Chairman of KEONICS visits Sahyadri
Mr. Harikrishna Bantwal, Chairman, Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) visited Sahyadri. He visited various departments and in-house industries across the college and was overwhelmed with the infrastructure and various facilities in the campus.
Mr. Harikrishna appreciated Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman for his approach towards the holistic development of the student community by establishing various initiatives and vehemently stated that this initiative would definitely reap the benefits to the society.
Mr. Harikrishna was accompanied by Mr. Naveen Kumar K., Director-KEONICS during this visit.
Atmanirbhar Project (Make In India) @ Sahyadri - Synchromesh Gears
The Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt. Ltd, In-house Industry at Sahyadri are awarded with several Atmanirbhar (Make In India) projects.
In the journey to self-reliance, Sahyadri is leading the Dakshina Kannada Region by actively engaging with Defence and Nuclear sectors in many projects. Students of Mechanical Engineering at Sahyadri will have great time in being part of this epitome of learning and participating in the nation's prestigious projects.
Bharat Earth Movers Ltd, Mysuru who are supplying Defence vehicles for carrying arms and ammunitions in the battle field has given the responsibility of indigenously developing "Synchromesh Gears" for their Defence vehicles. These are presently imported from Europe. Complete Product right from designing to manufacturing will be carried out at Sahyadri in collaboration with faculty, students and industry experts.
About Synchromesh Gearbox:
Synchromesh Gearbox consists of a synchronizer which resembles a doc clutch, first matches the speed of the driving and driven gear and then meshes both the gears. Advantages of synchro mesh gear box is smooth and silent shifting, minimum wear and tear but a costly gearbox.
Day-Nine of Bridge Course 2020 for the Engineering Aspirants
The Day-Nine of the ongoing Bridge Course for the Engineering Aspirants included Testing & Talk on Communication Strategy.
During the morning session, the final problem statement was explained by Mr. Prajwal Shetty. The students tested Line Follower Bot and Remote Controlled Bot on the final arena. In the afternoon, Mr. Johnson Tellis prepped the students by a small talk on "Making Effective Communication" with 5 effective strategies viz:

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering was invited as Resource Person for a Webinar on 'High Impact Online Lectures' organized by Govt. Polytechnic College (GPC), Barmer, Rajasthan on 15th Sept’2020, as a reverence to Engineers on account of Engineers’ Day.
Dr. Ananth with his simple and lucid explanation, discussed in Hindi about the various devices, equipment and software to be used to make online teaching very effective and impactful. He suggested using of platforms like Jio Meet and Google Meet instead of Zoom meetings.
Further, he shared excellent tips for awesome classes and also elucidated the best use of Google classrooms and flipped classrooms.
In between, Dr. Ananth introduced some games which made the session very lively and interactive. During the Q&A session, the precise answers given by him cleared the doubts of every participant in a very convincing way.
More than 500 teachers across the nation participated in the Webinar.
