Mr. Rithvik Alevooraya K V, first year Engineering student secures 2 Gold medals for India in sub-junior category of Commonwealth Power Lifting competition in Canada. He has won Gold Medal in the Sub-junior category of Classic Bench-press and in Equipped Bench Press.

Butterfly VTU state level swimming competition. The competition was organized by MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology on 18th September, 2019.

Expert with Global Experience visits Sahyadri to encourage Entrepreneurial activity in the campusExpert with Global Experience visits Sahyadri to encourage Entrepreneurial activity in the campus Mr. Nagaraja Prakasam who is a versatile and passionate leader with 27 years of global experience (decade in the USA and a decade in India), lead angel investor, lead 15 deals, invested in 22 start-ups, server\s 13 boards, seen 6 exits 2 write offs, visited the campus on 19th Sep’19.

Morning session was a meet up of local Entrepreneurs Isaac Vas (incoming president of KCCI), Divakar Pai (incoming secretary KCCI), Vathika Pai (Vathika Enterprises), Lionel Arhana (CA) and Dr. Molly Chaudhuri (MSNM Besant Institute), Dr. Vishal Samartha (Director-MBA) along with the Start-up heads of Sahyadri to initiate an Entrepreneurship development forum in Mangaluru region.

During the afternoon session Mr. Nagaraja interacted with the aspiring students on the topic of Entrepreneurship for local development with the advice that as long as the problem statement is valid and the solution original, never give up.

FLAMES - Mechanical Engineering Student Association Inaugurated FLAMES - Mechanical Engineering Student Association Inaugurated FLAMES (Fulfilling Aspirations of Mechanical Engineering Students) a student association of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the academic year 2019-20 was inaugurated by the Alumni Guest Mr. Varshith K.N, currently working for Anglo Eastern Ship Management. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Varshith K.N stressed on the importance of basic knowledge about various technical subjects to enhance the academic performance. He also gave overview on preparation to be done in order to get better offers from various Mechanical industries. Further, he gave brief exposure about the role of mechanical engineer in the marine industries, importance of the discipline, necessary skills involved in technical and time management. Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal spoke encouragingly on the endeavours of the department and wished the association a successful year ahead. He also expressed his whole-hearted support towards the working of the association. Prof. Ravichandra K.R., President of FLAMES and Head of the Department gave introductory remarks. Mr. Sunder, CEO, Caliper Engineering and Lab Pvt Ltd also graced the function.

Sharma, Professor, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, IIT Roorkee had an interactive session with the students of Mechanical Engineering on 16th Sep’19. He spoke on the importance of academic and extracurricular activities for the self-growth of students. In his talk, Prof. Sharma motivated the students by giving the examples of legendary scientists, entrepreneurs, social activists and many more. He encouraged the students to actively participate in various placements related activities with positive thoughts.

One-Day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Analytics for Teachers’ organized by MBA DepartmentOne-Day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Analytics for Teachers’ organized by MBA Department Dept. of Business Administration-MBA conducted a One-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for Undergraduate teachers on 19th of September 2019. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest – Dr. Umappa Poojary, Former President of ‘AMUCT’ and Associate Professor at Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College, Mangaluru. Key note address was delivered by Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA. She gave a brief highlight about Sahyadri to the participants. In the inaugural address, Dr. Umappa Poojary, spoke about the importance of Data Analytics in the current scenario and how important it is for the teachers to upgrade their competencies. He stated that ‘Data speaks louder than words’. He also mentioned that if we are not updated to data analytics, Alexa, Siri, Google would definitely replace us. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal delivered the Presidential Remarks.

Dr. Azhar Shaheen Shaikh kick started the session on ‘Data and Analytics’ which was hands-on session in the Computer Lab primarily on SPSS software.

The afternoon session was taken by Prof. Girish M on ‘Cutting Edge – Marketing Analytics’ which was again a hands-on session on MS Excel. Prof. Sushma V facilitated the last session of the day on ‘HR Analytics - No Rocket Science’. She spoke about HR Analytics from the company perspective and shared Case Studies and various tools used in HR Analytics. The objective of the session was to make the participants comfortable with the subject.

One-Day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Analytics for Teachers’ organized by MBA Department The programme had 67 participants from 29 undergraduate colleges of Dakshin Kannada and Udupi districts. The programme received an overwhelming response from the faculty members of Undergraduate colleges.

IT Expert visits Sahyadri for Experience Sharing Ms. Sushma Akkaraju visited the College on 19th September 2019 and had an interaction with Dr. Nalini E Rebello, Head of the Civil Department. Ms. Sushma has a vast work experience of 22 years and has worked in top tier IT Organizations IBM, TCS, Mahindra Satyam and Rolta India Ltd. She has a strong Career reflecting Leadership Qualities and Hands-on experience in Delivery program, Project Management, Service delivery, Client Relationship and Resource Management. Ms. Sushma although graduated in Civil Engineering field in 1995 drifted in to the Software Industry and worked extensively in top IT firms. Her very dynamic and versatile nature will surely be an asset to the Department.

One-Day Leadership Development Programme (LDP) for UG Student Council Members
MBA Department is organizing a One-Day Leadership Development Programme on 20th Sep’19. A total of 248 UG Student Council Members from 29 colleges of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu Districts have registered for the programme.

Dr. K V Malini, Principal of Canara College would be the Chief Guest and Mr. Pruthvi V Ambar, Sandalwood & Coastalwood Actor would be the Guest of Honour for the Inaugural Ceremony.

The programme is facilitated by the in-house faculty – Dr. Vishal Samartha, Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty, Prof. Ramesh K G and Prof. Samarth Shenoy. Participants will also visit the companies inside the Sahyadri Campus and interact with the Industry heads.



AEROPHILIA- 2019
Team Challengers in association with ISRO, Flotanomers, DSI and DT Labs is going to conduct a National level Aeromodelling Competition, AEROPHILIA-2019 during September 20th to 22nd’19. Aerophilia is a two-day Aeromodelling event with more than 15 events conducted by Team Challengers.
