Engineering Student connected Local Industry with Caliper, the Sahyadri in-house Industry
Yash Pawan, Student of Mechanical Engineering took internship at Caliper during Covid induced Lockdown. His hands-on learning culminated in his self-motivation to connect a local industry, Mangalore Dairy.
Mangalore Dairy which was buying engineering products from North India prior to this has now started buying from Caliper, thus saving time and money.
Yash not only facilitated bringing in the first trial order valued approx. Rs. 1 Lac, he also participated in the manufacturing.
Sahyadri's in-house industries are providing hands-on learning as well as live business participation for students.
SOSC organizes Designathon 2020 an Intra-community Design Challenge
Sahyadri Open Source Community (SOSC) conducted its first ever Designathon - Designathon 2020, a weeklong challenge during 29th Aug to 5th Sept’2020.
Designathon 2020 is an intra-community Design Challenge intended to bring creativity to the table. The event was open to all SOSC Members (Core, Probation and Alumni) and consisted of two Illustration challenges and one UI/UX challenge.
The event was judged by the Alumni of the community comprising of Musthaq Ahamed, Rumaan Khalandar and Jehad Mohammed.
The winner of Illustration and UI/UX Challenges is Rahul N.L., 3rd Year, Electronics & Communication Engineering and the winner of Illustration Challenge is Anmol Soni, 2nd Year, Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Bridge Course 2020 for the Engineering Students commences at Sahyadri
The first batch of Bridge Course 2020 for freshers conducted by Technical Career Education (TCE) has commenced on 7th Sept’2020 and will go on till 17th Sept’2020.
Day-One of the Bridge Course had 65 attendees participating in various activities with a hope to know the institute better and get a better understanding of life at Sahyadri. Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO welcomed the students and set the tone for the session with an ice breaking activity.
Mr. Johnson discussed their past experiences in education and what can be expected from engineering. In the second half of the morning session the students took part in fun and fast paced activities to energize themselves while following the Social Distancing protocol. During the afternoon session, students formed teams of 8 and got acquainted with the teams.
Training and Placement - Webinar on "Interview Techniques and Resume Building"
The Training Placement and Career Guidance (TPCG) Cell of Sahyadri collaborated with "Learning from Ant" to organize a Webinar on "Interview Techniques and Resume Building" for the Engineering and MBA Students, on 5th Sept’2020. The Webinar was facilitated by Mr. Anurag Sharma, Founder & Speaker.
The Webinar conducted for Sahyadri was a part of a series of webinars that they have conducted for colleges across India.
They have successfully conducted sessions in major IIT's, NIT's and IIIT's of India.
The Webinar focused on do's and don'ts of writing a Resume, techniques for facing virtual interviews and contents to be written in the cover letter. It was an interactive session wherein the students cleared their doubts and queries related to career, placements, resume building, communication, grooming and interview preparation, etc.

Anurag Sharma comes with an experience of more than 16 years in the education sector and training more than 50,000 students. Most of his students made it to the IIT’s, IIM’s, XLRI, Harvard, and various other prestigious institutes across India and the globe. He has a strong and rich alumni network of students from Ivy colleges.
Dept. of Business Administration organized Webinar on The “new normal” Culture: Challenges and Enablers in an Evolving World
A Webinar on “new normal” Culture : Challenges and Enablers in an Evolving World was organized by the Dept. of Business Administration on 7th Sept’2020.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director- MBA inaugurated the session and gave a glimpse of Sahyadri in her Inaugural address. The session was moderated by Ms. Baljeeth Chhabra, Asia Pacific C&B Leader, Avaya Inc, Singapore.
The first panelist was Mr. Abinav Joshi, HR Entrepreneur, Singapore. He discussed the various Agile principles followed by industries. He emphasized on the importance of following Scrum Guide in implementation of Agile Practices, Individuals and Interactions over Processes and Tools responding to change over following a plan and on Agile approach.
The next panelist was Ms. Seema Balani, Talent Acquisition Lead, NTT Ltd, Singapore. She gave insights into “Key Recruiting Trends” like Mapping changes in the Work Force, Flexibility Imperative, Socio- cultural Impact, tools and techniques used in the recruitment and so on. She said Demographic shift and technological adavances are contributing to cultural shift for flexibility, particularly among younger generation coming into the work force.
Final panelist Ms. Alin Sneha Abraham, People Success Advisor Up! Advisory Pvt Ltd, Singapore, said “Make Failure a Friend” If you don’t fail, you won’t succeed. She said Failing well is a key skill and one should recognize the failure, learn, try again differently, prepare for possibility of failure and successs.
