AGM of TATA Power Company visits Sahyadri Mr. Subbayya Bhandary, Assistant General Manager, The Tata Power Company Ltd., Strategic Engineering Division, Bengaluru visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. He went around the institute and appreciated the start up initiatives and the encouragement given to the students to nurture their talents and innovative ideas. He complimented the management, staff and students of Sahyadri for professionally contributing to society.

Guest talk on “Opportunities for Grant-in-Aid in DST” for faculty

Opportunities for Grant-in-Aid in DST  Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Varshney, Scientist 'G' /Advisor, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India visited the campus & appreciated the efforts of the management on the Hands on Lab and the value added courses with Internship offering and the start up companies located in the campus. He specifically applauded the efforts of first year students taking up social innovation projects. He addressed the faculty on the “Opportunities for Grant-in-Aid in DST”, detailed out on various avenues available for faculty and the institute from DAE, DOS, DRDO, DBT, DSIR, MEITY, MOES, CSIR. He also spelt the role of DST in popularization of Science & Technology. He also briefed about the following fellowship programmes

Alumni of Sainik School Bijapur visit Sahyadri

Alumni of Sainik School Bijapur visit Sahyadri  Dr. Suresh Jangamashetti, alumnus of Doctorate and Masters from IIT Kharagpur in Electrical and Electronics engineering, also was a best IEEE counselor of Asia visited along with Mrs. D. S. Jangamashetti, Doctorate from IIT Mumbai, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur(Masters) had visited Sahyadri. Accompanying them was also Shri. Udaynarayan Bhat, Director Koppert. All of them along with Principal are alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur. They specifically came to study the academic processes at Sahyadri which is aiding in grooming practicing Engineers. They appreciated that being affiliated practices are beyond any autonomous institutes. Setting up industries in campuses will only erase the tag of Unemployability. Hands on experience lab and Social Innovation projects were appreciated and that it will be future norm by AICTE along with Internships.

They discussed with the Chairman of Sahyadri and added value to the existing plans. They have decided to place some of their students for Internships along with faculties. They complimented the unique initiatives of Sahyadri and said it was primarily feasible because of Long term vision of Chairman with apt support.

Wished that every student uses all the avenues for their professional growth. Also suggested the young faculties should tie up with industries in campus and enhance value to the basic knowledge. Institute should go for autonomous status to make education relevant and need based.

Dr.D.S.Jangamashetti is the HOD of E&E department and Dr.S.H.Jangamashetti is Professor in the department of an very old renowned college of "Basaveshwar Engineering College Bagalkot" which is one of the oldest Engineering colleges having started in 1963 which is NAAC accredited with A(3.39) and also NBA accredited and also have TEQIP grants too.

Swachata Sankalp - Door- to –door awareness program on Cleanliness by Students and Staff of Sahyadri

MBAs on Industry Visit to Bengaluru The students and staff of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management took part in Swachata Sankalp, a door – to – door awareness building program about maintaining cleanliness and solid waste management organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaladevi . Volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission along with students and staff of Sahyadri visited the shops and market at Kulshekara and gave awareness regarding solid waste management and urged them to keep their surroundings clean. Approximately 100 shops were covered and information about waste segregation and management was explained. This initiative by Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Ramakishna Mission was well appreciated by the public.

Kambala Solutions conduct Pool Campus Recruitment drive  Kambala Solutions visited Sahyadri to conduct Pool Campus Recruitment drive for the 2017 passed out batch. 7 students got shortlisted. 4 got selected, 2 are from Sahyadri.

First Year MBA students visit Pilikula Biological Park

First Year MBA students visit Pilikula Biological Park   First Year MBA’s visited the Pilikula Biological Park as a part of their Marketing Course. The students were divided into 10 teams and were assigned a project to understand the issues of Pilikula Botanical Park, increase footfalls and also ensure more sales conversion in terms of visitors to the Park. The students would be working towards sourcing funds to adopt animals by selling the zoo concept to individuals or business organizations and also would have to create promotional videos and post on social media. Students also interacted with the employees of the biological park.

Pilikula Nisargadhama project commenced in 1996, with a view of protecting the environment, heritage and improving tourism. It was an effort to develop this natural habitat spread across 370 acres into a tourist hotspot. Pilikula Nisarga Dhama is a major eco-education and tourism development project promoted by the District Administration of Dakshina Kannada in the beautiful city of Mangalore in Karnataka State, India. A significant Biological Park is established in Pilikula Nisarga Dhama has major focus on the wildlife species of Western Ghats. The park is named as Dr. Shivaram Karanth Biological Park. The park consists of an area of 82 hectares. In accordance with prevailing laws, the central Zoo Authority of India has recognized the park.

Pilikula Zoo has been classified as a Major Zoo by the Central Zoo Authority of India. It is the only zoo recognized as a breeding centre for King Cobras. However, for the development, maintenance and for various programmes, it entirely depends on local revenue and donations. It incurs huge cost on feeding, medicines, shelters, management etc. Therefore it needs support from the public to maintain and develop as one of the best Zoos of our country. Amazingly, Pilikula has been made possible by generous people who understand the need & benefit of conserving biodiversity and cultural heritage and have come forward with financial resources as well as personal involvement.

MBAs attend NHRD Showcase in Bengaluru

MBAs attend NHRD Showcase in Bengaluru Aditya Rao, Nehal Sheth, Fiola DSouza, Sanmathi Jain, Jackson, Kalpitha Acharya, Nageshwara Pai & Ninad Joshi - students of first year MBA attended the NHRD showcase held in Bengaluru. Students participated in various sessions facilitated by renowned HR practitioners.

The NHRD Showcase also consists of stalls by different organizations where they compete for awards in different categories for the innovative HR practices in their organizations. Students interacted with HR practitioners in these stalls and understood the different practices of HR followed in different organizations and also networked with HR professionals.

The NHRD HR Showcase is a signature event of the NHRD Bengaluru Chapter and is shaped to bolster the enduring spirit of the HR practices. The Showcase is a platform to present HR excellence, spanning a range of unique sensibilities, from an intellectual re-imagining of concepts and cultures to an intuitive adaptability for significant business impact.

MBAs on Industry Visit to Bengaluru

MBAs on Industry Visit to Bengaluru First year MBA students along with Dr. Vishal Samartha, Prof. Ramesh KG, Prof. Girish M, Prof. Gayathri Shetty, Prof. Ridhvika Shetty & Prof. Sushma V are in Bengaluru for Industry exposure visit.

During the Day One, they have visited the manufacturing division of Garuda Polyflex Foods Pvt Ltd.

Students had an interactive session with the Head HR, Quality Manager & Marketing Head of the company. Post which they were shown the manufacturing unit wherein the students had indepth understanding of the step by step manufacturing process of the company. Students were apprised that the firm is a Joint Venture between an Indonesia firm and an Indian Firm. They were also given heads up on the Quality Checks undertaken to ensure maximum Quality. They are currently producing Chocolate sticks, Jelly Drink & also imported Sweet Cheese Crackers as a pilot launch to study the customer preference regards this product to further manufacture it and launch it in the Indian market. Over 130 students are a part of the industry exposure visit in Bengaluru.

Should be the resident of Mangalore City Corporation.

Students who have applied under Social Welfare Department scholarship are not eligible.

Eligible students may submit copies of marks card, caste certificate, income certificate & ration card in 2 sets to the scholarship section on or before 12th December 2017.

Best Paper Presentation Award won at the International Conference Advanced Computer Software Group Limited visited Sahyadri on the 8th of December '17 to conduct Pool Campus Recruitment drive for the 2017 passed out batch. 64 Students attended the drive. 3 Sahyadrians got selected.

Prathibha K & Poornima SV from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering were recruited by Kambala Solutions in the recently held campus drive for the 2017 passed out batch.

Best Paper Presentation Award won at the International Conference

Best Paper Presentation Award won at the International Conference Ms. Swathi Rai participated in the 3rd International Conference on Humanities & Social Science organised by Global Academic Research Institute, Sri Lanka in Chennai. She presented a paper on "Empowerment of Asian Women as envisaged by Sister Nivedita" and won the best paper presentation Award.

Sahyadri Talent

Jayapreeth, first Semester Mechanical Engineering student is an Athlete & has also excelled in Swimming. He has participated in various competitions at State & National Level. He has won Bronze Medal in Athletics meets held in Mangaluru in the year 2015-16 at State Level. He was also a 1st Runner up in Swimming competition which was held at District Level in Mangaluru.

Mr. Rajath Patil, first semester Electronics & Communication Engineering students is a Volleyball player. He has participated in various events at State & National Level and has won prizes. He has participated in State level PU College Volleyball tournament held at Chikaballapura in 2016.

Manoj U, a first semester Information Science & Engineering student is a Handball player & a Karate champion. He has secured 1st place in Handball Tournament in the year 2016 at State Level. He has also participated in SGFI (School Game Federation of India) Handball Tournament in the year 2017 held at Delhi. He has also won 2nd prize in Karate Championship in the year 2015.

Vikshitha M, First Semester Information Science &Engineering student has participated in various dance competitions at State & District Level. She has secured second place in district level dance competition held at Udupi & first place in Zonal level, further has got selected for State level competition.

Naweed Ahmed Sheikh, first semester Civil Engineering student is a Kabaddi player. He has participated in various events at State & National Level. He was part of the team which has participated in Kabaddi match held at Haveri in 2017 at State level.
