Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman and Mrs. Prasanna Bhandary, Secretary, Bhandary Foundation interact with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman and Mrs. Prasanna Bhandary, Secretary, Bhandary Foundation met and interacted with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, commonly known as Sadhguru, recently at Bangalore. Sadhguru is an Indian yogi, mystic and author. He founded the Isha Foundation, a non-profit organisation which offers yoga programs around the world, including India, United States, Great Britain, Lebanon, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, Uganda, China, Nepal and Australia. The Foundation is also involved in various social and community development activities, which have resulted in the Foundation being granted special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Sadhguru's vision and understanding of modern social and economic issues have led to interviews with BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNNfn, and Newsweek International. His insights are regularly featured in India's leading national newspapers. A well-known public figure, he regularly draws crowds of more than 300,000 people for his public talks and "sathsangs".

Felicitation to SSLC and HSE Toppers Mr. B S Ranjan and Ms. Keerthana Rajeev

Felicitation to SSLC and HSE toppers was organised in Sahyadri. Prof K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University, Mr. Ramesh, President, Urban Development Authority, Shivamogga and Syndicate Member, Kuvempu University , Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman and Dr. U M Bhushi, Principal, S.S.L.C. topper Mr. B.S.Ranjan along with his parents and media were present on this occasion.

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman said that it is a great achievement in Karnataka. So far, after the SSLC board has been formed, no one scored cent percent till today. He stated that anyone can become doctors and engineers, when proper guidance and advice is given. He requested Prof K Byrappa to advice the topper, so that he can be a national asset. Students are the ones who build brand image. He insisted students to take the right career decision. He said that Ranjan should become a role model to India.

B. S. Ranjan shared his opinion and his future aim in life. He said that everyone must cope up with competition and his own efforts . Life is just like a road hump and we must know to balance everything. He advised students not to be stressed when they fail. His goal in life is to become an IAS officer or MBBS, that is how he can serve the nation and his parents. He also added that he wants to stand on his own and needs outside exposure.

Mr. Ramesh, Syndicate Member, Kuvempu University said that he has become the hero of Karnataka through his achievement. He is a role model for students. He wished all the best for his future. He also added that he has to do well in his future. He praised our institution, and innovative ideas of our Chairman.

Prof. K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University, gave his presidential speech. It’s a great achievement since it is impossible to obtain full marks. Students have gift of grasping subjects which makes them to achieve good marks. This made history. To succeed in life one should have a goal and work hard to achieve it. Teacher’s play a very important role in moulding students. He told faculties to motivate students to think creatively and also added that students should have curiosity to learn new things.

Principal Dr. U M Bhushi proposed the vote of thanks. He said Vice chancellor has delivered significant message to B S Ranjan. He said that this will take him to greater heights. He advised him not to lose interest in enjoying education, happiness, at the cost of marks.

Solar Phone Charging Hub Installed by Summer Camp Participants

The Renew Summer Camp saw its first success with the participants installing the solar phone charging hub near the Nethravathi Auditorium in the Sahyadri campus. There was high excitement among those who had participated in the camp recently to see their first mega project successfully implemented. A book on the experience of the participants was also released on the occasion. They were then taken to Pilikula Regional Science Centre where they experienced the magic of science and how different scientific aspects work. It was truly a memorable day for the campers and the members of DTlabz to see the young minds mesmerized with the beauty of science and its power to create.

CET Documents Verification in Progress at Sahyadri

The CET Documents Verification Centre was inaugurated in the Campus by Shri B Devadas Hegde, Trustee, Bhandary Foundation, Mrs. Saraswathi B, Chief Nodal Officer (Mangalore Region), KEA, in the presence of Mr. Sacheth Suvarna, Assistant Nodal Officer (Mangalore Region), KEA, and Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. They gave instructions to the candidates for the CET document verification process. The CET documents verification will continue upto June 20th, 2016.

MBA Students Recruited by Manipal Technologies

Mr. Collin Amit D'Souza, Mr. Mohammed Thasrif and Mr. Saifuddeen P of second year MBA have been recruited by Manipal Technologies in the campus recruitment drive held at Sahyadri Campus. In addition to this, five students from Finance specialisation have been shortlisted and will be attending the final round of interview at Manipal.

A paper titled “Challenges in Recruitment & Selection - An Observational Study in BPO/ITO Sector, Mangaluru", authored by Mrs. Sushma V, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA, and co-authored by Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, Department of MBA and Mr. Karthik Kudroli, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA has been published in the Global Research Review: Journal of Innovative Research in Commerce and Management, Volume 2, 2016 (ISSN: 2250-2521).

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management has been ranked 42nd among the Top 100 Private Engineering Colleges in India survey 2016 by Higher Education Review (HER) and ranked 19th among the Top 20 Academically Best Engineering Colleges in India survey 2016 by Higher Education Review (HER).

A whirlwind of examinations round the corner

With the current semester coming to an end students have been busy with their final internal examinations which have just ended. The final year students have already begun their final examinations by VTU and students of all engineering streams have been busy studying. A whirlwind of examinations is round the corner and for some time to come there will be a lull in other activities in the Campus. The semester which has just gone by has seen the Campus buzzing with activities be it sports, cultural events, College Day, Tech Vision 2016, projects being completed by final year students and faculty clearing last minute doubts from the students. All-in-all- it was a semester well spent.

Student’s Paper Published in International Journal

A paper titled, "data deduplication and Auditing in Cloud" authored by Sahana Kumari B., M.E. part-time student in Computer Science, and co-authored by Dr. Rajni, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, has been published in the International Journal of Emerging Research in Management Technology (IJERMT).

Vice Principal Presents Research Paper in International Conference

Prof. S. S. Balakrishna, Vice Principal, attended the 3-day International Conference on Advanced Materials and Technology (ICMAT-16) at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore and presented a paper titled, “Analysis on Mechanical and Dynamic behaviour of Granite Epoxy Composites with Cast Iron Particulates as Filler”, co-authored by Mr. Girish, Dr. G.C. Mohankumar and Dr. S Narendranath, NITK, Surathkal.

Dr. C. K. Manjunath Invited as Resource Person for Staff Enrichment Programme by St. Aloysius P.U. College

Dr. C. K. Manjunath, Prof. of Humanities & Administrator was invited by St. Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru as the resource person for the Staff Enrichment Programme. He conducted a session on `Stress Management and Motivational Skills’.

Staff Member Felicitated in Town Hall

Mr. Jagadish Poojary, staff member of the Department of Mathematics and Trainer at Sahyadri multi-gymnasium was felicitated for his achievements in Body Building in a programme ‘Sammilana-2016 Shrama Sambhrama’ at Town Hall, Mangalore , organised by Construction Workers Federation of India (CWFI) and Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
