Founder Member of YES Bank visits Sahyadri Delegates from YES Bank headed by Mr. R Ravichander, Founder Member along with Mr. Manikandan Janardhanan visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Finance Office Mr. Ramesh Hegde and the faculty from the MBA department - Dr. Vishal Samartha and Prof. Ramesh K G.

Mr. Ravichander highlighted how the bank transformed to a leading private sector bank in a short span of ten years starting from scratch to almost 1200 branches across India today with 20,000 employees on rolls. He also shared the experience of his journey as a founder member of the bank taking the organization to the greater heights.

The delegates were keen on visiting various departments of Sahyadri and their respective innovative centres. They had words of praise for the unique learning atmosphere created for the students.

Elevate 100 for Mangaluru & Udupi region held at Sahyadri Elevate 100 for Mangaluru & Udupi region held at Sahyadri Mr. A. Srinivasa, Additional General Manager, Defence R&D, Helicopter Division, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru visited Sahyadri. He was taken around the campus by Prof. Balakrishna, Vice-Principal. He appreciated the infrastructural facilities and the learning environment in the institution. Mr. Srinivasa interacted with ‘Team Challengers’. He was impressed by the passion and accomplishments of students in Aero design and modelling. He shared few tips for improving the performance of planes. Mr. Srinivas has additional charge of Aerospace Department of Bharath Earth Movers Limited (BEML) involved in design and manufacturing of advanced composite materials for aerospace applications.

Delegates from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) visit Sahyadri

NASSCOM HR Summit at Chennai Ms. Jamie Ramacciotti, Senior Events Manager, QS–USA; Ms. Avantika Vaishnav, Senior Marketing Manager, QS-India and Ms. Anubhuti, Marketing Executive, QS-India visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary to explore International Collaborations with the reputed US universities catering to academic, research and innovations.

QS India would be inviting New York University Tandon School of Engineering, University of South Florida, George Washington University, Keck Graduate Institute, Kennesaw State University and St. Johns University, New York City to Sahyadri campus during September 2018. The event would lead to student interactions in understanding the opportunities for higher studies at US and also interactions with faculty and the representatives from in-campus industries to explore academic and industry connects respectively.

The delegates visited various departments of Sahyadri and their respective innovative centres. The team was fascinated with the student-centric initiatives undertaken by the college and had words of praise for the unique education system established at Sahyadri.

Semester VI B.E. Results - Sahyadri at 88.17%

VTU results of VI Semester of B.E are declared. Out of 685 students who appeared for the VTU Examination 2018-19, 604 students have passed.

Student Induction for New batch of engineering students begins at Sahyadri Student Induction for New batch of engineering students begins at Sahyadri Two-Week AICTE Model Student Induction Programme commenced for the new batch of engineering students effective 6th August 2018. The programme aims at familiarizing students to the Sahyadri Culture and Environment and includes sessions on Universal Human Values, Team Building, Group Living, Health and Safety, Yoga and Exercise, Sports Activities, Creative arts, Drama and Theatre, Life Skills, Soft Skills, Relationships Values and so on.

MBA Dept signs an MOU to Mentor the Student’s Overall Development of GFGC, Punjalkatte

MBA Dept signs an MOU MBA Dept signs an MOU Department of Business Administration-MBA signed an MOU with Government First Grade College, Punjalkatte to Mentor their institution in terms of Student’s Development. The MOU was signed between Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Prof. Ganapathi Bhat Kulamarva, Principal of GFGC Punjalkatte.

The Phase I of MOU kick-started with a workshop on “Resume Writing & Facing Interview” facilitated by Prof. Sushma V and Prof. Girish Madla, Dept. of Business Administration-MBA in their college for the final year degree students. The Department is also assisting their institution in finding sponsors to strengthen their infrastructure. With the intent to bridge the gap of non-availability of a Computer Lab in their institution, the Phase II of the MOU would see students of GFGC, Punjalkatte visiting Sahyadri for a “One-Day Training on Advanced Excel”. They shall also visit the in-house industries of Sahyadri and takeaway whole lot of learning experience back to their institution.

There are more such institutions in the pipeline expressing their interest to sign an MOU with Sahyadri MBA in order to support their students.

Delegate from KBITS at Sahyadri Delegate from KBITS at Sahyadri Ms. Prathiba Gangoji Rao, Head of Finance & Investment Division, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS) visited Sahyadri. She interacted with the companies and had great admiration for the products developed by them. Ms. Prathiba also gave suggestions on the process of funding for the established business and how the companies can take part in them. She appreciated the effort of entire team for the distinct initiatives of the institution.

Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management and Life Time Asset Strategies Private Limited is a start up company from Mangaluru operating in the area of financial services. Mr. Anand Hatwar, Branch Manager, ABSLAM and Mr. Ravish Balakrishnan, Director of LTASPL addressed the participants on various avenues available for the investors and how investing in the early stage of their life in Mutual Funds is going to help the investors to accumulate wealth over long term. They also clarified the queries raised by the participants.

Student Induction for New batch of engineering students begins at Sahyadri A One-Day Specialized Technical Training Programme was facilitated by a team of experts from ABC group for the Final Year Engineering students of Computer Science, Information Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering. A total of 160 students attended the session.

Aradhya’s Brilliance Center (ABC) for Technology Training is the leading finishing school for delivering High-End Technology Training. The Boot strap session on Technical needs of IT companies would enable the final years’ to understand the current IT industry expectations from a fresher perspective. The session commenced with an introduction to the current technical job opportunities and the new technologies particularly on the Automation front. Various case studies like cracking the technical aptitude round WRT service based companies; WRT product based companies with real time examples; and lastly (Pattern Programming) to crack the programming round which is today one of the prominent rounds during recruitment, were conducted.

Faculty members attend Infosys Campus Connect FEP on “Foundation Program 5.0”

Prof. Pooja N S and Prof. Sunil B N, Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended a Faculty Enablement Programme on “Foundation Program 5.0” which was organized by “Infosys Limited” for faculty from different parts of Karnataka.

The Five-Day FEP focussed on Programming Skills and Data Base Management as it is the basic requirement to get into the Infosys Limited as a Fresher for Development.

MBA Student clears UGC NET July 2018

Ms. Athmeeya H P, 2nd year MBA student has cleared the UGC NET held in July 2018. Athmeeya was encouraged by the department to write UGC NET when she expressed her interest to pursue Ph.D. All through her academics she has been a Distinction holder and is awaiting her MBA final semester results which will be released soon.

The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET, is a test to determine eligibility for college and university level lectureship and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals. It aims to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching professions and research.

Sahyadri hosts Toastmasters International Leadership Training Programme

Sahyadri hosts Toastmasters International Leadership Training Programme Toastmasters International Leadership Training & Club Interaction Programme was organized in Sahyadri Campus on Sunday, 5th August 2018. The event was attended by various clubs under Division F. The office bearers of all the clubs underwent training for their respective designated roles. The event began with a presentation of duties and responsibilities by Coaches. A panel discussion moderated by TM Molly Chaudhari discussed on concepts of pathways. The use of digital pathways was explained. DTM Gayathri became the first DTM in India to complete her ice-breaker through pathways.

Sahyadri Toastmasters Club was awarded the Torchbearer Award

Elevate 100 for Mangaluru & Udupi region held at Sahyadri Sahyadri Toastmasters Club was awarded the Torchbearer Award by the Toastmasters Leadership Institute during the Club Officers Training Programme organized at the Sahyadri campus on 5th August 2018.

The new Revitalised Education Program of Toastmasters International was rolled out in District 92 on 3rd May 2018. Clubs in which four members achieved Level 1 in the first two months were presented this award. Members of Sahyadri Toastmasters Club were successful in achieving this award.

The award was presented by District 92 Programme Quality Director, DTM Rajkumar Bansal, Club Growth Director, DTM Boopathy Sankar P S , Division F Director, DTM Savitha Salian and Division F Educom Director, DTM Malini Hebbar.

Two-Day Advanced FDP for First year Engineering Faculty A Two-Day Advanced Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was conducted for the teaching faculty facilitating classes for the first year engineering students. Mr. A H Sagar, an International Educationist was the resource person. He conducted activity-based training and imparted the unique techniques of teaching. The participating faculty presented a topic of their choice based on which their colleagues evaluated the presentation and their class management skills. During the FDP, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation; Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Director–Strategic Planning and Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal addressed the faculty about the importance being humanely connected with the students rather than just subject matter delivery.

MBA Faculty visits Orion Coats, Mysore to explore opportunities in Research and Consultancy Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA, Prof. Ramesh KG, Prof. Girish Madla and Prof. Sushma V from the Dept. of Business Administration visited Orion Coats, Mysore, a Paint Manufacturing Company to discuss opportunities on Research and Consultancy for the students. During the interaction, the Managing Director expressed his interest to provide internship and LIVE projects as he intends to expand his organization.

Sacred Geometry: From Entertainment, Refinement and Enlightenment Perspective Dr. S Ramakrishna Sharma held three sessions, an hour each, on Sacred Geometry in Ivarmalai Anaadi Foundation venue. Anaadi Foundation celebrated its annual day recently which was attended by dedicated volunteers from different states. Dr. Sharma was invited for delivering three talks on practices of our Rishis which facilitated expansion of individual consciousness. Sacred Geometry is a topic drawn from the Tantra Tradition of Shree Chakra. Dr. Sharma took the minds of the audience to the fundamental forms of the Five Great Elements namely Aakasha, Vaayu, Agni, Aapah and Prithivi.

Refinement of speech, thought and actions is brought about by practices using Mandalas, Chakras and Padma patterns.

Enlightenment is the culmination of expansion of individual consciousness when the Spiritual Reality is realized as one’s own centre.

Dr. Sharma also interacted with Padmashree Awardee Dr. P R Krishnakumar, Chancellor of Avinashilingam University who visited Anaadi Foundation to address the gathering. Dr Sharma briefed him about research in Indian Scientific Heritage Awareness and Applications.
