Mr. Aditya Gupta CEO India Didactics Association Visits Sahyadri

Mr. Aditya Gupta, CEO, India Didactics Association visited the campus and very much appreciated the efforts of the research labs and entrepreneurship nature of Sahyadri and the startups. During the visit he interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Principal Dr. U. M. Bhushi and he addressed the faculty on the various tools and techniques available in teaching and learning pedagogy across the globe. He appreciated the teaching fraternity because of which renowned people have adorned various key positions across the world. Changing the mindset and willingness to use technology in classroom is vital in today’s technological age. He advised students to go beyond classroom teaching and develop innovative products which would cater to the needs of the society. He said technology is not the solution, it’s only a facilitator. Together, we can initiate a movement and make a difference.

He also extended the invite to all the faculty members to be part of the DIDAC INDIA event to be held from the 28th to 30th September 2016 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Bengaluru. DIDAC INDIA is the only event in the Asia Pacific region for Educational Material, Training & Technology based solutions for all levels and sectors of the Education & Training Industry. Held annually, the International Exhibition & Conference addresses the growing demand for these products & solutions in the Indian Subcontinent. The event is partnered by the Worlddidac Association, British Education Suppliers Association (BESA), DIDACTA (Germany) & India Didactics Association and the event is supported by all prominent ministries of the Government of India and various educational bodies.

Mr. Gupta has travelled worldwide and interacted with many renowned personalities and aims at bringing international education standards at the doorstep of every educational institution in India.

K. Virupaksha GM Canara Bank Mangaluru Visits Sahyadri

Mr. K. Virupaksha, General Manager, Canara Bank, Circle Office, Mangaluru along with the Assistant General Manager, Mr. B. G. Manjunath visited Sahyadri. He was received by our Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. They went around the College and were appreciative of the infrastructure and facilities of the College. Mr. Virupaksha has assured all possible guidance to Sahyadri in the future.

Orientation Programme for Parents of New Entrants Held in the Campus

The Orientation Programme for the parents of new entrants to the engineering stream was held in the Campus in two batches. Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary welcomed the parents and provided an overview of Sahyadri and its growth since inception. He addressed parents saying that the college is just a dead infrastructure, to which only the students can bring about a difference and make an impact.

He shared few of his personal views with parents that they need to develop a friendly relationship with their wards and also closely monitor every activity of theirs. He also advised the parents to make their ward self-dependent, and insisted that skill and personality development to be taught from home itself. He added that discipline and attitude of the student plays a vital role in shaping one's career. He provided an option to the parents of availing educational loans, in order to make their ward financially responsible. He gave additional details about the E-buzz, E-mails, E-magazine and Newsletter. He concluded by saying - “Do not educate the children to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when they grow up, they will know the value of things, not the price”.

Principal, Dr. U. M. Bhushi, delivered the concluding remarks at the end of the program, by narrating live examples in connection to the students’ attitude. He placed the placement statistics and explained the code of conduct that every student has to follow in the campus.

Principal Invited as Chief Guest by VDRIT for Freshers Welcome Function

Dr. U M Bhushi was invited as the Chief Guest to grace the occasion `Sankalp 2016’; the Freshers welcome function at K L S Vishwanathrao Deshpande Rural Institute of Technology, Haliyal. In his speech to the freshers of the institute he spoke on the changing role of parents and on how students can become independent individuals.

Karnataka Law Society, founded by eminent lawyers of Karnataka in 1939, has been rendering a yeoman service in the sphere of professional education in this part of the country. It has the distinction of running colleges in the fields of Law, Commerce, Engineering and Management Education. MBA core finance students visit two units of Master Plannery at Hale Nerenky & Puttur

As a part of the course curriculum, 60 final year MBA core finance students visited two plants of Master Plannery located in Puttur and Hale Nerenky. They were accompanied by Prof Vidyavathy, Prof Ramesh K G, Prof Abhaya Kumar and Prof Gayathri Shetty. The students were shown the actual execution of the entire process of creating concood furniture, hollow block and other products. Mr Shyam, Site Engineer gave a broad perspective of the manufacturing process and appraised the team on the various activities of the unit in Hale Nerenky. Students visited various in-house workshops and personally interviewed the workers. Post-lunch students were taken to another branch of Master Plannery located in Puttur. Students had the opportunity of viewing the various innovative products manufactured under one roof of the unit.

Master Plannery is a manufacturer and supplier of concood furniture, furniture, rafters for tiled roofing, hollow block, concrete ventilators, pipes, drainage sections etc. They also design, plan and build civil engineering structures such as houses, schools, and other public buildings.

Shreya K. an accomplished dance artiste

Shreya K. second year student of Information Science & Engineering is an accomplished dance artiste. She is a disciple of Guru Geetha Saralaya and has passed the Bharatanatyam dance examination with distinction. She performed Rangapravesham in 2010 and won many national awards like Aralu Mallige, Vachanadhare, and Jnanashree. She has performed in nearly 100 prestigious national dance festivals in India and abroad. Recently, she presented the Thridasha Nrithya Gajna with Nrithya Bharathi(R) at the Mangalore Town Hall to a packed audience.

Sahyadri Welcomes New Mangaluru DC

Dr. K G Jagadeesh, an IAS officer of 2005 batch has been appointed the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district. Dr. C K Manjunath, Prof. of Humanities & Administrator, on behalf of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, met the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district and presented him a welcome bouquet. He explained to the DC the achievements, courses, startups, placements and the social innovation activities that are carried out at the Campus. Dr. Jagadeesh was very happy to know about the college developments and congratulated the Chairman for his sincere efforts. He has assured that in his free time he will visit the Campus

Dr K G Jagadeesh earlier served as the DC of Kalaburagi district and was the first DC of Yadgir district. He is presently the managing director of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL) in Bengaluru. He has also rendered service as the Director of Horticulture, Assistant Commissioner of Kalaburagi sub-division and Commissioner of Kalaburagi City Corporation.

SSTH Makes Second Visit to Kanachur PU and High School

Faculty member, Mr. Dileepkumar U., accompanied and Mr. Srujan from DTlabz made their second SSTH (Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt) visit to Kanchur High School and Kanachur PU College, Derlakatte, Mangalore. The team demonstrated the different projects to pre-university students and high school students. At the end of the session students interacted with the SSTH team.

SSTH 2016 Awareness Program Held at Various Colleges & High Schools

Pana PU College

Faculty member, Ms. Pavanalaxmi accompanied by Mr. Nishanth K. and Mr. Rohith Choudhary of DTlabz made their second SSTH (Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt) visit to Pana PU College, Kolambe, Mangalore. The team demonstrated the working of Bluetooth controlled bot to an enthusiastic crowd of 200 students who at the end of the interaction session showed great interest to participate in upcoming SSTH events.

Sharada High School

The SSTH team visited Sharada High School, Kodialbail, to create awareness of the Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt competitions. Mr. Harisha, faculty member accompanied by a team comprising of Mr. Nishanth K. and Mr. Rohith Choudhary of DTlabz demonstrated the working of the Bluetooth controlled bot to students and explained about Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt. Nearly 100 students enthusiastically interacted with the team and showed great interest to participate in upcoming SSTH events.

Sri Bhuvanendra and Jain PU College

The SSTH (Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt) team with faculty members, Mrs. Usha S., and Mr. Karnakumar K. S. along with Mr. Srujan from DTlabz visited Sri Bhuvanendra PU College Karkala and Jain PU College Moodabidri. The team demonstrated the different projects to pre-university students. At the end of the session, students interacted with the SSTH team and also many students showed keen interest to participate in the SSTH competition after the demo session.
