In the Chemistry cycle, Deelan Felix Concessao with 86.97% has topped the Sahyadri College in the Semester I, B. E. Examination of 2014-15 held by VTU, followed by Deeksha G. Shetty with 85.29% while Aboobaker Siddiq and Jayalaxmi with 85.16% stand third.

Physics Cycle

In the Physics cycle, Pavithree B. Shetty tops the list with 88.90% followed by Swarna Sagarika Bhat with 85.42% while K. B. Hemaraj and Vaishnavi with 85.03% occupy the third position.

One hundred and eighty-seven students secured a first class with distinction, two hundred and three secured a first class and seventy-seven students secured a second class. Congratulations to all the students who have kept the Sahyadri flag flying high with academic excellence.

Lolita Jane D’Souza with 81.67% has topped the College in the Semester I, MBA Examination of 2014-15 held by VTU. Sindura H. obtained the second position with 78.11% while Chaithra Shetty with 77.56% stands third. Seventeen students obtained a distinction, fifty-four students obtained a first class while three students obtained a second class.

Workshop on Cloud Computing Inaugurated in the Campus

The two-day workshop on “Cloud Computing” organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Technical Associate, Android App & Cloud Computing Developer, Technophilia Systems. Prof. Sudeer Shetty, HoD, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mr. Sandeep Singh gave a brief overview about the forthcoming sessions. Dr. U. M. Bhushi Principal, stressed the importance of workshops and projects in his presidential address. Prof. B. S. Umashankar, the Dean Academic, was present on the occasion. Mrs. Ankitha K., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Pooled Campus Recruitment Drive by Seventh Sense Talent Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

A pooled campus recruitment drive was held in the Campus by Seventh Sense Talent Solutions Pvt. Ltd., headquartered in Bangalore for their Marketing profile. Degree and post-graduate students of Business Administration from colleges in and around Mangalore took part in the drive. Mr. Karan Mishra, Regional Head, HR L&D, Ms. Rishita, HR L&D and Ms. Nilofer Sana Shaikh, HR L&D of the company delivered a pre-placement talk. Twenty-one students including three MBA students of the College were selected in the JAM round which was the first round of interview. A total of 112 students had registered for the drive. The selected students will face a personal interview round.


            

Sahyadri Facilitates Written Examination for Karnataka State Police

  Karnataka State Police held a written examination in the Campus for the post of Police Sub-Inspector. A total of 955 candidates who got through the physical test took the written examination which was held in the morning and afternoon.

Mr. Vishnuvardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangalore, supervised the examination along with his vigilant team. The City Police Commissioner conveyed his satisfaction and appreciated the co-operation from the management and dedicated staff members which made the process simple and systematic.

Faculty Member Presents Research Paper at Physics Symposium

Mrs. Jyothi F. Serrao, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics has presented a research paper titled, “Aging Effects of the Precursor solutions on the Properties of Spin Coated Ga-doped ZnO thin films” in the 59th DAE Solid State Physics Symposium (DAE-SSPS-2014) held at VIT University,Vellore, Tamilnadu.

Faculty Member Attends Faculty Development Workshop

Mrs. Divya Prabhu P., Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration attended a on-day Faculty Development Workshop on Manuscript Writing held at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore as a part of her research program at Jain University. The key facilitator of the program Prof. Pawan Budhwar of Aston Business School enlightened the research scholars on how to develop a research problem, draft a manuscript and gain recognition in National and International Journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Management, a fellow of the British Academy of Management, Higher Education Academy and Academy of Social sciences.
