Caliper provides Certified Hands-on Internship in Design Engineering & Quality Control to the Students of Mechanical Engineering
In-keeping with the safety norms prescribed by the Govt. during the Covid-19 Induced Lockdown, three students of Mechanical Engineering completed minimum 40 to 100 hours of Certified Hands-on Internship in Design Engineering & Quality Control at Caliper.
Students learnt reading and understanding product specifications, applicable International Design Standards, Design Techniques including CAD modelling, 2D conversion in Design Engineering and usage of high end quality instruments, Digital 2D Height Master, 3D measurements and report preparation in Quality Control.
All students were allowed to participate in LIVE products / manufacturing activities.
Active participation in production culminated in paid internship and the students have been awarded with Internship certificates.

Placement and Training - Bentley Systems Off-campus Hiring
Bentley Systems has launched their off-campus hiring drive for the Civil Engineering students from the 2020 batch, for the post of Graduate Trainee. This is a one-year contract job requirement.
Job Description: Create, Identify, document, and execute test cases from Design documentation and functional specifications, conduct ongoing Functional Testing, Regression Testing, Develop and maintain Test Plans, Report Software Bugs and follow Bug life cycle.
Bentley delivers solutions for the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure asset, tailored to the needs of various professions – the engineers, architects, geospatial professionals, planners, contractors, fabricators, IT managers, operators and maintenance engineers – who will work on and work with that asset over its lifetime.
Day-Four of Bridge Course 2020 for the Engineering Aspirants
Day-Four included engineering concepts - CAD Modelling, Design Thinking and Campus Tour. The morning session was conducted by Mr. Thilak V.S. & Mr. Swastik Kotian. The students created 3-D Models of chassis for DreamKit bot and RC bot using Onshape software for the Mega event.
In the afternoon the students were divided into two batches. The first batch led by Mr. Swastik Kotian and Ms. Shibani Pinto guided the students throughout the campus to introduce them to the facilities provided at Sahyadri and the infrastructure of Sahyadri. The second batch led by Mr. Gouse Khan introduced the students through the concept of Design Thinking and Pitching.
Faculty, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering publishes a Research Paper in Scopus Indexed Q3 Journal
A Research Paper titled “Analysis and Optimisation of Transesterification Parameters for High-yield Garcinia Gummi-Gutta Biodiesel using RSM and TLBO” by Prof. Ajith B.S., Dept. of Mechanical Engineering is published in the Australian Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Taylor & Francis Publications. The Journal is abstracted and indexed in Scopus.
The author would like to acknowledge the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, related to Competitive Research Grant (Reference: VTU/TEQIP 3/2019/321) under TEQIP Program for the financial support of Rupees 2 lakhs and Advanced Energy Research Lab (A Sahyadri Initiative) for providing facilities to conduct tests.
