Ms. Sasha Rai P has secured First Rank & Gold Medal in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi board exams of M.Tech computer aided design of structures with 87.42%

Mr. Akshay R Bhandary has secured Fourth Rank in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi board exams in Mechanical Engineering with 83.65%

These achievements in VTU board exams have raised the banners high of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. We are extremely proud of the rank holders and wish them good luck in their future accomplishments.

Dr. Omar A. Saraereh, The Hashemite University, Jordan visited Sahyadri

Dr. Omar A. Saraereh, The Hashemite University, Jordan visited Sahyadri Dr. Omar A Saraereh, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, The Hashemite University Jordan – Zarqa, visited Sahyadri Campus. During his visit, he interacted with students in Social Innovation Lab and staff members about various ongoing projects. Dr. Omar has appreciated facilities provided by Sahyadri and assured to visit our institution again with his team.

Indian Army visits Sahyadri for Campus Recruitment Drive

Indian Army Recruitment Team visited Sahyadri for the preliminary round of interview of its 27th Indian Army University Entry Scheme (UES 27). They are conducting this drive for the first time in Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. 9 students from our institution and 2 students from NITK, Surathkal participated in the drive. They are keen on selecting candidates based on intellect, idealism and courage and also who can lead and inspire others.

Sahyadri has been contributing immensely to the workforce of KPMG-GDC year on year basis. This year as well, they have recruited eleven students from the Department of Business Administration in the campus recruitment drive conducted in our campus and also St. Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology, Mangaluru.

MozCoffee meetup 2K17 organised by Department of Information Science & Engineering

A total of eleven colleges in and around Mangaluru participated in the MozCoffee meetup 2K17 organised by Department of Information Science & Engineering. Mr. AbhiRam RaviKumar, a Mozilla Tech Speaker and a part of FSMK’s (Free Software Movement Karnataka) Executive Council was the resource person of the programme. By profession, he is an Engineer in Information Sciences and currently working at SAP Labs in Bengaluru as a full stack web developer, while still continuing to contribute to Mozilla India as well as FSMK.

Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal during the inaugural ceremony appreciated the initiative and encouraged the participants to make the best use of this event and get clarity to all the queries they have regarding the Mozilla Club.

This programme has empowered the participants to form Mozilla Campus Clubs in their respective colleges. This shall definitely pave way for leadership opportunities in the near future for the students. It was also decided during the meet up that Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management would be the Regional Centre for Mozilla Club.

Civil faculty attends Short-Term Course at IISc, Bengaluru

Prof. Krupaksha H K, Department of Civil Engineering attended a short-term course on “Modelling and Analysis of Sustainable Transport for Scientific Decision Support” under the Quality Improvement Programme of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi conducted at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

Abhishek M B, student of first year Mechanical Engineering has given a flute performance in Alvas Virasat 2017.

Robo Champ 2017 organised by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd in Sharada Vidyalaya

Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. organized a workshop - ROBO CHAMP 2017 in Sharada Vidyalaya, Kodialbail. Total of 67 students participated in the workshop. Mr. Johnson Tellis, Director- DTlabz, Ms. Achala R Shetty, Training Head – DTlabz, and interns of DTlabz facilitated the workshop.


Progress on Survey Camp at Siddapur

Extensive survey camp for third year Civil Engineering students is currently under progress at Siddapur, Kundapur. A total of 128 students along with 12 faculty members are in the camp. The survey camp involves four primary projects viz, New Tank Project, Old Tank Project, Highway Project and Water Supply and Sanitation Project.

NIPM in collaboration with Sahyadri to organise a National Conference

In a meeting held yesterday by National Institute of People Management (NIPM), Mangaluru Chapter at SDM College, Mangaluru it was decided that NIPM would be organising a One Day National Conference on “Leveraging Business Skills in Line with Current HR Trends and Employee Laws” in collaboration with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management on Feb 24th’2017, Friday in Sahyadri Campus. Out of 175 delegates participating in the conference, 75 participants would be from the industries and the rest would include students and faculty from Academic Institutions.

Research Collaboration with NIT Durgapur

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor Department of Electronics Communication Engineering would be working along with Professor Baisakhi Chakraborty, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (NIT, Durgapur) on a research project entitled "Early Cancer Detection using Machine Learning". The objective of this Research project is to develop a Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system for the detection and characterization of cancer. CAD systems will play an increasingly important role in the clinic as a second reader. Clinical trials have shown that CAD can improve the accuracy of cancer detection. Preclinical studies have demonstrated the potential of CAD to improve the classification of malignant and benign lesions.

Dr. Manjappa's PhD student successfully defends his Thesis

Mr. C T Puttaswamy, Department of Chemical Engineering, BMS College, Bengaluru who is the PhD student of Dr. S Manjappa, Director, Research & Consultancy, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management successfully defends his thesis titled "Process optimization and production of ethanol from hemicellulose".

Anglo Eastern Maritime Training Center online test at Sahyadri

Anglo Eastern Maritime Training Center conducted the Online test at our campus for the engineering students passed out in the year 2016 for the post of Electro Technical Officers (ETO) at the Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy. Results are awaited.

Technical Session by DTlabz in Karnataka Polytechnic College, Mangaluru

Mr. Johnson Tellis, Director - DTlabz facilitated a technical session for the students of Karnataka Polytechnic College, Mangaluru. A total of 200 students participated in the session.
