Sahyadri Awarded Two Projects by VGST on Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence

Day Five included introduction to Two Projects from Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering were selected by VGST for financial assistance of Rs. 80 Lakhs in total during the year 2019-20 to establish following Centre of Excellence (CoE)
1. Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security
2. Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) was constituted in October 2008 under the Chairmanship of distinguished Scientist Bharat Ratna - Prof. C. N. R. Rao, F.R.S. Chairman of the Science Advisory Council to Hon'ble Prime Minister, Govt. of India and National Research Professor, JNCASR. It is an apex advisory body to recommend Science and Technology Programs relevant to mandate of Department of Science & Technology (DST). The objective is to encourage and promote Science and Technology Education and Research in the State. VGST plays a vital role in catalyzing, strengthening educational institutions to meet scientific and technological needs.

The main objective of the Project - Establishment of Centre of Excellence in Digital Forensic Intelligence is to establish and create Centre of Excellence in benchmark framework for Network and System forensics for the benefit of the Modern Societies, Capacity Building to Law Enforcement Agencies, Legal Practitioners including Judges, Faculty Fraternity & Students of Higher Learning and Offer Courses on Cyber Security with Interactive portal through Centre of Excellence.

The main aim of establishing an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence is to foster Ground breaking Research, to develop solutions that address societal problems and to become an Artificial Intelligence Competency Centre that provides a platform for collaboration between Industry and Academia. It would also help to impart AI based high-quality training for the students and faculty members involved in UG, PG and Doctoral programs and engage them in design thinking.

Two of the First year Engineering Student’s Projects Selected for I2E Lab Pre- Incubation program

Projects undertaken by two teams of First year Engineering Student’s under Social innovation Program has been selected for I2E Lab Pre- Incubation program (Idea to Entrepreneurship).
team-Lowen-Women Team Lowen Women with members - Ms. Ayeesha Rasha, Ms. Dharithri Rai, Ms. KrithikaShetty and Ms. Preksha Alva have come up with an Innovative Idea for Dysmenorrhea (Painful Periods). Through the Social Innovation Program, the team came up with the idea of a Dysmenorrhea Massager Belt to ease the Pain through a heating mechanism. With the help of the Massager the team hopes to lessen the burden of pain and help reduce the increasing impact of Periods on the women’s daily life.
team-nasap Team Nasap comprising of Mr. Akhilesh P, Ms. Aishwarya, Mr. Sathwik S K and Ms. Neha, focused on the absence of proper utilization of Agricultural waste during the Social Innovation Program. Lack of commercial viability of Agricultural Waste results in large amounts being burned, causing environmental as well as economic concerns. They came up with Mushroom Mania, a sustainable idea of utilizing Agricultural waste to yield Mushrooms, with a vision to create a long-term positive impact on the farmers’ lives as well as that of rural women.

Bridge Course 2020 Second Batch – Day Six

Day Six included building MIT App for controlling the RC-bots and assembling of the line follower robots and RC-bots .
In the morning session, the students worked in building the App for controlling their RC-bots. The session was conducted by the trainer - Mr. Subramanya C, Mr Sujith D and Ms Hithaishy B .
In the afternoon the students were engaged in assembling their Line follower robots and RC-bots. The session was led by Mr. Swastik Kotian and Ms Hithaishy B who helped the students to finish assembling their robots.

Training & Placement

Sahyadrian recruited by Hexaware Technologies

Rahul-Kamath-K Mr. Rahul Kamath K, student of Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering was recruited by Hexaware Technologies in the recently held Virtual Campus Recruitment process. He was selected for the position of Graduate Engineer Trainee. The salary package offered is between INR 3.5 - 5 Lakhs per Annum.


Dept of Information Science & Engineering organized Webinar on Security Aspects and APIs in LINUX

webinar In association with STAISE, ISTE and IEI, the Information Science & Engineering Dept had organized a Webinar on “Security Aspects and APIs in LINUX”. Mr. Shashidhara, Senior Technical Lead-Taskmonk Technologies Pvt Ltd- Bengaluru was the resource person for the webinar.
The session delivered was very insightful and he took hands-on session on installation of LINUX and other related software’s and also discussed regarding shell scripts, security aspects in LINUX.

Fit India Freedom Walk for Faculty

Fit-India-Freedom-Walk2 In commemoration of the first anniversary of Fit India Movement of the Govt. of India, Sahyadri NSS Unit and Dept of Physical Education organized ‘Fit India Freedom Walk‘ for all the teaching and non-teaching staff on Saturday 26th Sept, 2020. The event comprised of 3 kms walk around the campus and the person who finished the walk first was declared as the winner. Around 40 faculty members participated in the event.
