CodeZilla 2k17 powered by Aptra and Mozilla Club“CodeZilla2k17” workshop and coding contest organized by Mozilla club and Aptra Technologies was inaugurated by Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal in Sahyadri Campus. Mr. Balakrishna S S, Vice-Principal, Dr. J V Gorbal, Dean Academics, Mr. Raghupathi Siddoji, Incharge - Aptra Technologies, Mr. Abhiram R, Tech speaker from Mozilla , Mr. Karthik Bhat, Resource Person , Mr. Manjesh P Shetty, Regional Co-ordinator, Mozilla were present during the occasion.

This event has been organized for two days. On the Day 1 Hands-On session was conducted and Day 2 would see coding contest scheduled for students. Total of 150 students from all over Mangaluru participated in the event.

Dr. Vivek Modi talks on “Character & Career” to the MBA students Dr. Vivek Modi, a qualified doctor (MBBS) with Post Graduate Diploma in Administration and a certified trainer addressed the 1st year MBA students on “Character & Career”. In his talk, he reiterated on the importance of blending character with career at workplace.

Dr. Vivek Modi talks on “Character & Career” to the MBA students He quoted an inspirational story of Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest. He also emphasised on self-belief, never give up attitude and respect to own self. It’s not the profession, college or education that makes us great, but it is how good we are in that profession that makes us great or successful. He mentioned that goals are intangible & if we don’t believe in them we can’t achieve them. Self belief is the key to reach our goal and there is no limit for it which fostered thoroughly can assist in reaching any destination of life’s journey.

Dr. M. R. Ravi KAS visits Sahyadri

Dr. M. R. Ravi KAS visits Sahyadri Karnataka Administration Service (KAS) cadre officer Dr. M R Ravi visited our campus and interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. He went around the campus and appreciated the efforts of the management in creating an ambience for learning to the students.

Dr. Ravi is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat. In the Directorate of Collegiate Education, he held several positions and served in places like Mysuru, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Belagavi. Dr. Ravi also served as Chief Manager of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).He is the recipient of many awards and has presided over a few Kannada literary fests.

Manframe Computers is another addition to the existing start-ups that are set up in the fifth floor of the Main campus.

Ms. Chaithra V Murthy, second year MBA student has been recruited as HR by Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited in the recently conducted pooled campus drive. Principal invited as a resource person for an EDP at BDT College of Engineering, Davanagere

Principal-invited-as-a-resource-person-for-an-EDP-at-BDT-College-of-Engineering,-Davanagere Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal was invited as a resource person in VTU sponsored Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on “Importance of Entrepreneurial Mindset among Students” organized by Department of Studies in Mechanical Engineering, University BDT College of Engineering, Davanagere.

The EDP focussed on matters relating to Achievement Motivation, Importance of Entrepreneurial mindset, Concept of Entrepreneurs, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Idea Generation, Creativity and Innovation, Problem Solving, Communication Skills and so on. Dr. Bhushi’s talk was centred on “Entrepreneurship is a way of life”. He stimulated participants to take up Entrepreneurship as it is an attitude and a way of thinking.

Day2-of-Workshop-on-“Microland-campus-recruitment-drive Microland conducted online test as a part of their hiring activity for the engineering students of the 2017 batch. Results declaring the shortlisted candidates are awaited.

Mr. Prajwal Karkera, second year MBA student has been recruited as Assistant Sales Manager by Cool Guru LLP in the recently conducted pooled campus drive. Cool Guru LLP is a startup which is into production and delivery of board games for Management teaching.

Alembic Pharmaceuticals pooled campus recruitment drive Sahyadri Girls Volleyball team emerged as Champions in VTU Inter Zone Volleyball Tournament for the Seventh consecutive year. The tournament was held at BMSIT, Bengaluru.

CLOUDS Organize Arpan2k17 CLOUDS (Computer Legends of the Unified Department @Sahyadri); the student association of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, organized Arpan 2k17; an initiative to help the needy. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. J.V .Gorabal, Dean Academic and Prof. Sudheer Shetty, HOD, Department of Computer Science & Engineering. This was followed by a variety of entertainment by the students.

MBA Faculty chaired a session in National Conference

MBA Faculty chaired a session in National Conference Dr. Rashmi Kodikal, Professor, Department of Business Administration was invited to Chair a session in a National Conference on "Global Brand Building" organised by SDM Post Graduation Centre, Mangaluru. During her deliberation she emphasised on extendibility of the brands across national boundaries. She spoke about Theodore Levitt's theory on death of local brands and inescapable domination of global brands over local brands. Her talk left a message that a company can build a global brand but it should nurture culture specific elements of brand personality.
