Chairman as Guest of Honour for Sharada Vidyalaya Day Celebration

Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, was the Guest of Honor for Sharada Vidyalaya Day Celebration held at Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangalore. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the students to develop leadership skills and participate in extracurricular activities. He emphasized on role of parents in building personality of students and to allow them to choose their area of interest without forcing them to fulfill the wish of parents. He shared his life experience on how he developed in his area of interest with the encouragement of his father. He spoke on the importance of cultural and traditional touch in education.

DTE Inspection Team Visits Sahyadri

An inspection team of The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) comprising of Dr. Shashidhar Ramthal, Chairman, Dr. Chandrashekhar and Dr. Prakash, Members, visited the premises and appreciated the excellent infrastructure and ambience of the institute.

They complimented the efforts of students and staff for their excellent performance in projects and research work, as well as the novel idea of SPSS scheme; a path breaker for Sahyadri in the long run.

The VTU results of Semester V of MCA saw an impressive percentage score in the recently held examinations in December 2014-15. Ms. Rakshita was ranked the highest in the College with 79.90%, followed by Ms. Ashwitha Shetty, Mr. Junaid K.A. and Mr. Prajwal with 76.95% each and Mr. Venugopal B. Rai with 76.76%. Out of thirty-three students who took the VTU examination, twenty-seven obtained a distinction and three students a first class, bringing the overall percentage score to 90.91%.

The VTU results of Semester III of MCA saw an impressive percentage score in the recently held examinations in December 2014-15. Ms. Sumithra V. Bhandarkar P. was ranked the highest in the College with 82.67%, followed by Ms. Priya with 81.62% and Ms. Pushpa P. with 80.10%. Out of forty students who took the VTU examination, twenty-eight obtained a distinction and eight students a first class, bringing the overall percentage score to 90%.

Ms. Chaitali Sen Gupta interacts with Heads of Departments

Ms. Chaitali Sen Gupta, Consultant, National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), interacted with HoDs to continue the NEN activities at the Campus. She presented plans and a chart for the upcoming year. The main objective of the activities is to develop a spirit of entrepreneurship in students. She spelt out in detail the 3-year Roadmap which is to increase impact from outcomes.

The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) is Wadhwani Foundation’s flagship initiative in India. It was established in 2003 with a mission to inspire, educate and support high potential entrepreneurs to create millions of high-value jobs. NEN does this by building institutional capacity for entrepreneur support and a robust entrepreneurial eco-system. It was co-founded with IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad, BITS Pilani, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology.

LG Soft India Assessment Test for Campus Recruitment Drive Held at Sahyadri

An online Assessment Test for LG Soft India was held in the Campus as a part of the company’s recruitment drive for final year Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and M.Tech. students of the College.


            

Faculty Member Selected as Reviewer Board Member-Springer AISC

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is selected as Reviewer Board Member of Springer - Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing (AISC). Springer AISC contains publications on theory, applications, and design methods of Intelligent Systems and Intelligent Computing. Springer AISC is indexed by ISI, EI-Compendex, DBLP, SCOPUS, Google Scholar and Springerlink.

A research paper entitled "Innovative Practices in Library Services at SCEM Library" by Mrs. Bharathi K., Librarian, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, has been published in the International Recognition e-Library Science Research Journal, Volume. Faculty Member Attends Faculty Development Programme

Mrs. Laxmi Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has attended a two-day Faculty Development Workshop on ‘Industrial Digital Design using Verilog HDL’, organized by Alva’s Institute of Engineering & Technology, Moodbidri, in collaboration with UTL technologies Ltd., Bangalore.

The Emphasis of the workshop was on Writing RTL and Behavior Source Code Targeting Xilinx Devices, in general FPGA devices as well.

Faculty Members Present a Paper in International Conference

Dr. Vidyavathi and Prof. B. Raghavendra Prabhu of the Department of Business Administration attended the Fourth International Conference on Higher Education: Special Emphasis on Management Education, held at Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte and presented a paper titled "A study on Students Perception Towards Absenteeism."
