Inauguration of Sahyadri E-Waste Container
Sahyadri E-Waste Container was inaugurated by Ms. Suparna Shetty, M.D, Eterna Info Tech Pvt Ltd at Sahyadri Campus as an initiative of the Green Cell. Mr. G Sunil Kumar, ROV Pilot, Mr. Arnold Rodrigues, Lifestyle and Metabolic Coach, Mr. Sohan Albuquerque, Team Coordinator, United Article Brand, Mangaluru, Mr. Panlore, Director, Global TV, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Dr. S Manjappa, Director, Research, Dr. C K Manjunath, Administrator, Mr. Devdas Hegde, Managing Trustee, Prof. Purushothama C T, HOD (UG), Prof. Umesh S S, HOD (PG), Mr. Amarnath Shetty and Mr. Kiran Kumar G R, Sahyadri Green Cell coordinators and their team were present during the inauguration.
Internship opportunity for Civil Engineering students at Marian Projects, Mangaluru
Two batches of twenty students from final year Civil Engineering are attending internship programme at Marian Projects Pvt Ltd from 7th January 2017 to 21st January 2017.
The resource person for internship is Er. Ujwal Dsouza, Director O&A and supervised by Ms. Akshitha, HR Manager, Marian Projects Pvt Ltd.
This programme shall include Site Execution and Visit, Quantity Survey and Cost Controls, Procurement & Store Controls which will be coordinated by Prof. Sudeep Shetty, Department of Civil Engineering.
One-Week Internship for Civil Engineering Students at Roy & Shenoy, Structural Consultants, Mangaluru
Third semester students of civil engineering attended a one-week internship at Roy & Shenoy, Structural Consultants, Mangaluru under the guidance of Dr. Premanand Shenoy. The internship programme included following activities - safety guidelines for execution of work at site, ground work for execution of task and also materials used in construction. Site visit was a part of the internship which enlightened the students on the various stages of construction. The internship programme was coordinated by Mr. Sudeep Shetty & Mr. Vikram, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering.
Third year Civil Engineering students off to Survey Camp
128 students of Department of Civil Engineering are off for a Survey Camp to Siddapura during 13th January 2017 - 23rd January 2017. The students are accompanied with 19 staff members including Mr. Sudeep Shetty, Camp Officer, Mr. Sunil Kumar K and Ms. Smitha, Assistant Camp Officers.
Workshop on “Introduction to Industrial Automation” organised by Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd
Day 1 of the workshop on “Introduction to Industrial Automation” was conducted by Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd. in Sahyadri Janatics Industrial Automation Laboratory. The workshop started with an introduction to Automation by Mr. Ravichandra Kunugali Rangappa, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. With vast expertise & knowledge, he stressed on the necessity and importance of automation in field of agriculture, since agriculture is the back bone of India. Post which, Mr. Nishanth and Mr. Gautham (Technical trainers, Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd) continued the session with an overview on Pneumatics, its Fundamentals, components of Pneumatic System and Pneumatic circuits.

MBA faculty invited for a Guest Lecture at St. Agnes Degree College, Mangaluru
Prof. Sushma V, Department of Business Administration was invited to address the final year degree students of St. Agnes Degree College, Mangaluru on “Current challenges in HRM and suggestions to overcome them”. Prof. Sushma V spoke on Attrition, which is one of the global challenges in the present corporate scenario and also gave inputs on how talents can be retained in an organization. Students were apprised about the fish bone analysis done by HR’s on the reasons of attrition, its impact & also the calculation of attrition rate. They were introduced to “Employee Engagement” strategies carried out in corporate organization. As few of the students were looking out for employment opportunities post their course, they were also enlightened on the “Winning Profile” for a Job Interview. Audio/Visual, Role Play & Participative learning were the pedagogies used for the lecture. It was encouraging to observe that most the students were MBA aspirants and was keen on getting answers to their queries related to the course and its scope with regards to placement opportunities, self-development, and financial support to pursue MBA and also a comparative analysis on various PG courses available. Students have been assured of continuous support in their future endeavors.

Prof. Sushma V & Prof. Prajwala Rodrigues attend the National Conference on Women Empowerment at Manipal University - School of Management, Manipal. A paper titled “Women as a Leader, need of the 21st Century Transformational Leadership – An experiential study” authored by Prof. Sushma V and co-authored by Dr. Vishal Samartha was presented at the conference.
The paper focused on the problem statement – “As women climb up the career ladder, they vanish”. It highlighted the hurdles women face as a leader at workplace, suggestions to cope up with these obstacles through mechanisms as stated by women leaders - Sheila Hooda, CEO & President, Alpha Advisory Partners, Indra K Nooyi, Chairperson and CEO, PepsiCo, Sheryl Sandburg, COO, Facebook , Leen Nair, CHRO, Unilever and others who form role models to aspiring women leaders.

Dr. J V Gorbal appointed as Dean Academics
Dr. J V Gorbal has taken over as the Dean Academics of our institute effective 12th January 2017. He has completed his BE from Basaveshwara Engineering College, Bagalkot & M.Tech from K. B. N College of Engineering, Gulbarga. He has been awarded his Doctoral Degree from J. N. T University, Ananthapur. He has published several papers in national and international journals. He has got more than 18 years of experience in teaching and 7 years of experience in research. Prior to this role, he was the HOD of MCA Department. His areas of interest are Image Processing & Pattern Recognition. We congratulate him for the new role and also wish him good luck.

Faculty presents paper in WCEST-2017, Phuket, Thailand and wins Best Paper Award
Prof. Shetty Mamatha Gopal, Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Ms. Lathika J Shetty, an alumna of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, currently working as an Assistant Professor, Computer Science & Engineering, MITE attended and presented a paper entitled "Efficient business big data set analytics for making better decisions by using the combined applications of hadoop map reduce and time series analysis technique" in the World Congress on Engineering, Science & Technology (WCEST-2017) organized by World Academy of Science & Technology at Phuket, Thailand. This paper has won the best paper award.

KPMG conducts exclusive recruitment drive for Sahyadri MBA
KPMG conducted online test at Sahyadri today as a part of its interview process of an exclusive recruitment drive for MBAs. Sahyadri has been contributing immensely to the workforce of KPMG, year on year basis with Prajna A, an alumna of Sahyadri & the 4th rank holder of VTU 2014-2015 exams doing extremely well in this organisation.
