Another Feather in the Cap: Sahyadri named Engineering College of the Year 2015 for Value Addition
Higher Education Review in its December 2015 issue has named Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management as the Engineering College of the Year 2015 for its Value Addition for the positive impact that the institute has made on the society and the education fraternity. This is another feather in the cap for the college.

VTU Introduces Complete Reference Book for Campus Recruitment for Engineering & MBA Students
Visvesvaraya Technological University, Centralised Placement Cell, has introduced a book “Complete Reference for Campus Recruitment” for B-Tech, BE, M.Tech. MCA and MBA students. Faculty Members Visit nVIERATECH Info Systems Pvt. Ltd.
Prof. Sudheer Shetty, HoD and Dr. Sarvesh Vishwakarma, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering visited nVIERATECH Info Systems Private Limited, Bengaluru, for the viva voce on internship of Ms. Anisha (M.Tech. III Semester Student, CSE, SCEM, Mangaluru).
They interacted with Mr. Lalithaprasanna R & Mr. Ravi Karlapalem, Directors and Mr. Mahesh D, Vice President of the company and explored the opportunities for internship program for M.Tech/B.E. students. A memento was presented to Mr. Mahesh D for their effort and support in facilitating internships for our students.

Faculty Members Visit Asea Brown Boveri Global Industries Limited
Prof. Sudheer Shetty, HoD and Dr. Sarvesh Vishwakarma, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering visited ABB Global Industries and Services Limited, Bengaluru, for the viva-voce on internship of Mrs. Prajna Udupa (M.Tech. III Semester Student, CSE, SCEM, Mangaluru; Project Title: Designing and Developing AML Converter for Input Output Scanner to Enable Efficient Engineering of Real Field Devices in Process Automation).
They interacted with Mr. Arun Babu, Group Manager and Mr. Manoj Parashuram, Technical Specialist of the company and explored the opportunities for internship program for M.Tech/B.E. students. A memento was presented to Mr. Arun Babu for their effort and support in facilitating internships for our students.

Prof. Mahesh B Davanageri Appointed as HoD of Mechanical Engineering
Prof. Mahesh B Davanageri has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has completed his B.E in Industrial Production from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, M.E. in Design Engineering from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. studies (Material Characterization) at NITK, Surathkal. He has published four International and two National journal publications and presented papers in three national conferences. He has got more than twenty-one years of experience in teaching and three years of experience in research.

TCS Off Campus Recruitment Drive
TCS held an online test as part of their off campus recruitment drive for the 2015 passed out students of the college. Sixty-seven students took the test. The results are awaited.

A paper titled “Reduction of Cycle Time with the Application of Value Stream Mapping and Simulation in Die Casting Industry” by Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Pradeep Gunaki, and S.N.Teli, has been accepted for publication in the 9th ISDSI International Conference, January 02 - 04, 2016 Goa, India.

Faculty Member Presents Work in Nano-Bio-Med-2015 at IIT Bombay
Dr. Niraj Joshi, Associate Professor, CENT, KGRC presented his work titled “Room Temperature Ethanol Sensing Properties of BiFeO3 Thin films Grown by PLD” at the third conference on Nanotechnology for Biological and Biomedical Applications (Third Nano-Bio-Med 2015) held at IIT, Bombay. Prof. Richard Pinto, Director CENT, Miss Madhuri Patel, Prof. Ruchira Jadhav from K. J. Somaiya College, Mumbai and Miss Cijy Mathai, IITB, Powai are the other authors in the paper.
The conference was arranged in cooperation with the Office of External Affairs, International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy. ICTP is a highly reputed Centre founded in 1964 by Dr. Abdus Salam (Nobel Laureate). The conference was the sequel of two earlier conferences which were held at ICTP, Trieste, Italy. The conference topic was new developments, investigations and applications of Nanotechnology for Biomedicine and Agriculture related topics. The conference was attended by many internationally and nationally reputed scientists.

Faculty Member Invited As Resource Person
Mr. Naveen Pilar, Department of Art and Culture, was invited as the resource person to the workshop conducted for the government employed teachers of the primary and high school level. Mr. Pilar gave the audience certain guidelines as to how learning can be even more interesting with art and craft for it induces the minds of the students and enhances the ability to grasp.
At another event, he was also invited to judge the cultural competition at the District level Youth fest held at Udupi recently.
