CEO of Bitsoft Australia Visits the Campus

Dr. M. N. Shetty, Professor (Rtd.), IIIT, Kanpur and his son Mr. Meghanadha Shetty, CEO, Bitsoft, Australia visited the Campus. Bitsoft is specialized in E-commerce – Project Management and Micro & Small Business Management Solutions. Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Dr. A. P. Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration, interacted with them on the various issues related to enhancing the employability skills of engineering and management students during the course of their study. Dr. M. N. Shetty and Mr. Meghanadha Shetty agreed to extend their help in setting up a Centre of Excellence in Project Management. The detailed discussion on the proposal to set up the Centre of Excellence in Project Management will be held in the second week of January 2015.

Dr. Sachin Kamble on Industry-Institute interaction through Consultancy

Dr. Sachin Kamble, Professor and Head of Centre for Supply Chain and Operations Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, delivered a lecture to the faculty of the Department of Business Administration on the topic, “Industry-Institute Interaction through Consultancy.” He stressed on the importance of consultancy and research projects to improve the industry-academia interactions. He explained the steps involved in a consultancy project from pre-consultancy survey till the projects close out. Dr. Kamble also shared some of his own experiences about consultancy projects in various companies across India.

Dr. Vishal Samartha Addresses American Delegates

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Professor, Department of Business Administration, addressed 35 American delegates who were in India on the 'Mission to Peace ' forum at the Karnataka Theological College. She spoke on the topic 'Role of Youth in the Changing Indian Society.' The American delegates were college going students from different streams of education. The American students were very inquisitive and had a lot of questions with regard to the youth of India. The session was very interactive.

‘Sakhi Samalochana’ by Manthana

On the occasion of Girl Child Day ‘Manthana’- an association of likeminded Sahyadrians organized a programme ‘Sakhi Samalochana- an Interaction with Women’ in the campus.

Dr. Bhagyashree Baliga, M.B.B.S., M.D., D.N.B (Diplomate National Board) OBGYN, Gynecologist, was the Chief Guest of the function. She is also a writer in vernacular magazines on women’s health and conducts regular workshops for school girls on reproductive health and puberty.

Dr. Baliga spoke on the topic ‘Challenges for youth – Today and Tomorrow’. She discussed about the women health issues particularly on reproductive health and puberty. She briefed about the Myths about puberty, Emotional Changes in Girls, Self Esteem, Balanced Diet and Risks and Rewards in life. She also distributed stickers and posters about women health.

Prof. Irene Veigas, Principal, Sahyadri Nursing College was the President of the function. She spoke on ‘Women Awareness’ and gave a call to the young girls to be careful and brave in the present society. She narrated some stories and shared her personal experiences and said that the biggest weapon a girl can carry is assertiveness.

Mrs. Ranjitha, B, Coordinator, Manthana briefed about the activities of the association in the last eight months and said that the unanswered questions in the young minds should be answered and such platforms should be provided by the adults and the institution. Dr. Savitha, HoD, Department of Chemistry, shared her views on the programme. The session was followed by interaction and Q&A session. More than fifteen questions were raised by the students and were answered. Students had an opportunity to view videos related to Women Empowerment and Women Health.

Four Sahyadrians Recruited by IBM India Pvt. Ltd

Thirty-two students of sixteen pool colleges have been recruited by IBM India Pvt. Ltd. in the two-day campus recruitment drive held by the company. Ms. H. Manjushree Mallya and Ms. Ayshath Lubna T. of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Ms. Soumyashree K. S. of the Department of Information Science & Engineering and Ms. Neetu Bani, M.Tech. student are the four Sahyadrians recruited by the company. Mr. N. Nagesh, Mr. R. Muthuswamy, Mr. Raghavendra N.S., Mr. Arun R. Kumar, Mr. Shiva Ganesha, Ms. Shifali Shetty, Mr. Manjunath and Mr. Ashok of the University Hiring team of IBM India Pvt. Ltd. conducted the recruitment process. They appreciated the aesthetics and the excellent upkeep of the institute.

Sahyadri P. U. Students Bag Prizes at “YuvaParivarthan – 2015”

Students of Sahyadri P. U. College won several prizes at “YuvaParivarthan – 2015”, a National Level Youth Festival organized by Srinivas Group of Colleges.

Akash L. Kanchan won the I Prize in “Slow Cycling” Competition, Prajwal Narayan and Sanjan Alva won the II Prize in “Online Shooting” Competition, Shreyas won the Consolation Prize in “Archery” Competition and Mohd. Shaz and Sourab Rai won the Consolation Prize in “Beg, Borrow but Don’t Steal” Competition.
