Faculty Members PhD Research Results Published in 2 Elsevier Journals

The PhD research results of Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering are published in 2 Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Elsevier journals. The first research article titled "Fusion of Sparse Representation and Dictionary Matching for Identifications of Humans in Uncontrolled Environment" is published in Elsevier Journal of Computers in Biology and Medicine, USA (Thomson Reuters Impact Factor: 1.683). In this research article a fusion system was developed by combining biomechanics based gait recognition and biometric based composite sketch matching for identifying humans in crowded scenes. Initially gait recognition is developed using Sparse Representation to generate the first score, next composite sketch matching is developed using Dictionary Matching to generate the second score. Finally score level fusion is performed using Dempster Shafer and Proportional Conflict Distribution Rule Number 5. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/

The second research article titled "ODROID XU4 Based Implementation of Decision Level Fusion Approach for Matching Computer Generated Sketches" is published in Elsevier Journal of Computational Science, USA, (Thomson Reuters Impact Factor: 1.553). In this research article another novel technique was developed to match computer generated sketches with face photos. Initially feature extraction is performed using supervised auto-encoder to build deep architecture and matching is performed between computer generated sketches and face photos using Parallel Convolutional Neural Network. Decision level fusion is performed to obtain the optimal matching result. The developed technique was implemented on ODROID XU4, which is one of the latest single board computing device having extremely high energy efficiency and very powerful, it also has a small form factor when compared to any other ARM based embedded devices which makes it feasible to be used for real-time application. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/
