Meeting of Governing Council was held at the campus  The Governing Council meeting of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management was held at the campus on Sunday, 21st July 2019. During the meeting various initiatives implemented for the progress and development of the college were discussed.

Balasubramanya Murthy (Educationist), Vice Chancellor, PES University; Dr. M.V. Subramanian (entrepreneur), Managing Director, Future Focus Info Tech Pvt. Ltd.; and Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda –VTU nominee, were also present. Later on, Dr. K.N. Balasubramanya Murthy delivered a talk on “What a good University should do?” He shed light on various hindrances in the higher education and what can be done to overcome the same.

Sahyadrian Recruited by Bosch Limited

Sahyadrian Recruited by Bosch Limited Ms. Gowri Ganesh from the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2019 batch was recruited by Bosch Limited for the position of Graduate Apprentice with a package of Rs.4.00 Lakh per Annum. The final interview was held on 5th July 2019, in Bengaluru.

Ms. Gowri Ganesh has also represented VTU south zone national in volleyball in the year 2017 & 2018, Handball in the year 2019. She has also been a part of the inter zonal Volleyball, Throwball, Handball, and Athletics.

Department of Electronics & Communication organizes a Five-Day short term courseDepartment of Electronics & Communication organizes a Five-Day short term course A Five-Day Short Term Course on “System Verilog & UVM” commenced on 23rd July 2019 for the final and pre final year students of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Dr. Ashwath Rao, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, gave an overview of the short term course and various job opportunities available in the field of VLSI design. Mr. Harish K.S. and Mr. Kedharnath V., Application Engineer - Entuple Technologies, Bengaluru, deliberated the sessions.

Dr. Ashwath Rao, Head of the Department gave a brief overview of the department, verticals, thrust areas, NPTEL/MOOC courses and the mapping of various subjects to the thrust areas. He also gave an insight on how the Industry Connect Courses has been evolved and how they are mapped to future Skills. He emphasized the students to actively involve and take maximum benefit from the industry connect courses.

• Day 2 - 25th July 2019. Signal Processing and VLSI vertical was presented. Introduction started with concept of signal everywhere, importance of signal processing in various applications like communication, embedded system, etc., being explained. Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, under the banner of IETE Student's Forum (ISF) conducted a one day workshop on "PCB : Design and Manufacture". The objective of the workshop was to help the second year students render better circuit designs for their projects and to help them explore the possibilities of PCB designing.

A 3-member team from Sahyadri visited RIMSE and felicitated him, wishing him success and happiness. Shri Maheshathmanandaji will be taking charge of Ramakrishna Math at Goa.

IBM Final Assessment - Campus connect

IBM Final Assessment - Campus connectIBM Final Assessment - Campus connect IBM conducted the final assessment for Core Java and Testing batch on 24th July 2019. A total of 94 students have taken up the assessment. The testing batch had Core Testing and the Up-skill Selenium Assessment. The Core Java batch had Core Java and Java Full Stack Pre-assessment.

SCII team visits Sahyadri

SCII team visits Sahyadri Mr Junichi Kamiyama Director and Mr. Alexander Varkey, CEO System Consultant Information India (P) Ltd, Tumkur a Japanese based company visited Sahyadri on 25th July 2019. After having visited various innovation centres and startups @ Sahyadri they have expressed their interest in collaborating with the college for various activities in the coming future.

BOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship FairBOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship Fair Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai & Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru in collaboration with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organized an Apprenticeship Fair on 26th July 2019 for Engineering Graduates/Diploma/General Graduates at the Campus which saw the participation of around 400 students.

A total of 21 companies participated in the Apprenticeship Fair.

Caliper bags 1st order from Defence

Caliper Caliper which has already been approved by Defence, bagged the first order for a component, which goes into “Automatic Pistols” used by our Armed Forces. This is an import substitution product and in the bidding process. Caliper thwarted competition technically and becomes single supplier of this component.

Caliper undertakes Reverse engineering project

Reverse engineering project undertaken by Caliper @ Nuclear Power Station Caliper was invited by Nuclear Power Corporation @ Kudankulam Plant for conducting reverse engineering study of pressure vessel studs and nuts. Mr. Vignesh & Mr. Abhishek from Caliper visited the nuclear plant and collected technical information for further carrying out reverse engineering @ Caliper.

Mr. Gautham Nayak of DTLabz attends a Collaborative Design Workshop Mr. Gautham Nayak, Design Led Innovator from DTLabz took part in a 4 Weekend Collaborative Design Workshop titled “RE-VISION DWCC”, which was held from 24th May 2019 to 15th June 2019 in Bengaluru. The workshop was anchored by BBMP's Solid Waste Management Cell and co-organised by the Indian Institute of Architects (Karnataka Chapter) and Sensing Local.

Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Mr. Siddharth Rajhans is a Harvard educated first generation technology entrepreneur, a Silicon Valley Technocrat and product expert, management researcher, TEDx and motivational speaker and pioneer of the Outernet Technology in India and the Asia Pacific Region.

Dhanya Ravi
TEDxSCEM 2019 to be held at Sahyadri Ms. Dhanya Ravi is known as the “Glass Woman”. Born with a rare genetic disorder, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), commonly known as brittle bone disease, Dhanya, however, is made of sterner belief and refuses to be hamstrung by impediments. She is a motivational speaker and a freelance content writer for whom “the Internet is my world.”

Brigadier I N Rai
TEDxSCEM 2019 to be held at Sahyadri Brigadier I N Rai was commissioned as the second lieutenant in the Sikh Light Infantry in 1970 and took part in the historic 1971 Indo-Pak War. He has the distinction of being an instructor in Officers Training Academy, Chennai and as Brigadier in Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Dr. Rohan Chandra Gatti is a Senior Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Mangalore Institute of Oncology, Mangalore. He has specialized in minimally invasive and organ sparing therapies. He is also the Head of Department of Surgical Oncology at Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore.

Swastik Padma
Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Mr. Swastik Padma, an "Innovator by heart, Entrepreneur by mind", has a minor planet named after him. He has several innovations to his credit. For his achievements, he bagged the Second Grand Award. Last year, he was presented the National Child Award by the President of India.

Kavitha Mishra
Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Mrs. Kavitha Mishra, is presently a part of the agriculture sector. Being a IT graduate, she got the opportunity to work for an IT company but refused the offer and turned into a farmer, instead. “I belong to an agriculture family therefore since childhood I was interested in farming,” she justifies.

Swami Ekagamyanandaji
Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Swami Ekagamyanandaji is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. Having taken to the path of renunciation, he has been serving in the Mangalore Ashrama for the past 12 years. He has been instrumental in the success of various initiatives of Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore such as Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath Abhiyan.

Karishma Arora
Introduction of speakers of TEDxSCEM 2019 Ms. Karishma Arora is an All India CBSE Humanities Topper (2018-2019). At a very early age of 18, she has managed to bag various awards. She has also had the honor of being felicitated by the Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Apart from speaking at the event, she will also be performing at the event.

He has conducted over 200 training programs on life skills and personality development for educational, healthcare, industrial and public institutions. He is also a Life Member of Indian Society of Professional Social Workers (ISPSW).

Cultural performances at TEDxSCEM 2019 Mr. Adarsh Pakkala is a Yakshagana dancer who has won several awards. With more than 100 performances so far, he is a true spectacle to watch.

Cultural performances at TEDxSCEM 2019  Artbeats, is a group of a flutist, a guitarist, a cajonist and a speed painter. They have performed in various competitions, social awareness campaigns and have bagged several titles in the University and State level events.
