Dr. J. Sundara Rajan, Joint Director, Central Power Research Institution (CPRI) Visits Sahyadri
Dr. J. Sundara Rajan, Joint Director, Central Power Research Institution (CPRI) visited Sahyadri. He is currently head of Centre for Collaborative and Advanced Research (CCAR) and R&D Management Division of CPRI. He also heads the VTU Research Centre of CPRI and manages about 60 Research scholars who are working for their Masters and Doctoral degrees. He joined Central Power Research Institute in the year 1981 and worked in the area of Electrical Insulation and Systems for more than three decades. CPRI, Bengaluru directly comes under the Ministry of Energy, Govt. of India.
Prof. Dr. Sundara Rajan will be giving a talk on Research Opportunity and Scheme of Funding by CPRI to the entire faculty.

The Project “Feasibility study and prototype design for biogas production in an engineering college from canteen food waste” by students of Civil Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Gautham Jeppu, Ms. Rashmishree K. N. and Mr. Umesh S. S., HoD, Department of Civil Engineering, is selected for a financial grant of Rs. 12000/- by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology. The project aims at the study of using canteen food wastes for biogas production.
Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) is a research funding organization under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka.

Awareness Talk on Product Design
 
Mr. Kiran Hebbar of Akar Training & Consultancy Company; authorized training partner of Siemens and ITeS NASSCOM conducted an awareness talk on the topic “Engineering Services - Opportunities for Mechanical Stream Engineering Graduates” for Semesters IV and VI Mechanical Engineering students of the College. He spoke about the importance of Product Design and various tools like UG NX, NC Programming, the scope, job opportunities and companies expecting these skill sets. The students are required to take a certification examination to be conducted by NASSCOM through TCS to be eligible for placement in such companies, he added.

Pool Campus Recruitment drive by Kavin Corporation
Kavin Corporation conducted a pool campus recruitment drive for MBA students in the campus. The drive commenced with a pre placement talk by Mr. Swaroop Raj, Business Development Team Lead. MBA students from various colleges participated in the drive. The process consisted of Aptitude test, Group discussion and Interview. The final results are awaited.

IBM India Pvt. Ltd. Campus Recruitment Drive
 IBM India Pvt. Ltd. conducted a recruitment drive in the Campus. 250 Engineering students of 2015 batch from pool colleges participated in this drive. The final results are awaited.

Prof. B. N. Karkera Chief Guest for 52nd National Maritime Day Celebration
Prof. B.N Karkera, Retired BARC Scientist and Adjunct Professor was invited as the Chief Guest for the 52nd National Maritime Day Celebration at Karwar. National Maritime Day celebrations are held at all major ports viz. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Visakhapatnam and Cochin and certain other ports like Kandla, Jamnagar, Paradip, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Karwar, etc. It includes laying of wreath at Seamen's Memorials, paying tributes and homage to seamen who laid down their lives while on high seas in the first and second world wars.

MBA First Year Men’s Cricket Team Emerge Victorious
The Men’s Cricket Team of first year MBA has won the PG inter-class Cricket Tournament organized by the Department of Physical Education by defeating the MBA second year team in the finals. The team from MBA second year was runner-up. Eight teams participated in the tournament.
