Mr. Parthosarothy K Mukherji Chief Technology Officer, Sidel Systems USA visited Sahyadri and interacted with final year B.E students. He briefed about the projects he has done and the project ideas which could be implemented at Sahyadri. He assured that he will guide the interested students to realize their projects into final useable products.
He is a national & internationally renowned technocrat, scientist & polymath whose work has encompassed multi-disciplines as diverse as Energy, Environment, Chemical Engineering, Medical, Automobile, Computers across the world, working with some of the finest Scientists, Engineers, Institutions & Organizations in these fields. For his excellent contribution, he has won prestigious Govt. of India's Science & Technology award for innovative Heat Exchanger & pollution control equipment.
He stressed upon the opportunities for mechanical students in power sector companies. He gave an insight into innovative ideas relevant to mechanical engineering which they could take up as final year projects.
He quoted the example of Mexican illegal immigrants in USA who had won a robotic competition at MIT and said that there is potential in every individual. He sees the same enthusiasm and intellectual innovation in our students as students in California and other USA institutes.

Nishit Sahay, Chief Mentor c-STPP VTU Belgaum Visits Sahyadri
 Nishit Sahay, Chief Mentor c-STPP(Center for Science, Technology & Public Policy) visited Sahyadri and interacted with Principal, Vice Principal, Deans and HOD’s. He discussed various avenues of foreign collaborations that will aid students to get associated with renowned universities for their additional degrees.
Prelude to VTU-cSTPP: Nation's industrial development is a direct function of its public policy. Keeping this in mind, there is a need to examine contemporary technologies and policy that affect the social dynamics in the nation and around the world to bring out latent technological potentials required to address the needs of the society. VTU-cSTPP is a venture in this direction.
VTU-cSTPP encourages people to look technology with policy options. To understand right public policy is the fulcrum that facilitates technological inventions and encourages innovations in the society. To facilitate techno Policy at VTU to set two goals: The first is to create a right ecosystem for policy discourse, bringing researchers, technology experts & practitioners, and student's community together in order to contribute to policy debates, development, and discussion across many areas of expertise, both nationally and internationally. The second goal is to engage in research & training and create a pool of techno policy experts who can face the challenges of the globalized world. cSTPP try to link between technology and policy to connect the government and community. To endeavor in promoting collaborations between technology and public policy to address pressing needs of the society.

HR Personnel of TCS Address Final Year Students of the College
Mr. Sarfaraz Nawaz Khan H., HR - TAG, Campus Recruitment, Tata Consultancy Service and Mr. Sreenivasa Ramanujam, Academic Relationship Manager - Karnataka, TCS, visited the Campus. They addressed the final year students about TCS and the career opportunities at TCS. They also explained TCS’ off campus online test procedure which will be held on the 20th of February 2015.

Aricent Technologies Campus Recruitment Drive
Aricent Technologies conducted online test as a first round of pool campus recruitment for final year engineering students in the campus. 460 students from the pool colleges participated in this drive. In the Technical and the Interview round for 110 candidates were shortlisted. The results are awaited.

Tega Industries Pvt. Ltd. Recruitment Drive
Final year and pre final year Mechanical Engineering students from the pool colleges participated in the drive. Tega Industries Pvt. Ltd. interviewed the shortlisted final year Mechanical Engineering students as well as held an internship drive for students of pre-final year Mechanical Engineering students. The results are awaited.

Faculty Members Attend IESA Vision Summit
Mr. Srinath M, COO & Professor, Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, Head, Training and Prof. Girish M., MBA, attended the IESA Vision Summit held in Bangalore. The Summit was organised by IESA (Indian Electronics & Semi-conductor Association) at the Leela Palace. The theme address was given by Padma Bhushan Dr. K Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman, ISRO. Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Chhatisgarh, M.P, Dr. Ronald Black, President & CEO, Rambus Inc. and stalwarts of industry were present during the two-day conference. The themes for the two-day conference for discussion were Make in India - Vision to Reality, Transforming India -Movers & Shakers, Fuelling the Wheels of Change - the essentials: States –The Fulcrum of ESDM Policy Implementation, Realising Smart Cities with IoT, and Semiconductor Fab –The Opportunity, Challenges & Accelerators.

The men’s staff cricket team of the Mechanical Department has won the staff cricket tournament organised by the Department of Physical education. The team from CS/IS/MCA was runner-up.
