Sahyadri Wanderers Meet at Parliament

Sahyadri Wanderers Sahyadri Wanderers Sahyadri Wanderers – MBA, Mentor-Mentee-Meet was organized at India’s Top most Houses of Parliament. The team had a great time at the parliament and had an opportunity to visit both Upper House and Lower House. The top officials of the Parliament appreciated Sahyadri Wanderers effort in spreading the fragrance of Mentor-Mentee. The team also had an opportunity to visit India Gate and saluted the great sacrifice of Amar Jawan.

MBAs visit HMT Limited, Kalamassery Unit, Kerala MBAs visit HMT Limited, Kalamassery Unit, Kerala MBA students along with their mentors visited HMT Limited Kalamassery unit at Cochin, Kerala. The printing machinery division of HMT Limited was set up in North Kalamassery in 1972 and the major products here are printing machine and a programmable guillotine. It also produces various products such as flexible turning cells, CNC turning cells, copying lathes, centre lathes and CNC twin spindle chuckers.

After the industrial visit, the students had a fun-filled time at Wonderla followed by a tour to India’s largest mall – The LuLu Mall and after which they took the Cochin famous tourist attraction – The Cochin Backwaters Boat Ride and Mangrove forest sightseeing. The tour was concluded by a visit to the Cochin’s beautifully lit Marine Drive. These three days of visit helped the students get a wonderful first hand exposure into the functioning of major industries and also enabled the students to taste the vibrant-cultural flavours of Kerala. The tour helped create a stronger bond between the mentor and mentees.

MBAs visit AMUL in Ahmedabad, Gujarat MBAs visit AMUL in Ahmedabad, Gujarat MBAs along with their mentor - Prof. Padmanabha B visited Anand Milk Union Limited (Amul) situated in Anand, Ahmedabad, Gujrat. The Amul Dairy was established in the year 1946 and is Asia's largest cooperative organization and largest milk supplier in India. Amul spurred India's White Revolution, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products. Amul processes 2crore litres of milk on an average every day and they produce thousands of varieties of products. Today, Amul dairy is one of India’s success stories and organizes over 10,000 village cooperatives in India.

Mr. SS Sundaran OSD, Public Relations, Amul Dairy had arranged the visit to all sections of the dairy and made presentation on AMUL model to our students.

Sahyadri hosted "Ortho Premier League 2019"

Ortho Premier League 2019 Ortho Premier League 2019 Canara Orthopaedic Society (R), Mangalore organized Ortho Premier League 2019 at Sahyadri Cricket Ground for major hospitals across the city. The event had the participation of six major teams namely Kasturba Medical College Mangalore, AJ Hospital Mangalore, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy Mangalore, Yenepoya Medical College Mangalore, Tejasvini Hospital Mangalore and Father Muller Hospital Mangalore.

The Floodlight Cricket Tournament was inaugurated by Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor, NITTE University & Chairman, Tejasvini Hospital. AJ Hospital Mangalore won the tournament for the third time in a row and Yenepoya Medical College bagged the Runner up Trophy.

10-Day Technical Training for students & faculties

A 10 day Technical Training is scheduled for the sixth semester students from Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Science branches. Fifty faculties and would be a part of this training. A total of 324 students will be participating.
An Engineer who is a problem solver in various ways needs to be a constant learner, and should also possess a strong sense of reasoning and a structured approach to problem solving.
Having hands-on experience in at least one of the programming languages and a basic understanding of the rest of the concepts is a common requirement for the recruiter as far as the industry is concerned. The areas where technical aptitude assessments can be applicable are vast and can be customized keeping in mind the industry and the requirements.
Technical aptitude helps assess-
1. Ability to reason with logic
2. Problem-solving ability
3. Critical thinking
4. Numerical computation and numerical reasoning
5. The inclination to learn, digest, and apply information
6. Interest to keep up with the fast paced, ever changing tech space
7. Determine the standing in the market
8. Determine concentration and the ability to focus on one or more tasks all the while avoiding distractions.
9. Look for specific cognitive functions that test a candidate’s attention, working memory, reasoning ability, etc.
As an engineering faculty it is very much essential to put themselves in the shoes of the recruiter and guide the students in choosing the best career, so as to understand the technical skills. In view of the above, a 10 days’ Technical Aptitude has been arranged by the Department of Placements.

3-Day Aptitude Training for faculties

A 3-Day Faculty Development Program on aptitude is scheduled for the faculties of Placement cell and all branches of First Year Engineering. The programme is designed to train and develop professionals in aptitude so that they can act as 'Resource Persons' in guiding and motivating young students.
Aptitude plays an inevitable role in the campus recruitment drives. During the recruitment process, the employers assess the skills and abilities of candidates through an aptitude test. Aptitude tests help highlight exemplary candidates who can really make a valuable contribution to the future of a business. An aptitude test is a structured assessment that aims to evaluate the students’ talent and/or skill in completing certain tasks without any prior knowledge or training.

The syllabus for the 3 day Faculty development program is as follows

Numerical Reasoning
This type of test gauges how well the candidate can interpret graphs, data, statistics or charts
Verbal Reasoning
Verbal reasoning tests are designed to identify whether or not the candidate understands written information and passage of text.
Diagrammatic Reasoning
This type of aptitude test evaluates candidates’ ability to follow diagrams, identify patterns, synthesize data, and solve problems logically.
Logical Reasoning
Logical reasoning gauges candidates’ ability to follow something through to a conclusion when given basic information.
Inductive Reasoning
This test measures a candidate’s ability to solve problems when given unfamiliar information.

The faculties are expected to assist students with the learning process and knowledge application. They are required to bring awareness about the role of aptitude in getting a job and orient students accordingly.

JEE-MAIN 2019 online exams at Sahyadri

JEE-MAIN 2019 online exams were held in College computer labs from 8th Feb 2019 to 12 the Feb 2019 in 2 batches with 200 students in each batch.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN is conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards.JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

Smartlink Network Systems Ltd Smartlink Network Systems Ltd /Digisol Systems Ltd visited Sahyadri to conduct a campus recruitment drive for the Electronics & Communication Engineering students of the 2019 outgoing batch. The results are awaited.

Smartlink Network Systems Ltd. divided its operations into 3 independent focused business units and became an NBFC company with a new name Smartlink Holding Ltd. Digisol Systems Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary and is in the business of sales, marketing service and support of DIGISOL brand of end-to end active networking and passive networking (Structured Cabling) products. First launched as an active networking products brand of Smartlink, DIGISOL is now one of the most preferred networking brands in India.

Prelims of Sahyadri Whiz-Quiz 2019

Sahyadri Wanderers Department of Business Administration hosted the preliminary round and Phase II of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz at Government First Grade College (GFGC), Bantwal. The quiz began with a formal function. Prof. Nandkishore of GFGC introduced the team. The session began with Prof Girish M. addressing the students about the importance of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz. This was followed by preliminary round of Whiz Quiz, where 45 students of Sahyadri participated. The program was appreciated by Prof. Hydar Ali and Prof. Nandkishore, GFGC Bantwal. Prof. Shashikala, Head, Department of Commerce distributed the certificates to the winning teams.

MBAs had been to Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad as a part of Industry-Academia Interface MBAs visited Bisleri International Private Limited situated in Hyderabad Telangana. Bisleri started manufacturing mineral water since 1965. As a symbol of goodness, trust and purity, Bisleri has been a household name for decades. Students had an opportunity to visit the plant and have a good interaction with the officials. Telangana state Road Transport Corporation signed an MoU with Bisleri International for sale of bottled water at bus stations. As a part of their Social Responsibility, they have started several initiatives such as - Plastic Recycling, Rain Water Harvesting and Ozone Treatments. Each drop of Bisleri water is a promise of goodness that goes through scientifically advanced to ensure that every consumer receives the same pure, safe and healthy drinking water. Students had a good learning during the visit.
