Joint Commissioner Commercial Taxes visits Sahyadri Campus

Sri N. K. Hemant Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes accompanied by Ex-Capt. Shambhu Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Commercial Taxes and Mr. Sanjay Balipa, Commercial Tax Officer, visited Sahyadri Campus. They were welcomed and shown around the Campus by Prof. M. N. Nayak, Administrator & Dean Placement. Sri Hemant Kumar was very appreciative and said, "Very nice campus and ambience with good infrastructure. I would like to visit again". After the Campus tour, discussions were held with the Principal. During discussions, understanding was reached regarding conduct of Training programmes for the Department of Commercial Taxes at Sahyadri Computer Lab. The first programme is tentatively scheduled on July 22, 2014 in the CAED Lab.

The “TEAM KSHIPANI” with students Vardhana M., Thilak P., Sathish Karanth, and Nagesha from the third year Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, are the toppers at the recently concluded Residential Camp on `The Internet of Things’, by INTEL-FICE held at PESIT, Banashankari, Bangalore.

Twenty-nine teams from IITs, NITs & Deemed Universities from all over India participated in the Camp. The innovative project “Assist Me Jacket”, using ARDUINO Processor by our students will now be carried forward using Intel Atom Processor for commercialization.


How to Project Oneself

A session on “Dramatics – How To Project Yourself” was organized by the Department of Art and Culture for the Bridge Course students.

Mr. Sheena Nadoli, Lecturer in English at Government P.U. College, Hospet, Bellary, was the resource person. He has pursued his Diploma in Theater Arts from Neenasam, Heggodu. He has involved himself in the activities like drama direction, music direction, Composing Tulu albums etc.

The session started with the introduction on knowing about oneself. He divided the students into groups and asked to introduce in a unique way and also collected the feedback on that.

The teams performed different themes such as Karate School, Hospital, Police Station, LKG Class etc. and exhibited their theater skills. He later gave the feedback on the different aspects of the performances and shared the tips to improve.

Mrs. Shreelatha U.A., AAO, shared her view on the session and requested the students to make use of opportunity prevailing to them in their course of studies.


SAMBHRAMA 2014: Cultural Competition for Sahyadri P. U. College.

“SAMBHRAMA 2014”, cultural competition for the students of Sahyadri P.U. College was inaugurated by Mr. Edberg Dilon Soans, Lecturer, Chemistry Department, N.S.A.M. P. U. College, Nanthoor; Mr. Naveen Pilar, Co-ordinator, Department of Art and Culture, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management; Ms. Divya Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Mr. Naveen S.A. Principal, Sahyadri P. U. College.

Mr. Edberg Dilon Soans, Lecturer, Chemistry Department, N.S.A.M. P. U. College, Nanthoor; Mr. Naveen Pilar, Co-ordinator, Department of Art and Culture, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Ms. Divya Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management were the judges for the event.

I and II PUC students were divided into 4 teams, viz. Shakthi (led by Harshitha), Spoorthy (led by Pavan), Keerthi (led by Rameeza) and Pragathi (led by Shreyas) and were mentored by Ms. Swathi, Ms. Neesha, Ms. Shruthi and Ms. Deepthi Faculty of Sahyadri P. U. College.

Sahyadrian Recruited by Allcargo Logistics

Ms. Shweta Shetty, of the Department of Business Administration, has been selected as “Management Trainee-Sales and Marketing” for the Corporate Division of Allcargo Logistics Ltd, Mumbai.

Allcargo Logistics, part of Avvashya Group is an integrated logistics multinational, headquartered in India. Allcargo operates across 90 plus countries through 200 plus offices globally. Its services comprise global Multimodal Transport Operations (NVOCC, LCL & FCL), pan India CFS/ICD operations, Project and Engineering Solutions (Project Logistics & Equipment Hiring Solutions), Ship Owning & Chartering and 3PL & Warehousing services.

Talk on Financial Planning for Working Professionals

The Department of Business Administration in association with Geojit BNP Paribas organized a workshop on financial planning for working professionals. Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Dr A. P. Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration, Prof. Umashankar B. S., Dean Academics and HODs of various departments were present for the inaugural session. Mr. Basavaraja Pateel and Shaji Vyalil enlightened the gathering on various investment avenues available to working professionals.

Faculty Member Attends Faculty Development Programme

Mr. Sachidananda M. H., Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, attended a one-week Faculty Development Programme on "NS2 Tools, Open GL and Image Processing" ,organized by the Department of MCA, JNNCE, Shimoga.

Faculty Member Invited as an Inaugurator

Mr. Lokesh, Assistant Professor (S.G.), Department of Business Administration was invited by Ganapathi Pre-University College, Mangalore to inaugurate the Student Council for the academic year 2014-15.
