Chairman and Dr. Manjappa attend AHMP Conference at Washington, D.C.

Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director, Research and Consultancy, attended Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP), National Conference, at Omni Shoreham, Washington, D.C., USA from August 28-31, 2016. AHMP 2016 is one of the most valuable resources for education and networking. The landscape of EHS&S is constantly changing, hence AHMP 2016 emphasis environmental, health safety and security professional and leaders to have the vision, knowledge and the experience to effectively manage hazardous materials and mitigate risk. AHMP 2016 states that it is crucial that for all of us to continue our professional development, remain adaptable, motivated, responsive, experience emerging trends, develop new skills and build a powerful community of colleagues and revitalize the passion for the profession. AHMP 2016 had 650+ Colleagues, 60+ Exhibitors, 70+ Peer Reviewed Sessions, 4+ Pre Conference Workshops, 8+ Subject Matter Areas, Technical Tours, and On-Site CHMM/CHMP & CDGP Credentialing Exams.

Sahyadrians in state finals of Verbattle 2016

Four teams comprising of eight students participated in the state finals of Verbattle 2016,India's largest debate competition .0ver 1200 students from more than 67 schools and colleges all over Karnataka participated in the event. Sahyadri team consisting of Bhavik Das of 7th semester from the department of Mechanical Engineering and Sahana of 7th semester from the department of Electronics & Communication were jointly placed fourth. A team of our students also served as volunteers and helped in the smooth management of the event, which was well appreciated by the event organizers.

VTU Semester II Results

The Semester II B.E. results have been announced for the 2015-16 examination conducted by the VTU. Overall percentage score of the college is 75.57.

Jaro Education Pooled Campus Recruitment Drive

Ms. Juhi Bakshi, HR Manager, Jaro Education, Mumbai conducted the pooled campus drive at Sahyadri for MBA Students. 220 students from different colleges participated in the drive. Fifteen of our students were shortlisted after attending Group discussion as part of the first round of interview. Final results are awaited.

Sahyadrians attend workshop organized by Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Mumbai

Mr. Gautham Nayak, Technical Trainer, Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Prithviraj Ranjan Kumar, of 1st semester from the department of Mechanical Engineering have attended 3- day workshop on " Exposure to Product Design and Innovation" organized by the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Mumbai. The workshop consisted of sessions like Design Process, Human Centric Product Innovation, Product Semantics, Typography and Design for interactive experiences, which were engaged up by eminent personalities like Prof. Ravi Poovaiah, Prof. U A Athavankar, Prof. K Munshi, Prof. V.P. Bapat, Prof. B.K. Chakravarthy of Industrial Design Centre (IDC). DTlabz expressed its gratitude to Prof. Richard Pinto, Director, CENT, for providing them an opportunity to be part of the workshop.

DTLabz organizes workshop for the PU students

As a part of SSTH 2016, DTlabz organized a workshop on Arduino, for passionate students of St. Aloysius PU College in Sahyadri Campus. Total of 109 students participated in the workshop. Mr. Johnson Tellis, Director, Mr. Sachin Ganesh, CEO and Mr. Shrajan Bhandary, CTO of DTLabz conducted sessions during the course of the workshop.

Similar Workshop was also held at St. Agnes PU College with 120 students participating with immense enthusiasm. Mr. Johnson Tellis, Director, Mr. Sagar, Intern and Mr. Suhas, Intern of DTlabz took up the training sessions.

Commencement of Induction Programme for the New MBA Entrants

A six-day Induction Programme for the New Entrants to the MBA course for the year 2016-18 commenced in the Campus. Day One of the programme had sessions relating to the VTU curriculum, Expectation Setting with regards to Discipline and Dress Code, Introduction to the faculty team. In addition to this Mr. Vaikunt R Prabhu, Co-Founder & Director, LIGA Edu Tech Pvt. Ltd was invited to address the students who shared effective tips on how the students should groom themselves in the two years to a level that is expected by corporate organisations. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal in his presidential address, urged the students to Live MBA every moment of their life at Sahyadri.

Guests Mr. Dheeraj Shetty, Plant HR Head, Indo-US MIM Pvt Ltd & Dr. J N Bhat, Medical Superintendant, SCS Hospital, Mangalore were invited from industry to address the students during the Day two of Induction Programme. In addition to this, Mr. Achutha Shenoy K, Associate-1, KPMG GDC, Bangalore, alumnus of Sahyadri MBA (YR 2014-16 Batch) also spoke to the students. The sessions were engaging with interactive sessions which urged students to speak up and get used to the culture followed at Sahyadri MBA.

Faculty Member Invited as a Resource Person

Prof. Padmanabha B., Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, was invited as the Resource person for the “Leadership Training” to the student leaders, organized by “Yuva Vahini” Mangalore Wing. Student leaders from fifteen colleges affiliated to Mangalore University were the participants of the programme. The training programme mainly focused on effective communication, team building and conflict management.

Student secures 10/10 SGPA in University examination

Pankaj Kumar Rathi from the department of Computer Science & Engineering has secured 10/10 SGPA in the recently held 2nd semester University examinations. He scored S+ Grade in all the subjects. This is the first instance at Sahyadri wherein a student has secured maximum possible SGPA. The college Management, Director, Principal, Vice Principal, Dean Academics, HOD’s, faculty members – both teaching & non-teaching and students have conveyed their best wishes for this outstanding achievement.

Research Articles of the Faculty Member are Published in International Journals

Research Articles of Mrs. F. Jyothi Serrao, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, are published in 2 of the Science Citation Indexed (SCI), Taylor & Francis Journals. The first research article titled “Sol ageing effect on the structural, optical and electrical properties of Ga-doped ZnO thin films” is published in the Journal of Materials Technology (2016), 31:8, 443-447. The second article titled “Structural, optical and electrical properties of sol–gel prepared Ga:ZnO thin film”, is published in the Journal of Materials Research Innovations (2016), 20:6, 470-474. The articles are about the preparation of high-quality Ga-doped ZnO thin films by low cost and simple sol-gel spin coating method to achieve a combination of high optical transmittance and low electrical resistivity, suitable for the low-cost optoelectronic device applications.

MBA Faculty presents paper at the National Conference

Mr. B. Raghavendra Prabhu, Assistant Professor S-1, Department of Business Administration attended a Two day National Conference on "Innovations and Transformations in Banking, Management, IT, Education, and Social Sciences" organised by Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, Mangaluru. He presented a paper titled “Self employed Perception on Mobile Banking - A study with reference to self- employed professionals at Ujire, Dakshina Kannada”.

A paper entitled “Feasibility of Eggshell Powder and Lime Stabilized Black Cotton Soil as Sub Grade Material for Road Construction”, authored by Ms. Kavyashree M P, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering has been published in International Journal for Science and Advance Research in Technology, Volume 2 Issue 8 – AUGUST 2016.ISSN [ONLINE] : 2395-1052

A paper entitled “Wet Land Mapping and Change Detection Using Remote Sensing and GIS”, published in International Journal of Engineering Science and Computing, Volume 6 Issue 08 – JUNE 2016.

Faculty felicitated

Mr. Rakshith P. Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering was felicitated by Verbattle foundation for his everlasting support towards foundation and debating in general. He also acted as judge for verbattle kannada and verbattle junior events. He had an opportunity to meet and interact with Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka during the verbattle event.
