Aerophilia 2019

Aerophilia 2019  Aerophilia 2019, a two- day National Level Aeromodelling Competition took off today, 20th Sep’19 in the campus. The event has its primary goal to implant ideas of aeromodelling and aerospace in young minds and to encourage young talents to explore more. Aerophilia consists of 20 different events with exciting cash prizes. About 1,000 students from various schools and colleges across India including IITs and NITs have participated in the programme. The main attraction of the event this year is the Hackathon conducted by ISRO exclusively at Aerophilia on the Navic chip.

Aerophilia 2019 Aerophilia 2019 The Chief Guest of the event Cdr T R A Narayanan of Indian Navy, who is also a prime member of Aeromodelling Association of India, appreciated the enthusiasm of the students in organizing and participating in the event. He was impressed by the paper plane competition and said, “Paper planes are not just for kids. The aerodynamics that goes into the simple planes is also high level of aerodynamics”.

Mr. Maneesh Saxena and Mr. Akhileshwar Reddy, Deputy Directors of Industry Interface under Satnav program by ISRO were also present during the occasion. Mr. Ashwin L Shetty who was the Composite Manager at Airbus Helicopters in China also spoke on the occasion.

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman while addressing the gathering said - “The intention of this event is to ignite the minds of young Engineers and to create awareness on the advancing technologies in the field of Aerospace”.

The event was called open by the Guests by giving a throttle and a RC plane flying high in the air with the Aerophilia banner.

Aerophilia 2019 This was followed by the Air Shows by Mr. Abhay Pawar and Mr. Ragavendra B S, who are both professional RC flyers. The schedule for Day One of Aerophilia had technical events like Aeromodelling, Drone Race, Water Rocket and Tug of Bots and also the Hackathon conducted by ISRO Scientists. Fun events like Treasure Hunt, Rubik’s cube and CS GO were also held.

The day concluded with cultural programme which included a concert by Team Martians and a Stand-up comedy by Mr. Mandar Bhide from Bingo Comedy Adda.

MBA Dept organized a One-Day Leadership Development Programme for UG Student Council Members A One-Day Leadership Development Programme (LDP) was organized by the MBA Department for the undergraduate Student Council Members on 20th Sep’19. A total of 221 students from 22 colleges of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu District participated in the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest – Dr. K V Malini, Principal of Canara College, Mangaluru and Guest of Honour – Mr. Pruthvi Ambar, Sandalwood & Coastalwood Actor. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA in her speech, welcomed the gathering and introduced Sahyadri to the participants. Prof. Sushma V, Chief-Coordinator of the programme spoke about the four-year journey of LDP at Sahyadri and how we have scaled higher in terms of number of participants as well as quality of the programme. Dr. K V Malini, in her inaugural address shared her perspective of being a leader and appreciated Sahyadri for organizing such a thoughtful event for outside students. Mr. Pruthvi Ambar spoke about his journey of being a follower and his efforts to be a Leader. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal shared the Presidential address and in his speech he motivated students to note down the key takeaways of the sessions and practice in their role as a Student Council Member in their respective colleges.

The second session was by Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty on “Corporate Expectation from Budding Leaders”. Third session was conducted by Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning on “Leaders are not born, but made” and the last session was by Prof. Samarth Shenoy on “Lead, Follow or Perish”.

MBA Dept organized a One-Day Leadership Development Programme for UG Student Council Members Post these sessions, participants visited the in-house companies in the campus and interacted with the industry heads. The day-long event concluded with the valedictory ceremony in which participants shared their opinion of the programme and the Resource persons were felicitated for their efforts in putting up a great show.

Sahyadrians Recruited by SAP Labs with the salary package of Rs. 10 Lakhs per annum Melwin Lobo, Adithya M Suvarna, Krishna Prasad P, Ajith Sharma S and Raviganesh M from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering have been selected by SAP Labs in the recently held Campus recruitment drive. The package offered is 10 Lakhs per annum.

Originally known for leadership in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, SAP has evolved to become a market leader in end-to-end enterprise application software, database, analytics, intelligent technologies, and experience management.

Officials from Union Bank and Mathru Sangha Mangaluru visited Sahaydri Mr. T. Nanjundappa and Mr. Harish D Karkera, Senior Officials from Union bank along with Mr. Ravindranath Shetty, Treasurer Bunts Mathru Sangha Mangaluru had visited Sahyadri on 20th September'19. They visited campus and were delighted with the infrastructure. They are looking for opportunities to collaborate with Sahyadri in future

Induction Programme for MBA Batch 2019Induction Programme for MBA Batch 2019 On 19th Sep’19, Ms. Shaine Pillai, Image Consultant & Skill Trainer interacted with the students and shared knowledge on maintaining individual image in the corporate world. She gave personal examples and information regarding image management and development of soft-skills. The core topic of the session was on Image Cycle - How to groom themselves and also social etiquette.

The next session was taken up by Mr. Nithesh Kumar on Martial Arts. He gave awareness on how to stay safe in the neighbourhood. He demonstrated few stunts which could help young generation to save themselves from any mishaps.

Induction Programme for MBA Batch 2019Induction Programme for MBA Batch 2019 On 20th Sep’19, during the day five of Induction Programme, the first session was facilitated by Dr. Malini N Hebbar, Associate Professor of English, St. Agnes College on ‘Communication Skills’. She emphasized on ‘Nothing is new, everything is recycled’. She encouraged the students to adopt a spirit of voluntarism which would help them go far in their life. She also stressed on how important communication is and that one should always be a keen learner.

The next session was conducted by Mr. Rajesh Naidu, Program Director at Aptra Technologies Pvt. Ltd., an in-house company at Sahyadri. He gave insights on what Aptra Technology is all about. He also encouraged the students to take up courses on Data Analytics which would be of great importance in the years to come. The next session was facilitated by Mr. Ankit Kumar, Student Counsellor. He stressed on the importance of Physical Health and Mental Health.

The students also had a session on Zumba which was conducted by Ms. Zin Shan, Fitness Professional at Shan’s Fit Fusion.

Department of Mechanical Engineering is organizing a One-Day National Seminar on “Future Technological Trends in Ceramic Materials” in association with Indian Society of Ceramics, Karnataka Chapter (ISCKC), Bengaluru on Saturday, 21st September 2019 at Ground Floor Seminar Hall, Sahyadri Campus, Adyar, Mangaluru.


• Management Aptitude Test at Sahyadri
Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management in association with All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi, will be conducting Management Aptitude Test (MAT), paper-based exam, for admission to MBA and allied programmes. The exam will be conducted in the morning from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. 63 students from different parts of Karnataka and Kerala will be taking part in this exam.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes.
