Two Projects by the Faculty are Shortlisted for VGST Grant 2020
Two projects selected and shortlisted for VGST (Vision Group on Science and Technology) Grant 2020 have been presented to the Expert Committee:
Establishment of Center of Excellence in Digital Forensics Intelligence by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G. Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering has been selected for presentation and Dr. Prabhu has successfully completed his presentation on 8th Sept’2020 before the Expert Committee. The project has been selected for presentation under category CESEM-Centre of Excellence in Science, Engineering and Medicine, VGST.
Similarly, Establishment of Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Pushpalatha K., Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering has been selected for presentation. Dr. Pushpaltha has successfully completed her presentation on 8th Sept’2020 before the Expert Committee. The project has been selected for presentation under category, Karnataka Fund for Infrastructure strengthening in Science & Technology Level – 2 (K-FIST- L2), VGST., VGST
Final results are awaited from VGST.
Caliper provides Certified Hands-on Internship in Speciality Welding & Fabrication to the Students of Mechanical & Civil Engineering
During Covid-19 induced Lockdown, following the safety norms prescribed by the Govt., seven students of Mechanical Engineering and one student of Civil Engineering completed minimum 40 hours to 100 hours of Certified Hands-on Internship in Speciality Welding & Fabrication at Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt. Ltd.
Caliper is an In-house Industry in Sahyadri, serving esteemed clients like Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Railways and Oil & Gas sectors.
Right from understanding the product the students learnt Robotic welding, specialised fabrication techniques during the internship. Students were not only exposed to live production but were also allowed to participate in the production.
The students designed and manufactured pedal operated and hands free sanitizer housings, during the internship. They also designed, manufactured and installed Paint Booth with Water Screen for Caliper.
Active participation in production culminated in paid internship for many. All 8 students have been awarded with Internship certificates.

Day-Three of Bridge Course 2020 for the Engineering Aspirants
Day-Three of Bridge Course included engineering concepts like Android Application Design and CAD Modelling. In the morning session the students created 3-D Models on Onshape and the best teams were rewarded with scores for the grand finale. The session was conducted by trainers Mr. Prajwal Shetty and Mr. Swastika Kotian.
During the afternoon sessions the students created Android Application to control their robots for the final event in MIT App Inventor. The session was conducted by trainers Mr. Subramanya C. and Mr. Sujith D.
