Dream Kit selected in the top 3 of VAA Startup Quest Biz Pitch 2019

Dream Kit selected in the top 3 of VAA Startup Quest Biz Pitch 2019 DTi Labz Private Limited represented by the interns Mr. Aashish and Mr. Pushparaj Adka of final year and third year Electronics and Communication Engineering respectively have been selected to pitch their product Dream Kit in the VAA Startup Quest Biz Pitch event organized by World Konkani Association (WKA), Mangaluru.

Out of the 10 startup teams participated, DTi Labz Private Limited were one of the top 3 participants selected by the jury panel of Mr. Rajesh Kamath from Infosys and Mr. Prashanth, CEO and Founder of Mangalore Infotech. The team was awarded with a cash prize of 10,000 INR.

The Biz Pitch event was organized as a part of the annual event 'Prerna' by World Konkani Association. The winners were felicitated with the prize amount in Prerna 2019 by Padmashree T V Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global. It was a great learning experience and exposure for the students and the Dream Kit team.

Team Sahyadri Motorsport to participate at the Indian Karting Championship-3 Event to be held in Maharashtra

Team Sahyadri Motorsport to participate at the Indian Karting Championship-3 Event to be held in Maharashtra Team Sahyadri Motorsport will be participating at the Indian Karting Championship-3 event to be held at Kolhapur Maharashtra during 14th Feb to 17th Feb 2019. This team consists of over 25 students and is being led by Ashwith Mendonca from eighth semester of Mechanical Engineering.

The Indian Karting Championship is an intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The objective of the competition is to implement good engineering practices. Each participating student would learn, innovate and gain the experience of team work, leadership and technical skill. It also aims to provide an opportunity for students to be recognized at the national level for research and development careers in automotive engineering. Sahyadri wishes Good Luck to the team for the upcoming event.

MBA Alumnus now partners with PETRA Sports Academy Hyderabad

MBA Alumnus now partners with PETRA Sports Academy Hyderabad Banshimbor L Lyngh Koi (Batch 2015-17) who is currently the Sales Manager/Sports Leader at Decathlon, Shamshabad in Hyderabad has entered into partnership with PETRA Sports Academy at Kokapet in Hyderabad since Jan’19. He now coaches 90 footballers during weekends. In addition to this, he coaches children from economically poor background for free and also sponsors sports gears to 3 kids in terms of their shoes and jerseys. He has intentions to gear up to next levels of licenses so that one day he could also coach the Indian Team. Sahyadri is proud of his journey from being a Footballer during his course of study at Sahyadri to now seeking a position at Decathlon which encourages him to follow his passion along with his profession.

Civil Engineering Students on a Site Visit

Civil-Engineering-Students-on-a-Site-Visit Students of eighth semester Civil Engineering visited a flyover construction site across Konkan Railways at Jokatte, Mangaluru which involves prestressed and precast construction carried out by Skycell Towers and Infrastructure Ltd., Mangaluru. Er. Arun Prabha, Proprietor & Consulting Engineer, Skycell Towers and Infrastructure Ltd., escorted the students and faculty members. Er. Arun Prabha highlighted about the various protocols followed in the construction of precast and prestressed fly over system and also explained in detail the various components and units involved in it.

Er. Sathyaranjan Rao, Consulting Engineer, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, Mangaluru Chapter; Er. Shamshuddin and Er. Ranjith, Site Engineers, Skycell Towers and Infrastructure Ltd., accompanied the students and faculty members throughout the visit. Students interacted with the site engineers regarding various aspects of flyover construction. Prof. Geetha S D and Prof. Deepthishree S A from the Department of Civil Engineering coordinated the visit.

Prof. Vijay Menon gives an inspirational talk on “Role of Technical students in rebuilding India”

He is an MBA from Leeds Business School, UK. He completed his studies at London School of Economics and is also a Post Graduate in Personnel Management from MG University, Kerala. He is a noted corporate trainer, motivational speaker and a visiting faculty of many Management Schools.
During his talk, he emphasized on the importance of Human Values and Ethics to lead a successful life and contribute towards Nation Building. He shared anecdotes of great people like Sir M Visvesvaraya and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on how their hard work and sacrifice made them legends for their contribution in building a stronger nation. His session was power packed and the participants were highly motivated by his thoughts and ideas. He re-iterated the students and faculty of their own power and values which is inherited from the culture and tradition of the nation.

Eighth Batch of Teaching & Staff members attend Value Education Workshop at RIMSE, Mysuru

Workshop-at-RIMSE,-Mysuru Another batch of Teaching & Staff members are at Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education (RIMSE), Mysuru, for a Three-Day Value Education Workshop. The Workshop was inaugurated by The Principal - Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte. Swami Maheshatmanandaji Maharaj, Correspondent of RIMSE presided over the inauguration. Swamiji, during his presidential address explained the objectives of the workshop and its importance in everyday life. The Three-Day workshop will have sessions on value education by eminent personalities.


ECE students qualify for the Quarter Finals of IICDC2018

ABHISHEK-UABHISHEK-KUMAR-DUBEYK-CHIRAG-RAOFEBIN-PHILIX Abhishek U, Abhishek Dubey, K Chirag Rao and Febin Philix – Students of final year Electronics & Communication Engineering qualify for the quarter final round of IICDC 2018 with Team ID 360370 and received 200$ Texas Instrument products for further development of the project. Texas Instruments in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology (DST) announced the DST & Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2018 anchored by NSRCEL, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) and supported by MyGov. This contest is open for all Indian engineering students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate & Doctoral degrees with Indian engineering colleges. The team is all set to submit the project for Quarter Finals before the deadline of March 25th 2019.

First year teaching faculty attend Prajna 2019 FDP at Ramakrishna Math

Workshop-at-RIMSE,-Mysuru A total of 24 First year engineering teaching faculty attended a One-Day Faculty Development Programme - Prajna 2019, an Education Conclave organized by Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru at their Mangaladevi Math premises. They participated in the discussion and interaction on the theme of “Education for Inner Transformation”. The programme was graced by the presence of eminent personalities like Swami Mangalanathanandaji of Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru; Swami Jithakamanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha of Mangaluru Ramakrishna Math; Dr B A Vivek Rai, Former Vice-Chancellor , Hampi University; Dr Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University; Captain Ganesh Karnik, Former MLC and Retd. Captain, Indian Army; Prof. Vijay Menon, Professor of Human Resource Development and IAS trainer and Prof. Raghothama Rao, Director of Manas Centre for Training and Development, Bengaluru . There were three sessions in the FDP which focused on helping the teachers find the right meaning of education and create a transformation in the field of education.

Technical-talk-for-the-students-of-Civil-Engineering Technical-talk-for-the-students-of-Civil-Engineering Department of Civil Engineering in association with SPACE, organized a Technical Talk on “Quantity Surveying - A Lifeline of Civil Engineer for Contract Management” which was facilitated by Er. Sudeep Shetty.
Er. Sudeep Shetty is a structural consultant and engineer in Hebri and owns a firm by name Civil Engineering Solutions. Er. Sudeep is a licensed Building Designer, RDPR class III contractor and a Member of Indian Institute of Valuers and Council of Engineers and Valuers. During his talk, Er. Sudeep spoke about various quantity surveying elements involved in the initial phase of any construction activity and also highlighted about various contracting procedures & management, licensing procedures for contractors in the government sector and estimation prerequisites for a building. Final and pre-final year students of Civil Engineering participated in the session.

Campus Recruitment Drive - SIMS Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS) conducted an exclusive campus drive at Sahyadri, for the Mechanical Engineering students of 2019 outgoing batch. Mr. Sandesh S - Admission Officer from SIMS, was at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 60 students participated in the recruitment drive. The results are awaited.

A four-member recruitment team headed by Mr. Rathan Rao Pathur – CTO; Mr. Siddesh - Senior Project Leader, Mr. Venkatesh Kulkarni - Associate Project Manager & Mr. James Jacob - Project Manager were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 110 students from various colleges attended the drive. Seventeen students were shortlisted, out of which 4 students were from Sahyadri.

This team has left to University of Calicut, Kerala for the All India Inter-University Power Lifting competition along with the Team Manager – Ms. Nithisha Rodrigues and the Coach - Mr. Shyam Sundar. Dr. Rajesha, Dean-Academics and Mr. M Shrinath, COO wished the team good luck for the event.


Sahyadri Whiz Quiz Prelims at St. Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru

A total of 400 students in teams of 3 each participated in the Prelims of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz that was held at St. Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru. Ninety Six students qualified for the Quiz Round after Written Test and finally 48 students have gained entry into the Grand Finale of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2019 which would be held in Sahyadri Campus on March 8th’19.
Final Year MBA students along with Prof. Sushma V, Dept. of Business Administration-MBA facilitated the Quiz.
