Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University visits the Campus

Professor K. Byrappa, the new Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University visited the Campus and interacted with the Principal, Administrator and the HODs. In his own words he says, “I didn’t expect this much beauty and aesthetic sense before this visit. Now I feel it is a learning paradise not only for students, but for the enthusiastic faculty and it should be put into a full scale usage. Then only the dreams, vision and goals of the founders of this great educational Institute could be realized.”

Three-day Orientation Programme: Uthkhanana - 2014

‘Uthkhanana’- Nimma Prathibege Namma Vedike; a three-day orientation Programme for degree students was organized by ‘Manthana’; an association of likeminded Sahyadrians at S.V.S. College, Bantwal. Dr. Seetharama Mayya, Principal, S.V.S. College inaugurated the programme. Introducing the members of the team and appreciating the team for organizing the orientation programme for the students of the rural area, he gave a call to the students to make full use of the programme. Fifty students of S. V. S College enthusiastically participated in this programme.

The three-day programme saw various sessions on different topics being engaged by the resource persons of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Mr. Rakshith Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering engaged an Icebreaking session and another on the Art of Living. Ms. Aurin Madtha, Student Welfare Officer (Academics) conducted a session on ‘Leadership and Team building’. ‘Soft skills for Employability’ was engaged by Mrs. Divya Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration. Mrs. Ranjitha B., Department of English, engaged a session on Communication Skills and `Decide Where You Want to Go’ and conducted group activities. Mr. Ramesh K. G., Department of Business Administration, engaged a session on ‘Pose yourself to face Society’. He briefed about the career opportunities in MBA and the avenues in the Sahyadri Campus.

A lot of fun filled learning activities were conducted during the three-day programme which ensured the active participation of each and every student in the crowd. Motivational videos were screened for the students. The concept of Wall Magazine was introduced and students prepared four wall magazines during the programme. Quiz, Collage, Variety, and Debate Competitions were held. Among attending these sessions and other activities, students were seen busy practicing for the celebrations for the valedictory programme.

The Valedictory of `Uthkhanana Nimma Prathibege Namma Vedike’

The Valedictory programme of ‘Uthkhanana’ Nimma Prathibege Namma Vedike began with a cultural programme by the students. The events of the Valedictory programme such as Master of Ceremony, Prayer Song, Feedback, and Vote of Thanks, were all conducted by the students.

Dr. Seetharama Mayya, Principal, S.V.S. College, Bantwal, delivered the presidential address. He appreciated ‘Manthana’ and expressed his gratitude to all the resource persons. He gave a call to the students to continue the same spirit, curiosity, interest, and creativity throughout their life. ‘S.V.S. Manthana’ an association of the beneficiaries of the orientation programme was declared open by Mr. Rakshith Shetty, Coordinator, Manthana. It will continue the work begun by the organizers of the programme. Students expressed their gratitude and requested the principal and management to coordinate many such programmes in future.

Dr. Ravindran T. K., Professor, Department of English, Dr. Sujatha, Librarian, S.V.S. College, Bantwal, Mr. Navin N. Bappalige, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, faculty members, non teaching staff, resource persons and students of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management were present on the occasion. The day witnessed colorful and mind-blowing performances by the four groups of the camp – Chiguru, Munjaneya Manju, Sparsha and Pragathi Chittra.

Winners of the Collage Competition, Quiz Competition and Variety Competition were rewarded. Various events and fun games were held for the students. ‘The Most Creative Team’ award was won by team ‘Chiguru’, while team ‘Pragathi Chittara’ won ‘The Most Active Team’ award. The teams ‘Sparsha’ and ‘Munjaneya Manju’ were recognized as ‘The Most Dedicated Team’ and ‘The Vibrant Team’, respectively.

CET Documents Verification in Progress

The CET Documents Verification Centre was inaugurated in the Campus by Shri. B. Devadas Hegde, Trustee, Bhandary Foundation, in the presence of Mr. Jagajeevandas Bhandary, Nodal Officer(Mangalore Region), KEA, Meera, Assistant Nodal Officer (Mangalore Region) and Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. The CET documents verification will continue up to June 17, 2014 from 9:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Faculty Member Attends FDP

Prof. Karthik Raj Kudroli, Department of Business Administration, participated in the four-day VTU-VGST sponsored Faculty Development Programme on "Quality Enhancement in Teaching and Research Methodology to Bridge the Gap between Academics and Industry", organised by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

Two-Day Orientation Programme held for news entrants to I P.U.

The two-day Orientation Programme for the fresh batch of
I P. U. students began with Prof. Ananth Prabhu, Head, Sahyadri P. U. College conducting a session on ‘Achieving Academic Excellence’. He advised the students not to ruin their lives by chasing others’ dreams and urged them to chart a career path that suits their interests and abilities. He gave them useful tips regarding time management, study skills, memorization techniques and so on. Mr. Naveen S. A. Principal, Sahyadri P. U. College welcomed the students and highlighted the salient features of the college, viz. Participation in the Science Conclave at IIIT- Allahabad, CET Coaching by Expert Coaching Class Faculty, Mentoring System, Science Model Contest and Paper Presentation Contest. Mrs. Roopalatha, Biology Faculty and Co-ordinator of the Orientation Programme briefed the students about the academic atmosphere and rules and regulations of the college. Mr. Naveen Pilar, Coordinator, Art and Culture Department, Sahyadri Educational Institutions, conducted a session aimed at spotting and grooming the creative talents among students. He held various activities for the students and offered to train them for intercollegiate cultural competitions and fests.
