Member of Team ‘Hydra’ comes up with the Innovative Idea of Low Cost Ventilator
When students visualise themselves as change-makers even in the smallest manner, their outlook on everyday problems undergoes a positive shift.
Social Innovation Program seeks to catalyse this process during the initial days of Engineering, so that moving forward these to-be Engineers approach community problems empathetically and apply their domain expertise to build impactful solutions.
Harshith of Team ‘Hydra’ from Section ‘C’ was inspired by a medical equipment of great importance in the current pandemic situation, The Ventilator.
He brought back the art of jugaad and incorporated it in his idea which is very relevant given the current scenario. When the entire nation ramped up on increasing Ventilator production on a large scale, Harshith decided to bring together resources at hand to build a DIY ventilator that can be made accessible to communities in immediate need of the equipment.
With a focus on less intensive and immediately accessible devices like the Low-Cost Ventilator prototyped by him, Harshith strived to aid those affected by COVID19 in the most viable manner.
The working prototype has gained a lot of attention and Harshith is looking forward to improving and implementing it in the upcoming days.
