshop on creativity and leadership for the inducting batch of 2017. In the first half of the workshop the students participated in different activities like dance, yoga and case studies to shed their inhibition and think freely. During this time the students learnt about various techniques of creative problem solving, in particular, mind mapping and morphological analysis. The session was handled by Prof Abilash Ramani and research scholar Ashish B. The session was interactive and task driven. The students were asked to develop a mind map in groups of 4 to 5 on a general topic like Tourism. They were given chart papers and colours to make their maps as appealing as possible. Similarly, they were also taught the technique of morphological analysis. Post lunch session on leadership was handled by Prof P.S James, HR-area chair TAPMI. During the session the students learnt about their own personality traits and emotional intelligence through different psychometric tests. The faculty then explained how different personality traits affect ability to be creative and leadership style. He also discussed how individual students could improve their personality and emotional intelligence and align it with business leadership.

Student Counselor takes part in “The Purple Run”

Student-Counselor-takes-part-in-“The-Purple-Run” Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counselor took part in the "The Purple Run", a marathon for the cause of Alzheimer's organized by Forum Group and NIMHANS in commemoration of Word Alzheimer's Day. The marathon was organized as a fund raising effort to help the Doctors of NIMHANS to study Alzheimer and find a cure.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), also referred to simply as Alzheimer's, is a chronic neuro-degenerative disease that usually starts slowly and worsens over time. It is the cause of 60% to 70% of cases of dementia. The most common early symptom is difficulty in remembering recent events (short-term memory loss). As the disease advances, symptoms can include problems with language, disorientation (including easily getting lost), mood swings, loss of motivation, not managing self care, and behavioural issues. As a person's condition declines, they often withdraw from family and society. Gradually, bodily functions are lost, ultimately leading to death. Although the speed of progression can vary, the average life expectancy following diagnosis is three to nine years only.
