Shri. M R Seetharam, Minister for Planning, Statistics, Science and Technology visits Sahyadri
Shri. M R Seetharam, Hon’ble Minister for Planning, Statistics, Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka visited the campus. During the visit he interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and was also taken round the campus to view the various student-centric initiatives introduced by the institution.
He was astonished to witness a campus that was well structured with stunning natural views. He defined Sahyadri as an “Ideal Engineering Upstart – To Study” that has grown in leaps and bounds in a short span of time. He was dumbstruck to view the Innovation Labs that are set up in the campus and had words of praise for the practice of having a dedicated team of faculty to handle the subjects for first year engineering students.
He appreciated the campus for the start up initiatives and the encouragement given to the students to nurture their talents and innovative ideas. He said, the practices that are adopted by the institute make it unique in this part of the State.
He wished great success to the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, the staff and the students of the institute and to have a glorious future.
Shri. M.R Seetharam is the Director of M.S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, M.S Ramaiah Polytechnic and M.S Ramaiah Hostels. He is also the Director-Chairman of M.S Ramaiah Hotels Resorts Pvt. Ltd and Chairman- Managing Director of M.S Ramaiah Developers & Builders Pvt. Ltd.
Shri. M.R Seetharam received his education in Bengaluru, holds a graduate degree in Science from St. Joseph’s College. While pursuing his graduation; he was the President of student governing council. His superlative passion for public service led him to active politics and this passion became his profession when he was elected twice (1999 and 2004) in the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka from Malleswaram Constituency. In the year of 2012 he was nominated as Member of Legislative Council (MLC). He worked efficiently and provided excellent amenities like parks and places of worship and implemented the Government’s Self Employment Schemes like Antyodaya, AksharaDasoha and Yeshaswini Cooperate Health Scheme. In the year 2016 he swore as Cabinet Minister for Planning, Statistics, Science and Technology and also In charge Minister for Kodagu District Government of Karnataka.
Shri. M.R Seetharam is currently the Vice Chairman of Gokula Education Foundation. He is deeply involved in various activities of the foundation and provides strategic support steering it to greater heights.
Workshop for Faculty on “Professionalism at Workplace”
A Workshop on “Professionalism at Workplace” was organized with Thirty five faculty members attending the programme. This was conducted primarily for the faculty who are with three & less than three years of experience.
Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal narrated his 30 years of experience in Education through various Case Studies. The prime emphasis was on enhancing professionalism at workplace & also re-iterating that education is a service sector and also sharing the expectation from this profession. Dr. Bhushi stressed on the rapid changes in education system over the years & mentioned that teaching should have an essence of psychology in it which will make it an effective process. He stimulated the faculty members & mentioned of the efforts taken by the institution in grooming them to a facilitator’s role.
Commencement of Bridge Course 2017
Bridge course programme for the new entrants to engineering has been inaugurated & Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal gave a brief introduction on the Bridge Course Programme. Mr Johnson Tellis (Director, Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd.) facilitated the sessions along with team building activities which motivated students to gear up for the upcoming professional course of 4 years. Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Dr. J V Gorabal, Dean- Academics and Dr. C K Manjunath, Administrator were also present for the programme.

Semnox Solutions campus recruitment drive
Semnox Solutions visited Sahyadri to conduct campus recruitment drive for the Electronics & Communication engineering students of 2017 passing out batch. Sixty two candidates were part of the recruitment drive. Three candidates have been selected by the company, of which one is Sahyadrian. Mr. Umesh Prabhu, Vice President accompanied by Ms. Aysha Suzana and Mr. Iqbal from the Recruitment Team of Semnox Solutions were at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process.
Prof. Amitabh Anand, SKEMA B-School, France interacts with MBA Faculty
Prof. Amitabh Anand is an MBA from Stockholm University School of Business, Sweden and a Ph.D from NEOMA Business School, Paris. He is currently an Assistant Professor - BBA Programme, Department PMISSC & SharP Research Group, SKEMA Business School, Sophia-Antipolis, France. He is into research on Knowledge Management, uncertainty, knowledge sharing, generosity & humility with multicultural experience of working in Europe & South Asia.
Prof. Amitabh’s key discussion points during the interaction with MBA Faculty was to scale up Research at Sahyadri to International level by providing various opportunities to faculty & students which shall give a global outlook to the institute. He mentioned that a team of globally renowned faculty members is ready to provide free mentorship to students for project. He also offered Institutional partnership for student & faculty exchange in South Asia and Europe. After feeling the sense of enthusiasm among the Sahyadri faculty, he also agreed to provide research opportunities in consulting, collaboration with universities, guidance for Ph.D registered faculty members and for publication in leading journals and conferences in collaboration with group of Europe and UK faculty.
Further, he stimulated faculty members to teach in a way that the subject changes the life of a student for good. He suggested to include short case studies in the teaching pedagogy and also advised to limit words in Power Point Presentations, instead add images in the PPT with videos that relate to the concepts to be dealt with in class. He has assured of a continued relationship and collaboration in Research activities. He was spellbound with the uniqueness of Sahyadri Campus and said that – “The serene and incredible infrastructure of Sahyadri is highly commendable”.
Dr. C K Manjunath deputed as a guest speaker to Government PU College, Bantwal
Dr. C K Manjunath, Professor of Humanities & Administrator was deputed as a guest speaker to Government Pre-University College, B.Mooda, Bantwal to address the second year Pre-University students on the topic "How to score more in board exam and competitive exams such as JEE, CET and NEET". Around 180 students from six government colleges of the Bantwal taluk were present, accompanied by eight teachers.
During the interactive session he shared few of the techniques to remember the concepts of Physics and Chemistry. He also touched upon topics relating to exam blue print, answering techniques and important areas in core chapters of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

Dr. Ashwath Rao takes over as Head of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering
 Dr. Ashwath Rao has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He has 12 years of overall experience in industry & teaching and more than 5 years of research experience. He has obtained his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad in Microelectronics. He has published several research articles in various science citation indexed journals which includes IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, Applied Physics Letters, Taylor and Francis etc.
He has obtained his M.S degree in VLSI-CAD from Manipal University, P.G.D.B.A in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, NMIMS University and B.E in Electronics and Communication Engineering from N.M.A.M Institute of Technology, Mangalore University. His areas of research include High-k Dielectrics, Microelectronics, MEMS, VLSI Design and Fabrication, Microelectronic Devices, Radiation effects on Semiconductor devices used for space application.
Mr. Shamanth Rai appointed as Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering
 Mr. Shamanth Rai has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He has 09 years of overall experience in teaching and more than 4 years of research experience. He is pursuing his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad in IT department. He has submitted his thesis and received favorable reviewer’s comments and shall be defending his PhD thesis very soon. His area of research is Wireless Sensor Networks. He has published four research articles in various science citation indexed journals of Springer, InderScience. He has a book chapter in CRC press of Taylor and Francis. He also published articles in IEEE international conference.
He has obtained his M.Tech degree in Wireless Communication and Computing, IT from IIIT-Allahabad and B.E in Computer Science & Engineering from PACE, Mangalore.

Dr. Molly Chaudhuri appointed as Area Director
 Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, Head, Department of Training has been appointed as the Area Director for Area F1, of Division F of District 92 of Toastmasters International for the period July 2017 to June 2018. She will be in charge of Port Town Advanced Toastmasters Club, Milagres Toastmasters Club, Infosys Toastmasters Club, Mangaluru and TAPMI Toastmasters, Manipal.

 Ms. Madhu R has joined the Department of Information Science & Engineering as an Assistant Professor. She has completed her B.E in Computer Science & Engineering from VCET, Puttur & M. Tech in Computer Network Engineering from NMAMIT, Nitte. Her area of Specialization is Computer Network Engineering.

He has completed his B.E in Information Science & Engineering from BGSIT BG Nagar, Nagamangala, Mandya & M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Mr. Prajwal M has joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor. He has completed his B.E in Civil Engineering from R.V College of Engineering, Bangalore & M. Tech in Remote Sensing and GIS from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK). His area of Specialization is Remote Sensing and GIS.
Mr. Gireesh Mailar has joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor. He has completed his B.E in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur & M. Tech in CAD Structure, from UBDT, Davangere. His area of Specialization is CAD Structure.
 Mr. Sanjith S Anchan has joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor. He has completed his B.E in Civil Engineering from Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangaluru & M.
